i think its a mediocre drama based interpretation of greek mythology with typical 80s-90s japanese "let's steal other culture through shonen and pretend we're not xenophobic" attitude and a decades old fanbase that blatantly ignores it and obsesses over character relationships and character cuteness, like most anime that is culture based
yep basically
the characters and the aesthetic are the main draw, its totally overrated for what it is, but i still love it nonetheless
the nice thing abt the “culture” is that its more of.....laziness i think? like rather than create his own villains, kurumada is just like “ok fuck it, athena is fighting odin now”
and we love it
