hey so heeeey if you're still doing prompts I would love to see any more of that bartender AU? Maybe some background about their books and their popularity, or a post-bar encounter or just about anything, honestly?? I love aus and I love the potential of this one!!!
@classyshippingblog is referencing this fic. tl;dr: Newt is a bartender, Hermann is a writer in town for an important meeting.
Message Received: so u gave me ur number
Hermannblinks the sleep from his eyes and scrutinizes the screen. In the dark of theroom, its brightness makes his vision swim. It takes a moment. Then—he remembers. The man. In the bar. Who hadturned out to be Newton Geiszler; to whom he’d given his number; which the manhad apparently decided to take full advantage of a mere—he checks the timestamp—threehours after getting it.
Hermann is torn between flattery and chagrin atthe eschewal of what he had (heretofore) assumed was a universally acceptedsocial construct: you wait until the next goddamn day to call back.
He clicks to reply. The box, blank, blinks its tiny, demanding cursor up at him.
For a writer, he’s having anawfully hard time writing.
“Damn,” he mutters. He chucksaside the phone, scrubs his hands over his face, and reaches for his cane. Theexecutives at Paramount will not wait for Hermann’s text message.
Nor, it seems, will Geiszler. Ashe’s shaving, he receives,
can’t belive ur playing coy wme
and as he’s buttoning his shirt,
He keeps the messages open. One-handedly, he pecks,
and sends this at last as he makes his way tothe hotel lift, a satchel with his newest manuscripts and tablet slung over hisshoulder, cane muffled into the carpet. As the lift begins to move, his phonevibrates. Cell reception has certainly come a long way since 2010. The replysimply reads,
Movementcatches his eye in the mirrored walls of the elevator. When he glances up, he seeshis own smile reflected back.
