I just realized that while Gothamites would love to have their city be like the rest of the country, they’d also hate getting rid of their current crazies.
1) It would mean they’d get new crazies with superpowers cause you know power hates a vacuum
2) have you seen them prices these days??? The penguin is bad but damn at least you can afford to put a roof over your head. And maybe kids gotta learn street smarts before school smarts but they’re not going into generational debt because of university.
Gotham is a shithole but it’s THEIR un-gentrified shithole thank you very much. Now get outta here with those Metropolis prices ain’t nobody gonna pay 5k+ rent a month just for Luthor to throw a tantrum and destroy five apartment blocks.
