And suddenly Gotham is putting that shit on t-shirts, scrawling it on bathroom stalls, adding it into thirst traps of Bruce and spray painting it onto Wayne Enterprises billboards. Gotham wants to eat Bruce Wayne alright.

But what if all of Gotham knows that Brucie Wayne is a persona Bruce puts on for the public? Like they all saw him be a weird, quiet little boy even before his parents were killed. They saw him be a weirder, quieter little boy after they were killed. They saw him be a loner teenager who hated talking to people, who was always more comfortable keeping to himself.
Then he comes back after traveling the world and heâs suddenly a himbo playboy socialite? Either itâs all an act, or someone finally introduced Bruce Wayne to the good drugs. Theyâre more inclined to believe itâs the former considering they all start to notice that, while Bruce may always have a drink in his hand when heâs out and about, he never actually drinks it.
But they donât say anything. They donât call him out on it. He may be a weirdo, but he does his best to make Gotham a better place for everyone to live. He donates money to all sorts of local charities, he volunteers his time at soup kitchens, he donates brand new clothes and bedding and toiletries to shelters. Heâs a good guy. Who cares if heâs a little odd.
Most Gothamites actually feel kinda bad that he must think he needs to play this goofball character in order to fit in, in order to be a contributing member to society.
So they let him play his role.
Then he adopts Dick Grayson, the little circus boy whose parents were just killed in front of him. Whoâs eight years old, the same age Bruce was when his parents were also killed in front of him. And everyone knows exactly why he adopted him, because the parallels are too much, and they see so clearly in the way Bruce interacts with him that Bruce just wants to help him, that he understands exactly how Dick must be feeling.
And Dick is a very serious child, at first. He hardly speaks. He clings to Bruceâs hand if Bruce isnât carrying him. He glares at people. When he does speak, itâs scathing, and he has a sharp tongue.
Then a couple years later, itâs like his personality has completely flipped. Heâs goofy and silly and so very similar to Brucie. And theyâre all reminded that Dick grew up in a circus, heâs a showman through and through, and they all know itâs an act. They all know Richie isnât the real him.
But they let him perform, let him put on his show along with Bruce. Because Gotham loves the Waynes, and if they want to have a public persona to have some sort of privacy, then they arenât going to stop them.

âNeed a coin?â - jab to two-face if someone is undecided
âThat's Arkham-level crazyâ - self explanatory (Arkham Asylum)
âPulling a Batmanâ - ghosting someone / disappearing mid conversation
âGCPDâs on itâ - sarcastic way to say something is never getting solved
âDon't go full Joker nowâ - when someone keeps on escalating and doubling down during an argument
âItâll heal before the next breakoutâ - a child crying about a scraped knee
âMust be a Wayne Projectâ - whenever they see something getting fixed or functioning in a legal way
âYou ain't Batmanâ - when someone tries to do something reckless

the thing about Bruce Wayne is that, no matter what mask he wears, he looks at Gotham and sees something worth saving. something dark and dirty worth pulling up into the light, and damn the consequences.
in a city where so many other influential figures have given up, or given in, Bruce sees something worth making holy again. despite all that itâs taken from him.

Metropolis citizen: Yeah so my exams were cancelled bc some villain took over the city the week leading up to them so the school said not to worry about it.
Gothamite: Fr? Last time a villain took over our city he killed anyone who wasnât smart and had us take extra exams.
