...in installing Unity the other day. (I was looking for a game development engine and it happened to be free.)
Unbeknownst to me, the damn thing also installed Microsoft’s shitty .Net framework on my computer, as well as their other even shittier product, Visual Studio.
The entire installation ate up almost 40GB of my hard drive space!!!
After I found out Unity wasn’t for me and uninstalled it, I then realised that it didn’t completely remove all the shitty Microsoft .Net and Visual Studio components.
So even after uninstalling Unity, I’m still left with 20+GB of hard drive space less than before!!!
A quick search on the Internet revealed that MANY other people suffer the same problem - leftover Visual Studio components not removing themselves despite Visual Studio having already been supposedly uninstalled.
You can see for yourself how shitty things get in this thread right here.
This is where I wish Google’d just NUKE Microsoft and remove it completely from the face of this world.
For years and years I’ve waited for Google to gradually replace all of Microsoft’s shitty products with stuff that doesn’t make you tear your hair out in utter frustration. It's happening at a slower pace than I expected, but I’m still hopeful. Do not disappoint me, Google my lord. And thus my prayer as follows:
Please, Google. Please. Please develop something to replace shitty stuff like Micro$hit’s .Net framework and its even worse Visual Studio. Then you can work on replacing Windows entirely next. You know what I mean - Android for PC proper. (Yes, many of us still do use desktops and laptops, ok?)
I know not all of it might make financial sense, especially from a capitalist point of view, but you’re a company with a heart, right? :)
(P.S. Just quit investing in all those crap companies from time to time, and divert the funds to new in-house product dev.)
