RIP Goldy McJohn. Goldy was a founding member of Steppenwolf who recorded their iconic debut album in the Fall of 1967. It was released in early 1968 and I guess everybody knows their immortal hit "Born To Be Wild". Even Wilson Pickett liked it and did a great cover version the following year. Goldy's organ playing was a huge part of their success and it's a bit sad that he never got the full respect he deserved. All albums until 1974, when he left the band, are great and there's more to discover than just the hit singles.
