Also on that topic I want to elaborate on how I think Banica consuming Carlos is an used of cannibalism as a metaphor for love. This interpretation is often to show an all-consuming love, which is in my opinion what Carlos and Banica's relationship is, their love was so strong that Carlos after death desired to be consumed by her and be one "And so I’ll become your blood, I’ll become your flesh" and "I’ll be with you forever" are literally the final lines in his song and Banica also desired to stay with him forever, that one of the reasons why she ate him, Carlos devoted himself to Banica to merge their bodies and souls and erase any distance between them after FOURTEEN YEARS APART. The best part is that it worked! Carlos stayed within Banica's stomach even after her death and transformation in a demon and after escaping and getting a beastman body he stayed with Banica and joined her in the Graveyard ending, he won't be leaving her side anytime soon.
