#glowcloud

As I start this blog, I plan on posting a lot of my old projects that are already completed. However, this is a project I am currently working on: The Glow Cloud Dress. What was once only a fever dream idea I had is now becoming reality as I get closer to becoming the rainbow dead animal dropping cloud of my dreams. Below is a few of the progress photos I’ve been taking as I go along. 

This is the ugly base dress for this project, which is an old tank top and t-shirt that I sewed together to make a base dress that I glued a lot of old pillow fluff to. In the top corner of the dress, you can see me testing out what the lights I have might end up looking like with the fluff. (This later gets changed.) 

Here’s a better version of the light test, with an incredibly blurry photo (I am a seamstress, not a photographer.) I like the way the lights are looking on the base dress, but it’s still not quite right. At this point, you might be able to tell that I was only planning on making the cloud dress white. I spontaeously decided to change that very soon. 

I painted over all of the stuffing on the base dress with acrylic. Yes, it is ugly, I know. However, I plan on covering the base painted dress with another layer of stuffing to both diffuse the light and to dull down the colors on the dress. On this as well, none of the lights are in their final positions, nor is the top layer of stuffing pinned down. 

Finally, here is the rough draft of the dress from the front. The fluff is not attached by anything, and the lights are only currently pinned. Going forward, I plan on rearring the lights so they don’t look too much like lines, and I need to even out the bottom hem of the dress, which is a problem I chose to ignore up until now, but I can’t ignore it anymore. I also need to figure out a way to hide the extra wire instead of just shoving it in the hidden pocket along with the battery pack. *Supply and time list below the cut*

Re-listening Night Vale (even though I’ve got only to 50th episode and still have like a hundred ahead) and this time carefully paying attention to every word so it would be easier to finally write something. 

So unbelievably good this show is. Every episode is just so very well written and perfomed that sometimes I have to pause to scream a little (pretty much the same I did when I listened for the first time) xD And it’s great how we are getting to know all the future main characters slowly in the first episodes, like who knew that the GLOW CLOUD (ALL HAIL!) would be so present in the next episodes.
