-they could be dogs. Specifically an afgan hound and papillon mix. It works better than everything else tbh i can see Lusamine and Mohn being dogs too
-bunnies :3 no explanation i just feel this vibe from them
-bats. Theyre different species here but who cares. Lillie always gave me a honduran white bat vibe. And Gladion is a grey long eared (he did catch/befriend like every kind of bat pokemon except woobat line so, yeah, hes a bat)
-secretary bird Lusamine cuz shes the most secretary bird coded character ive seen in my life

Went back to thinking about my type:null gladion and the fact he’s a umbreon implies he had a high enough friendship and it was probably before Lusamine went crazy, and the fact faba made silvally…oh my god we gotta kill faba
I assumed he evolved to protect Lillie (kinda how some umbreons in anime evolved to protect their trainer/other pokemon) after Mohn disappeared. I just think it fits him to evolve in this kind of situation. Is Lillie an eevee? Or an alolan vulpix?
If Gladion is both an umbreon and a silvally it means he evolved via friendship twice. This must be killing his tough guy aura

I have a take about aether president gladion that’ll make the people that believe in it want to hang me…it only works in a bad end/villain au, if he went off the rails like Lusamine and threw medication down the stairs in family jewels “I can’t break the cycle” style, which works super well for said villain au, not for any other au.
If you hate Aether president Gladion you came to the right place! I hated this headcanon since like 2017.
Ive never thought about a villain au tbh, so i currently dont have anything to say about it, but i do have things to say about why Aether president Gladion does not work.
First of all, he hates the place. He only took that role temporarily because he had to. And second, i think it contradicts with his development.
You know how Silvally was created with specific purpose? Its a "beast killer", it exists to fight ubs. Its named after its ability to change types, and when it got its restrictive mask, it was named type:null, like a project. "Silvally" is a name of a species, but originally its a name of this specific pokemon, Gladion named it Silvally before it evolved (at least in the anime), and after its evolution it wasnt named type:full, it was no longer defined by its purpose. I think Gladion goes through something similar. He is Lusamines older child, becoming a president of Aether foundation is an expected role for him. Putting him in this role strips him of agency. In different versions of the story you can see him breaking the expectations, hes not a part of af, he doesnt fit in with team skull, he doesnt perfectly fit the stereotype of a "mean rival", he breaks the gender binary in the anime by being connected to lunala. No one ever talks about it and it makes me feel crazy hes sooooo queer. Gladion is whatever he decides to be, you could even say... he is all of him.
His fashion is so important. His design is asymmetrical, kiki and has red elements. It makes him stand out no matter where he is. I remember seeing adult Gladion designs where people made him tall and skinny Aether president it made me so mad. Who is this man what did he do to Gladion. Getting rid of his emo swag is character assassination.
