The Morning was quiet, and I was alone in the kitchen, the sound of my bacon, and eggs sizzling on the griddle as I contemplated from last night. No one was coming into the kitchen, so I opted to be alone while cooking, which was for the better. I had a better time thinking and relaxing when making breakfast. I heard footsteps only to see Malcador walk in, clad in a robe and some slippers.
"Good morning, Faline" He greeted and I nodded looking at him, plating my eggs
"Morning. I have Coffee brewing in the pot and it is fresh. and That Tea brewer, I am in love with, I made some tea in there. I want this so bad." I said, slightly a little too excited as Malcador removed a mug from the hook.
"You can have it after." He said and I dropped my jaw and grinned excitedly. He poured himself a cup of the Dark roast coffee and then took a nice sip. I continued my cooking, the bacon almost to my liking, so I went to the avocado on the cutting board to cut it. There was silence now, and my mind drifted back to Lorgar last night. How he declared me as the Primarch's torturer, but I was now doubting. Malcador cleared his throat and I turned to him, and he was looking at me. I took it he was hearing my thoughts, like any of the psykers here. and I huffed.
"It still bothers me. He came up here, with his whole chest and told me I am making them relive their traumatic moments, and making them feel bad emotionally and that I should feel bad. I am not a torturer."
"It is because Lorgar never learned accountability. He was raised in a Theocratic planet that graced the very sand he walked on and his word held the heaviest weight out of everyone that led upon it." Malcador said to me. "He is reminded of the consequences of his first act as the first Heretic and he can not handle the fact it has caused a domino effect that ruined all that was worked on. His best defense is to place it on the very person who is teaching him and calling him out on what he done." He finished his coffee and then sighed, and continued. "You are a human, so He thinks you will be easier to break down just so he can avoid that accountability. The Emperor told you to read Lorgar's book before Sanguinius, because of this."
I listened, silently, walking to the island with my plate of bacon, Eggs, toast and Avocado. Malcador waved a hand and any cooking mess that was there was now gone, and I looked back at him.
"You know I could have done all that." I said to him and He got up, nodding.
"I know, but this is my house. What kind of host would I be if I let my guest do the cleaning?" He stated before he walked away, and he disappeared out of the Kitchen. I smiled, but as soon as he disappeared, I wiped the frown from my face and ate alone for a bit, going to pick up the book when Magnus appeared from nowhere, the slight change in atmosphere when he materialized in front of the island. He looked at my plate, and he materialized one of his own a copy of my breakfast, then sat down across from me, and materialized a fork.
"How much of that did you hear, Magnus?" I said, taking a bite of my toast. He just smiled, his own fork swirling the egg yolk.
"I have heard it all. and For what it is worth, as much as Lorgar and I get along, he is not correct on a few things." He said. I sighed, listening to Magnus as I took a bite of my avocado.
"It is obvious of course, I mean, I did not do this to torment you all, its just a place to give you space to find peace, and happiness. Lorgar, being the Wordsmith he is, is twisting it. and I think Malcador is right. This is a tantrum right?" I asked him and Magnus nodded, but he did not answer as he was eating his own avocado. There was silence at first as I finished my avocado then Magnus finally spoke up again.
"If this helps you, Faline," Magnus said softly, his eye looking at me, and I gazed at it back. "This form of Magnus, the one you brought to Selleton, is grateful you did. If you did not, I would be reliving every memory still. And that is a torture as well."
"Your daemon form, however" I asked curiously. "Does he know of your form being here, wouldn't he come and like, hunt you down if he wishes to reform." I saw Magnus look away slightly, then he shook his head.
"No, The form of the Daemon Prince seems to want this form left alone. I guess my entirety knows this is what was needed." I was quite satisfied with that answer. the last thing I need is a Tzeentch riddled Magnus crushing me like an ant and destroying everything here. I shuddered at the thought and Magnus seemed to know what I was thinking and chuckled. I looked slightly Aplologetic and took bite of my egg, but then Magnus spoke up.
"You have one more question for me?" I looked up again, then sighed, slighly embarrassed. I nodded.
"yes, but I just, it had to do with our little spat before we ended up here. I am sorry for saying that." I told him and he responded with a small wave of his hand.
"You are not the first to call out my insecurities and flaws, Faline." He said pointing his fork at me. "You will Not be the last."
"Okay, here is my question. you directly asked me to come here, you begged to be brought here, How come you accepted this, instead of any redemption from the Emperor?" Magnus slowed his eating, and then took the final bite of his breakfast, his plate moving from the island to the sink, and he took my own empty plate and did the same.
"Well, aside from the threat assessment he knew came from my own power, he did not want to lose me as an asset to the Imperium. I did not want his apology, because of how he handled it. He sicced the Space wolf on me, so I took that personally. You, however. You gave me something that made me decide to give you a chance. you offered solace seeing the pain."
"One more, then I will leave you alone." I said, and he nodded, before getting up from his seat. "Is my purpose to teach you all humanity? For 18 Primarchs?"
"Some need it more than others. But that is a good start." With that, he did finally leave and I looked away looking down at the book of Guilliman and I took it, walking out of the kitchen, and into the large Living room. Mounted on the large wall was a luxurious TV and under it all was crystal balls, geodes and small trinkets on the shelf below it. I managed to sit down upon the Arm chairs and sighed at the comfort of it. Malcador knows how to think of a wonderful house. I leaned back and then put my phone down upon the table, and then opened Guilliman's book. Before I began Oliver passed by and he waved.
"By the way, sis, I have Mortarion's book. So You do not have to worry about him. I got you." I gave him a thumbs up and he continued to the large bathroom down the hall, his toiletries, towel, robe and clothes in his arms. I relaxed, hearing the sound of the door closing, then the sound of the Primarchs all starting to move around. I was in a state, though. As soon as I opened the book, There has been 4 of them looking in the living room, seeing me read, and then leaving me be. Sanguinius, Dorn, Perturabo, and Lion, to be specific. I was quite shocked none of them bothered me while I was reading, they made sure I was comfortable and reading quietly. Half way into Guilliman's book, I heard Oliver and he tapped my shoulder.
"Hey, sis. I finished Mortarion's book, how are you doing?" He said, and I looked at the book, put my deer Bookmark in it and then put it down upon the table and stretched.
"I am half way done, but I was sitting down too long. How is the snow out there?" I said and Oliver shrugged.
"Seems like it is falling a good bit, but that is not stopping Rogal Dorn, and Leman being out there. Last time I saw the others, they were out there, doing some sort of training." Oliver had a devilish look about him. I knew he was going to go out there to watch Primarchs train and fight, I think he was waiting for me.
"I might join them. I need to stretch my legs anyway." Oliver looked giddy as he walked with me, and sure enough, when we walked out the Front door, we saw Lion leaning forward upon the deck railing, looking out at the front, seeing Leman and Angron circling each other in a makeshift snow arena, some snow shoveled up in piles around them. Leman was growling, baring his teeth, and Angron was in a guarded stance, but his fists up. Leman charged and Angron went to land a right hook, but Leman seamlessly dodged, and landed an uppercut, sounding out with a snarl as Angron took the hit. Angron grinned, blocking his chain of attacks, and then used his body as a spear to knock him in the snow, the snow kicking up. Oliver was beaming with excitement watching them duel and I leaned on the deck with Lion. Lion just nodded his head, watching the two Primarchs continue their battle, and then spoke up.
"Angron seems to be in more control of his fighting style, due to the ease of control of the leftover nails." Lion observed. "Leman Russ is at an advantage, however. because he trained in weather conditions like this."
"You don't say." Oliver said appreciating the view of course and I shook my head. Leman was tossed off of Angron's back, and Angron roared, the nails starting to dig a little deeper due to his fighting, and Leman skidded across the snow and he took advantage of Angron's rising fury.
"You got this Bestie!" Oliver cheered, and Angron planted himself upon the snow, and Grabbed Leman's body, holding him down from attacking, both of them snarling as they were locked in a battle of strength.
"Faline" Lion called out to me, and I looked at him. "you seem less stressed watching us fight and spar." I nodded my head, slightly and sighed.
"I was anxious due to your power levels. I mean do you blame me?" I answered. "I was nervous about the destruction that can come up. But I came to realize, that you are big boys who can control yourselves in fights and are smart enough to find places to keep the destruction to a minimum."
"I am flattered." Lion said blankly, but his tone showed he had gratitude. We continued to watch the fight, seeing Angron lifting Leman in the air and slamming him in the snow, and Leman swiped away and cut at his neck, getting up and Angron slid back.
"With Angron able to think more strategically, I see that he could have been more formidable without the nails, but with minimal bite of them, I say even with his anger rising, he can still manage against a Pack fighter like Leman Russ.." Lion spoke up again. Oliver nodded as Leman and Angron just bumped fists for a good fight well done, and Angron dropped himself in the snow, seeming he was cooling off from the fight.
"I found out cold water or anything cold helps ease the pain of the Nails too, so he is using the snow as a way to cool off." Oliver said.
"I mean that makes sense," I said, as Sanguinius came out, his wings behind him fluttering at the cold. and Oliver smiled.
"Hi there." Oliver said in a sweet voice. Sanguinius smiled and then looked out seeing Angron in the snow breathing heavily.
"Is Angron okay?" He asked, and I waved.
"He was fighting Leman and now he's using the snow to ease his nails." I said. "I decided to take a break from reading and watch you guys destroy the snow here!" I said with a bit of humor. Sanguinius grinned.
"I can make an Accurate Snow angel if you want." He quipped and Oliver and I laughed, as Angron finally got up and shook the snow off himself. I then gasped then I rifled through my pockets, then pulled out my keychain.
"You Primarchs wanna play a game?" I said, pulling out my Bambi keychain, removing it from my keys and then holding it up. Lion rose an Eyebrow, Sanguinius was observing it and Angron crossed his arms.
"A Game? will it include everyone here?" Lion asked.
"It will include every Primarch who wishes to participate." I said dangling it. "And me and Oliver. So the game is Keep away. One Primarch starts with this Keychain and the others have to try any means to possess it and the cycle continues.
"So whoever has the keychain the others have to take it from them and then they will have to keep the others from taking it." Sanguinius asked and I nodded. "I like it. who will be the first."
"Wait, there are rules." I said, holding the keychain back. "You HAVE to have the Keychain on you at all times, no storing it in any safe or box or anything. It HAS to be visible for others to see it, and easy to swipe. For Psykers, no storing it in another dimension, and Bedtimes and Mealtimes are considered blackout times. so no trying to take it during those times. No Killing or serious injury. Whoever swipes it gets a point, and whoever has the most points during our time staying in this manor, wins."
Each of them were listening and Oliver rose a hand and I pointed. "Oliver?"
"Can I blackmail to get the keychain?" Oliver asked and Lion stared at Oliver.
"That is dastardly."
"Better hand me that keychain or else people will know your skin care routine." Oliver playfully teased and Sanguinius chuckled at that and Lion crossed his arms.
"I do accept these terms and I am unable to be blackmailed, Oliver, so you can forget about it." Oliver chuckled and I looked over trying to find out who will be first. I looked at Lion and I handed the Keychain to him. He took it, then Fastened it upon his necklace.
"What better than the start of this game than to let the First be the first to have the Keychain." Sanguinius said slightly excited for this little game. I nodded in Agreement. and Lion adjusted the chain, so it was not too loose on his neck.
"And I take it you and Oliver will be joining in on this?" he asked and I nodded.
"Of course. That is my Keychain, I want it back." I said, and Lion turned to see Leman grinning. He already seemed ready to go, ready to take the keychain from Lion.
"It seems we will be beginning." Lion said, and then Without Warning, Leman swiped, and Lion dodged effortlessly and the game has begun. With Lion vaulting over the rail, Sanguinius, Leman, Oliver, Angron ran down the steps, and Lion sprinted to the outer field. I Laughed, and ran down ready to join as well, going to the outer field to chase after Lion. It seemed the first few Primarchs were quite elated at this game. Leman signaled me to get to the right, and Angron to the left, Lion and Sanguinius were locked in blocks and punches. Sanguinius fast with his jabs, and Lion even faster with his blocks. Leman tackled at him, but Lion stepped back, Causing Sanguinius to Fly up in the sky and I decided to take the chance. I ran up reaching for the keychain, but Lion swiftly, grabbed my arm, making me gasp, twirling me and then dropping me in the snow, making me laugh. Lion finally got a chance to run and Angron was hot on his heels, Charging until He finally tackled and Got Lion, ripping the Necklace from his neck, and it flew high above the sky.
"GET THE KEYCHAIN!!" I yelled in delight and Sanguinius went to dive, when it landed on the ground, in the snow. I tried to outrun the Angel, laughing as he went to grab the keychain. He landed only to see the Keychain was in front of Konrad Curze, who was looking down at it in curiosity. He picked it up and examined the Keychain, weaving it around his fingers and grinning slightly. Sanguinius floated down and the Konrad looked at Sanguinius, holding the prize, the Keychain safe around the Night Haunter's fingers
"That is Faline's, Curze." Sanguinius said, holding out his hand as a good gesture to return the keychain. Konrad looked at his brother's outstretched hand and then shielded the keychain, holding it against his chest then squinted his eyes.
"I listened to the conversation you all had outside. Said that this is a game. To keep this Keychain and defend it from the others. Is that true?" Konrad glanced at me, then I looked away, pursing my lips, trying to act innocent.
"I mean. Technically.. yes." I said, and Konrad took the Keychain and then he fastened it as a necklace around his neck and smiled. I knew Konrad had a right to play, but damn this was rough. To any Primarch who wishes to Participate.
"Damnit. you let Konrad Curze have the Keychain he will fight to keep it." Leman yelled out.
"I mean, that IS the game right?" Oliver yelled out, and Konrad grinned his usual toothy grin and sprinted away. Sanguinius bolted after his brother yelling out that he was going to get him and I slumped my shoulders.
"In Curze's defense, This game can include him as well." I said, as Lion pinched the bridge of his nose.
"That is true. But that means we all have to strategize. Konrad will expect and Foresee everything." He said and he looked out.
"Russ, Angron, Lets go. Before Sanguinius gets it."
I watched the three about to head out to get the keychain. I wondered what have I done, seeing them take a game so seriously. Angron just grumbled as he was staring down at his fingers, as if he was a little disappointed he doesn't have the Keychain.
"I almost had it, but it slipped in my fingers." He growled and Oliver sighed and patted his arm.
"Ah, Dont worry bestie. We have the Entire time we stay in this Manor, you have a chance to get it!" Angron just grunted as we all walked back to the front area of the Field,
"That was a close call, but that means we have to search for the Night Haunter to get the Keychain back. Leman?" Lion looked straight at Leman and Leman nodded leading the way to search for Konrad, when I stopped, hearing the sound of snow crunching under heavy boots. and I turned to see someone, in some beige outrider outfit, a hood over his head, and keeping his face hidden as he walked up the house. Lion stopped, and moved to the stranger, placing Oliver and me behind him, and crossing his arms, ready to fight if needed.
"State your business, this is Private Property." Lion stated loudly, and the hooded figure looked up slightly, and Lion and I saw the scarred lips, gaunt and pale tone on his face and a strand of black hair in his face, as he looked up at the First. Oliver gasped audibly and then he gently tapped me.
"Mortarion is here?!." He whispered. "I did not expect him to come so soon. Geez he is roughed up!"
Mortarion looked at Lion at first then he shifted it on over to me and Oliver, Just behind Lion and he spoke softly
"I am looking for someone named Faline Cross." His voice was deep, but there was a slight rasp of it, like a scratchy sore throat. It sounded like it hurt. I moved between Leman and Lion and I rose my hand. The Figure, who is now confirmed to be Mortarion, lowered his head to look right at me, and his lip curled.
"You must be Mortarion, Primarch of the Death Guard. I am Faline." I was slightly nervous, but then held out my hand wondering if he will take it as a greeting. I kept myself calm despite the nerves rising in meeting a new Primarch. Lion glanced at Mortarion as I kept my hand out, and watched his move. Mortarion looked at my hand as if it was oozing poison and he grimaced then looked up at my face. I got a good look at his scarred face, pale and skinny, like he has not had a good meal in ages. When his amber orange eyes met mine, I saw in them, hatred, annoyance. I had a chill up my spine, and it was not from the winter air. My hand slowly lowered.
"Good, to put the face in name of the person I will kill.." Mortarion said, and I stepped back, and Leman, Angron and Lion Shielded me from him, a shield made of superhuman beings, as Mortarion went to advance, but stopped short at the movement of his brothers. His expression showed fury now, blocked from his mission to end me then and There. I jumped back and slightly screeched, Oliver holding his chest, like he was clutching some pearls.
"You can try, Mortarion, and you will lose." Leman growled, and I stepped back a bit more, trying to move away from the entire situation. Oliver was slack jawed, wide mouth, seeing how fast everything escalated.
"Wait, wait, Why do you want to kill me? I did not do anything." I said out loud and Mortarion shot a glare at me. It was a type of glare that looked like he was going to melt me with his sight. I hated it.
"My Legion was in danger, Rotting from the inside out, suffering from the plagues that I could have saved them from. Only for me to be plucked away from them, to a new place, a new world. and was told that the Reason of this was someone named FALINE CROSS!! You took me from my legion. They could be DEAD because of you!"
"Wait, wait. you were.. with your Legion?! I dont understand, I—" I tried to get more from his rant but he Pushed further on Leman, Leman growling outwardly, trying to keep Mortarion away from me.
"I do not have to explain myself to you, Psyker. You took me away from them and you will pay with your life!" he growled, but Leman pushed him back. Mortarion snarled at Leman and shouted at the top of his lungs. "MOVE NOW!"
"You are not going through and touching Faline, Mortarion, Back off now!" Leman yelled. Mortarion knew going to me and Oliver was going through Angron, Lion and Leman Russ, and He paced like an Agitated tiger in a cage, then he finally pointed at me, his tone turning accusatory.
"What Kind of witch are you to be able to use my brothers as barricades, and influence them to defend you."
"Mortarion, she is no Psyker." Lion declared. "she has no power, or abilities. We already checked."
"Liar." Mortarion accused. "If she was no Psyker, why would you be shielding her from me. She is the very key to get back to my legion." Oliver was now frowning at all of this and he was sighing, which I know is his sign he is annoyed.
"Oh my goodness, can you stop whining at least? I was the one who read your book, not my sister. Where is the same energy for me, Mortarion." Oliver called out and I looked at my brother. Mortarion knitted his brow.
"Who are you?" he demanded.
"Oliver Cross, Faline's better looking brother."
"Matters not. I can kill you then for taking me from my—"
Before Mortarion finished that sentence, Angron put his hand around Mortarion's throat and he growled, closing it around Mortarion's neck and bringing him closer. Oliver dropped his jaw at the action.
"You TOUCH Oliver, Mortarion, I will snap your skinny little neck." Angron gritted his teeth, his fury rising at the mere thought of Mortarion attacking Oliver. Mortarion gazed at Angron's snarling face, and Oliver had both his hands on his cheeks, hiding his blush.
"Angron, You know you do not have to snap his neck for me. I am just your nurse." He said, trying to de-escalate Angron. Angron lightly moved his head to look at Oliver with the corner of his eye.
"I Do not have to, That is true." he Said lifting Mortarion further above Angron's height, Making Mortarion grip the World Eater's massive hand, trying to pry the fingers off his neck. "But I will if anyone dares lay a hand on you." Angron finished still sneering at his brother. Oliver now covered his face and he made a noise that sounded close to a boiling teapot. I finally sighed then stepped forward, and rose my hands.
"Can we all just calm down." I called out, and patted Angron's Shoulder. Angron huffed sizing up his brother, then he lowered Mortarion back in the snow, releasing his grip from his neck. "Mortarion, if you are willing, we can tell you all that is going on. you at least deserve an explanation." I said to Mortarion as he rubbed his neck and then looked over at me, hearing my attempt to calm things down. He still was on Heavy Guard, glaring and not being as receptive as the others.
"I do not even think there is any explanation. Some woman, who claims to have no abilities, no powers, yet my brothers defend her, and her brother is the cause of my appearance to this place." He continued to pace again, and kept his eye on both me and Oliver. I looked at Oliver and then back at Mortarion.
"I Do not know what was going on before you arrived, and I do not know what your Legion is going through before you ended up here, and for that I am sorry, but please, Can you let us talk to you before anything, explain what is going on, and explain why all of your brothers are here?"
Mortarion squinted his eyes at first, glared even, and he trned his head. Oliver was watching all of this. Angron was ready to pounce on him again if he threatened either of us. Lion and Leman were both crossing their arms, watching the entire Encounter, and sized up Mortarion. The Death Guard Primarch knew he was outnumbered, and outmatched, so he relented and he followed all of us back into the front door, out of the cold and out of the now falling snow.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Fireplace was lit and it brought a warmth in the house, that made me relax, even with my coat now on the rack. Oliver and Angron sat upon the couch, and Lion leaned on the doorframe, while Mortarion walked in, taking in his surroundings. He made no move to sit, when I sat upon the Armchair.
"This is too much to take in," Mortarion said.
"I have not said anything." I said to him
"You do not have to. One moment I was on the Endurance, then the next, I was in snow covered hills, shivering and not even plagued by anything that hit my legion. Are all my brothers here."
"Not yet" Oliver spoke up. "Faline is working on Guilliman and she will be reading Vulkan's book. Mortarion just nodded, then removed his hood, his black hair in thin strands falling down and Oliver grimaced at how sickly he looked.
"Oh honey, you stay with me and I'll help you get healthy." Oliver blurted and Mortarion turned his head to Oliver, as if he had the audacity to say that to him.
"Anyway" Mortarion said trying to ignore Oliver's offer for help (which i knew pissed off Oliver), "That means Horus is here. Let me speak to him." There was silence. I looked at Lion and Angron and they turned away.
"About that. Horus will not be joining us either." I said finally. Mortarion squinted his eyes.
"And that is decided by who? You? Do you have the gavel to judge which Brother gets taken to you or not?" I frowned hearing that question and I spoke again.
"N-no. I have no choice on that matter. If I did have the choice, I would have brought him here." I really meant it, Horus would have been here by now, if it were up to me, but somehow Mortarion giving me that skeptical and hostile face made me pause. I continued again. "It was the Emperor's choice." I finally said it. Something in Mortarion's gaze changed. It shifted entirely from caution to pure aggression. Like the mention of the Emperor triggered his fight response. He grinned, not from happiness, but maliciously, like he found a flaw in something.
"oh. So there it is." He began, an ironic laugh coming from his lips. "The Emperor set this up. My Father. A Man who claims what is right for Humanity. Creating us to destroy those that are not in his vision. The Tyrant with the face of benevolence. You are merely an agent of The emperor, blindly loyal to him, bending the knee to a man who did not care for us." He turned away now, moving to the door, "I will not participate in this farce, and You will not force me to. Take me back to my legion, now. I refuse to listen to loyal lapdogs of my Father." he said, his teeth gritted at the mentions of the Emperor.
"I have made NO statement that we were loyal to the Emperor, Mortarion. This all started when he gave me you and your brother's books and wrote to me "give them a new perspective" that was it."
Mortarion just scoffed turning away, not listening or swaying to my objections. He turned back, then he stepped toward me, taking a single step with cause.
"You may not say it, but these actions I am hearing about show you are." I stepped back and Lion got off of the door ready to intervene. "You accepted this, from the Emperor. You Accepted my brothers here in this new place, for the Emperor. You make friends with them. FOR the Emperor. It just screams reconnaissance and then sabotage. How do I know you are not relaying everything we are telling you to him, like a little bird in his ear whispering what you find out about us? I do not accept this at all. Take me back and maybe I have some time left to save my Legion."
I sighed in exasperation and then looked at Oliver. Oliver just shrugged. He had nothing else to say. Neither did I. All I can do is tell him the truth. They were stuck here. "I do not have the Emperor on Speed dial if that is what you think. He will not even talk to me." I spoke in frustration. all I could do was tell him all I know and what I can control. "There is no possible way I can take you back to where you were before, there is no way to return you. I am sorry." I said in defeat and Mortarion continued to stare at me like I was dirt.
"Of course." He sneered, straightening up, "Leave me in a world I do not know of, only to be tormented by a couple of weak beings who claim are not psykers loyal to the tyrant that I am supposed to call Father. Just my Luck." Mortarion just turned around, and he was facing Lion now, who was looking down at him, glaring him down and Mortarion just returned his gaze with equal hatred. Mortarion then shoulder checked his brother and then walked down the hall of the Manor and disappeared in one of the rooms. As soon as I heard the door slam, I exhaled and held my face with both my hands. Oliver just smiled, trying to ease the already heavy tension.
"He seems nice. Charming really." Oliver said playfully. I stared at him and Oliver got up. "Okay he is prickly and whiny. so what? He is pissed. He did not want to tell us what was going on and why he wanted to go back to his legion and he accused us of being Psykers. Did you not hear him call you a Psyker? With a Hard R!? The man has issues."
"You don't say!" I said aloud as Angron got up and Lion continued looking down the hall where Mortarion walked down.
"He is not receptive to anything we say. so what can get him to warm up to us or even adapt to this new place to him?" Oliver asked.
"I don't think there is ANY changing his mind." I said putting my hands down from my face, and pointed down the hall. "He is set on talking to Horus and Horus can not even come here. and You heard how he hates Psykers so I can't ask Malcador. This one stumps me for sure." I ran my hand in my hair, the stress getting to me.
"Well, here is what we got from that entire encounter!" Oliver said, then counting each point with his hand. "He hates all forms of Tyranny, he hates Psykers, so Magnus and Malcador will not get to him. And the Emperor is Both a Tyrant AND a psyker in his eyes, therefore, he hates US because he believes we are boot licking agents of the Emperor."
"What if he was right, though" I asked, and Lion turned to me, Angron straightened, but the faint twitch of his face showed now the Nails were itching at him. "What if the Emperor is using us to get the Rest of the Primarchs in a better emotional state and then Start over for the Imperium, so he can do this over again with out the Heresy?" I asked. Oliver sighed, then looked at both Angron and Lion. I knew what that entailed. I did not know if that was the end game for the Emperor, but it was a possibility
"Then that is the biggest dick move The Emperor would ever do. But he also has to factor in if any of the Primarchs will return to that time." Oliver pointed out and then I lowered my head, now fully thinking. That does seem like something the Emperor would do. Send them back, let me and Oliver befriend them, give them humanity, but then send them back in their future, and use the effort to try to avoid the Heresy. I got up and then I grabbed Guilliman's Book.
"I need to Talk to Malcador." I said, and Oliver nodded but before we Dispersed, Sanguinius appeared upon the balcony, holding up my keychain and grinned. Lion gently chuckled, and I smiled, seeing Sanguinius was now holding the chain.
"I will come after you, Angel!" I called out, the slight levity just what we need after Mortarion.
"No, It is my turn for the Keychain, Come here." Angron stomped to the Stairs and Sanguinius silently moved down the hall, laughing, Angron now focused on the Keychain game. I kept it to myself, but I hoped Angron got the Keychain.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I entered the Office, seeing one single man on the desk, and it was Alpharius. I slumped my shoulders, only for him to look up at me.
"Malcador is not here, Faline" He said, and I just sighed. "you can talk to me instead." He quipped, steepling his fingers.
"Uhh, I think I will pass, Alpharius. It was just something between me and Malcador. Mortarion is here and well, things went south" I said, and suddenly I heard a step behind me, I turned to see Omegon behind me.
"But we are great listeners. perhaps this has to do on what you think The Emperor wants out of this entire ordeal. Why does he want all of his sons to be given a life like this." Omegon, or Alpharius asked, and I squinted my eyes.
"Please Don't act like the Siamese cats from Lady and the Tramp. I am going to get headaches." I said, and Alpharius just got up from his chair. They were silent, Omegon was already gone again, and I just rolled my eyes. "You guys have been listening all along. Why should I speak to you?"
"Don't you want our input?" They both said in Unison. I closed my eyes and then nodded then spoke to them both.
"What if he did this to give you Primarchs Emotional stability and start over on the Great Crusade and avoid the Horus Heresy."
"That is not out of character for Him to do such, an intriguing notion." Alpharius said circling me now like a vulture.
"Are you going to talk to me and respond or are you going to be twin yes men and just agree with my words." I snapped and Alpharius frowned.
"And what is the reasoning on why you want my thoughts? Why should I confer with you and open up to you? There is no bond here. You get annoyed when I circle you. You treat me like a nuisance. Why should I have a productive argument with you."
"YOU JUST SAID FOR ME TO TALK TO YOU!" I said, now frustrated. "You asked if I wanted your input!"
Omegon just walked around casually and sat on the desk. "Just because you want our input, does not mean we will give it."
"Exactly" Alpharius joined in with his twin. "I said we can talk, not for me to share my mind with you. There is a difference."
I rose my hands, and Curled my fingers, imagining myself strangling this Primarch with pure irritation. My eyes were closed, I heard his chuckle then I looked at him, Omegon behind him, like his shadow.
"Why do you do this to me." I said in a whisper and they both smiled, as if in unison which creeped me out.
"We like you, but not in the attraction sense. You are intriguing, and You are fun to make angry. We have not had much fun like this in ages." Alpharius said and I just froze in pure shock. he just wanted to do this because it is… fun?!
"So I am just entertainment to you?" I said hearing the two moving to cross their arms, still in unison. Just watching both of them have this synchronized move.
"Is that a problem?" Again, they spoke as one.
"YES!" He went to speak until Malcador walked up to us. I sighed in relief and Malcador met Alpharius' gaze then the Primarch looked back down at me.
"Until we talk again, Faline. Enjoy your heartfelt conversation with the Sigillite. I have heard word that a Keychain is up for grabs in a little game. sounds fun." they walked away, and out the door, and I wanted to strangle him. Malcador can see my own thoughts and he smirked.
"Do not engage with the Alpha Legion's endeavors."
"They just admitted they enjoy making me mad, just as a hobby. Enough talking about them, they pissed me off." Malcador walked away, hearing me.
"That is what they wanted. and they got it. Expect more encounters from them then" He said, then pulled out the three books of the Horus Rising trilogy and then he spread them out.
"However, that entire interaction you had with them is a stark contrast to what I have seen of the Primarchs, I say this is a delightful change. Now why did you wish to come see me?" He said, leaning upon the desk and then I finally told him all that has happened with Mortarion, his reception to this new environment, and his aggression. Malcador seemed like he was listening, his mouth thin as he kept his eyes on me, and I frowned.
"The very thing that makes me pause about the whole thing" I spoke looking away. "What if The emperor is indeed just doing this to give them emotional stability and start over on the great Crusade? So the Heresy doesn't happen?" Malcador looked away, his hands toying gently with the three books and he sighed outwardly, his eyes closed, as he was going through a lot of emotions, maybe some memories. I was not sure.
"The heresy will happen no matter how adjusted the Primarchs are. They have a rivalry that is deep seated into them even before they were separated into the cosmos. I have petitioned to make the Primarchs into women to prevent such things, but it was dismissed as a joke."
"That would make it so much worse." I scoffed. "You would not have the Horus Heresy, You would have the Mix of Heathers and Mean girls combined, from Fulgrim saying welcome to the Candy store, and then stop making fetch happen to Angron!" Malcador stared at me, listening to my own opinion on it. He lowered his eyebrow, unsure of what to say or how to react to it. "You should watch them, though." He was silent and then the door opened.
"Did you get your answers you needed, Cross?" he asked as I got up heading out the door.
"No. I still do not know how to get Mortarion to warm up."
"Just be Yourself. the Same advice can be given to Oliver." He said, and as soon as I left the room, Malcador closed the door. My eyes closed and i groaned audibly. Why was he being Cryptic as well. What is with all these men being just as cryptic? I heard heavy steps, only to see Mortarion walking away as soon as I caught him in my sight. I went after him, trying to catch up to him.
"Wait. Mortarion. please. Can I—"
"No." He said, then slammed a door a little too roughly, the sound causing Perturabo to open the door next to me. He peeked out, a rough and annoyed look on his face. He looked down at me and I sighed.
"Mortarion. He did not take him coming here so well." I told him, and Perturabo grunted, then opened the door wider for me to come in. I walked in only to see his room cleaned up, the birdcage with his blue and green budgies, but covered in a blanket. They were silent, but I knew they were in there. I went to touch the blanket only for him to gently move my hand away.
"They are asleep, Faline" He said moving to the desk again. I nodded walking with him and I looked at his bookshelf. They had a large amount of books organized alphabetically and sorted neatly, with small bookends to hold them up.
"What happened to Mortarion? You and Magnus read the books, all of them from what I heard you all did." Perturabo looked up at the bookshelf then back at me, placing his hand upon his desk.
"Why do you need to know?" He said, putting his sketching pencils away, then stowing them in the drawers.
"He arrived here, only to say I took him away from Legion, dooming them to something." Perturabo did not look up, but I knew his face showed that he was aware of what I was talking about. He sat upon his chair and I moved to him, only for him to move back. I looked slightly confused at it, but I did not make too much of a fuss about it. Maybe he did not want to be affectionate right now.
"He succumbed to the rot to save his legion. Typhon betrayed him, then caused him to ascend to the Daemon Prince of Nurgle." He put his papers away, save for one, which was my upgraded library. "If he came here before that time, You are not going to sway him from anything, He is more petulant than anyone else."
"I kind of got that impression when he called me the Emperor's Lapdog. But how can I tell him that was not my fault to begin with. I don't know when Any of you arrived, unless you tell me the last thing you remembered before coming to Selleton."
"Have you thought to leave him alone?" He leaned back on his chair, looking at me. He had flannel pants on, and he was shirtless, making me unapologetically stare at his chest. "He obviously has no interest in trying to adapt, and forcing him is only going to result in something maybe worse than what Lorgar did to you." Perturabo said, "You put yourself in these dangerous situations only to end up getting hurt, crying, or even stressed out." I looked up from his chest and he crossed his arms, only making the staring worse.
"Oh come on, You and your brothers have gone through so much worse. What all of the sudden you want me to be careful?" I asked him and he kept his gaze on me,
"There is a distinguishment between what I went through and what you are enduring. I can mend easily, I can repair my legions, and get rid of inefficiencies. You however, cannot." I looked away and then took out Guilliman's bookmarked book and put it on the end table.
"yeah, That is a major difference, I know, but there is another difference to this as well." I walked up to him and he stiffened again at the feeling of my hands on his cheeks, his blue eyes focused on me. I leaned to kiss his nose and he sat still as I did it. "I am not doing this to gain the approval of the Emperor."
"That is one, Faline" He grumbled, his face flushing red at the touch. I chuckled then gently tapped his face, and he kept his gaze on me, his look softened as he was getting used to affection. He was never the Affectionate type, but alone, he can let loose. slightly.
"You need to sometimes fall to me if you are overwhelmed," He said, gripping my wrist gently and holding my hand. I shook my head, and it was his turn now to put his fingers upon my chin holding my head still. "Do not shake your head at me."
"Why not? It will be worse. I call upon my boyfriend Primarch to solve all my problems? what does that make me." I said to him and he averted his eyes. Like he was trying to analyze what I said. I saw a slight glimpse in his eyes, then he just sighed, looking away, letting my face go. I gently touched his bicep and he looked away, but I can feel his flex. He sighed, getting up and then walking to the bed,
"Come. You will lay here, finish your book, and rest with me." He directed and I rose an eyebrow.
"Is that a command?" I asked him.
"I can make it a command." He said, not knowing if he was flirting or not. I grinned and he knitted his brow slightly at my reaction,
"Fine, let me shower and change and I will join you. I was outside in the snow." He nodded and I handed him my phone, then walked out the door, but he called out to me.
"Where is the Bambi Keycharm?"
"Sanguinius has it."
"Why?"
"It is a game I made for you Primarchs. Try to get it from your brothers " I said and he rose an eyebrow at the mention of my keychain being in a game. His only response is a grunt, and he put the phone back down upon the end table, and I left to get myself ready for bed. When I returned to the door, I heard whispers and I turned to look down the hall, only to see Lorgar and Mortarion talking to each other, Mortarion still looked annoyed, but Lorgar was speaking to him. Lorgar turned to see me, holding my robe and my blanket. Lorgar and I looked at each other, and then I opened Perturabo's door only to see him reading one of his books
"Lorgar is out there." I said, and Perturabo did not look up.
"Do not worry about him," He said still focused on his books. The night continued to pass, Perturabo remained in the bed, reading and even making small notes in the margins of the books. He glanced at me, seeing me clad in my warm pajamas. long sleeved, blue with black polka dots, and my hair in a silk scarf. I yawned, laying upon the bed, then taking my own book, feeling Perturabo's gaze on me.
"Oliver and I thought of something about all this. and It has made me think." I said to him, opening to the page I left off on.
"What is it?" He asked me, as I put my bookmark down.
"What if the Emperor wanted you all emotionally adjusted, then return you back to your time, to redo the Great Crusade without the Horus Heresy?" Perturabo froze slightly and he looked down at me, listening to me at first, then I started to read. I can feel his gaze on me, at first, then I felt his arm around my shoulders again. Silent, but keeping me warm while I read next to him. He seemed to be contemplating on the question as much as I was. I wanted to ask him, but he just seemed relaxed, like he was not wanting to speak. He just wanted me to be in his presence, reading with him or around him, and honestly this was the most relaxed i have been here in the Manor.
"This would be nicer if I had my tea light candles." I spoke up playfully, and he nodded.
"hmm" Is all he said in response, but I knew he listened. I smiled slightly, and he was reading, and I leaned in, and he let me kiss his cheek, and I continued reading. As it got darker in the room, my eyes were starting to get heavy, my book now upon the end table, and Perturabo adjusted me, for me to sleep. He clicked off the light and I only heard his relaxed sigh, Warm against him, and sheltered from the cold.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Morning was quiet and with a new blanket of snow, it was brighter than usual. I Woke up, and I felt Perturabo's cables on my chin as I felt him resting in my arms. I yawned and was ready to move slowly out of Perturabo's grip, when the Door was knocked on, making Perurabo's eyes fling open in full alert.
"Faline! Faline! you awake?" Oliver called out. I stretched and yawned, Perturabo moving from me and giving me some space to get up.
"yeah, I'm up, give me a minute." I said, then I swung my legs from the bed and then got up, grabbing a robe and then heading to the door. I heard Perturabo groaning in the bed as I opened the door and saw Oliver, wide awake, giddy, and giggling.
"He's here, he's here!! and He's already the love of my life." I rubbed my eyes as I yawned again,
"Who?" I said, my voice sounding groggy.
"Roboute Guilliman! And he is EATING MY PANCAKES!!" Oliver squeaked and I shook my head. I nodded.
"Okay, give me a minute, and I will join you." I said, then I looked at Perturabo and he had his back to me, still resting upon the bed. "Bo? you wish to have some breakfast?"
"I will be fine. You go ahead." Perturabo said. "Besides. I do not wish to see Roboute Guilliman just yet." I noticed his tone. Distant, annoyed. Grumpy? Maybe he is not a morning person? Oliver rose an eyebrow at Perturabo. as if he was noticing something. I nodded as I ran a hand upon his bicep and I left to the door, shutting it. Oliver looked at me, a slight hint of concern on his face.
"Is your man okay? He seems more.. Grumpy than he usually is?" He said. and I shrugged.
"He is fine. I guess he is not a morning person. He was fine last night."
"You guys Do anything last night?" He devilishly grinned and I gasped.
"We are Going Steady! we are not doing anything TOO quick. I know how we got together was steamy, but it seemed he did not want to do that again too soon." I said to him and Oliver gave me a teasing grin.
"Honey, If I had a Primarch hunky man in my hands, I would be all over his ass like Mud on a freaking pig. Oink!" He said and I bursted out laughing as we went down the steps.
"Oliver STOP!" I laughed, as we turned the corner to the kitchen area. "Okay, so you said he is in the Kitchen?" We turned the corner, and stopped by the door way to the dining area.
"Yes, and he is eating my pancakes! He's here and Oh he is so dreamy." Oliver whispered, "He complimented my Pancakes and gave me budgeting tips! I am going to husband this man so bad." I shook my head.
"You know I am shocked you did not say this to every Primarch that arrived when you started help." I stated back and he laughed.
"Well, you can Blame the Emperor for making hot men" I laughed slightly, finally going into the Dining area, only to see Rogal Dorn with a stack of Oliver's Blueberry pancakes, sitting across from Roboute Guilliman. Short cropped blonde hair, cool blue eyes focused on the plate of Pancakes in front of him, a blue polo shirt with a white collar and a scarf. He was talking to Rogal Dorn, who was in a yellow silk pajama set, and in front of him was a large stack of Pancakes as well.
"Oh, speaking of. Faline. good morning." Rogal caught me at the door and I waved, closing my robe. Oliver was giddy behind me as I walked up and then held out my hand,
"Morning. You must be Guilliman. I am Faline." He was a breath of fresh air compared to Mortarion., how he greeted me, and how calm he was. He looked at my hand and then took it softly, but kept a nice grip, shaking it in greeting.
"Faline. I heard much about you from Dorn. I am Roboute Guilliman." He looked past me and Oliver was waving cheerfully. He smiled.
"I have met Oliver. He makes some excellent Pancakes." He nodded to Oliver with recognition and Oliver just giggled.
"I agree with Guilliman, Oliver. These are some adequate pancakes," Rogal complimented and Oliver just fluttered his eyes.
"Stop it. you are making me blush too much. Oh my goodness." He said, and Rogal nodded his head in agreement.Already this was turning to a nice morning and Oliver immediately was gushing over the compliments.
"You keep complimenting my brother he's gonna go off like a firework." I joked and Roboute smiled, as he took a bite of his pancakes.
"Well, on a more serious note. I was talking to Rogal about all this, and it seems this is something arranged by Father himself?"
Yes" I said to him, moving to grab a plate to get some of Oliver's Pancakes "All of your brothers are here, except Vulkan, but A lot has happened since—"
"Did you say, all of my brothers?" Guilliman asked me directly, and I paused, looking at him as Oliver handed me a plate with two pancakes. I saw Guilliman's relaxed face turn to something serious.
"uhh, Yeah, except for Vulkan." I said to him, not sure why his change of tone gave me pause. I went to speak, but his face turned serious and now looking down at the pancakes.
"Do you realize the damage they all have done to the Imperium. Do you realize their actions." He spoke in a criticizing tone. I frowned, but I moved closer to him.
"I get that, Guilliman, but…" I tried to find the right words trying to tell Roboute this was a good thing. That having them away from such an environment can help them heal. That was the truth. "The Emperor told me to give me a new persepctive. I wanted to do it, and yes they are aware of what they have done. This is not for forgiveness, this is to heal from all you went through."
"Example?" Guilliman asked, and I looked at Dorn as he was casually eating the pancakes, then I rose my finger.
"Angron!" I said happily. "He first arrived here, riddled with the Nails, rampaging, but every single one of us worked together to get him placated." Dorn nodded in Agreement.
"Yes. this was a Feat that the lot of us have not expected. We resorted to putting him down, but Faline went against that, and transported him to the Nearest major Hospital and had most of his Nails removed. He currently has less outbursts, and is accompanied by a nurse, which is Oliver himself."
Oliver grinned then he pulled his phone out, and then showed the screen to Guilliman, to confirm this. Angron's ongoing accommodations, his schedule and his prognosis. Guilliman, being a man of documentation looked into it and he rose his eyebrow at how much Angron was given. He sighed outwardly, handing Oliver his phone and ran a hand down his face.
"I… I am not sure what to feel about this. On one hand I am glad Angron is getting the help he needs from those accursed things on his head, and on the other, he helped alongside more of his brothers in the Siege of Terra,"
"If I recall this, Guilliman, you were not there." Dorn said, not even blinking, and putting his mug to his lips. Roboute casted a glare at Rogal.
"I was on my way! Just because I was not there does not mean the damage should not affect me."
Oliver and I looked at each other, and we backed up, as Rogal gently lowered his coffee mug and then opened his eyes.
"I was held back by Horus, Sanguinius and Lion and I were kept from reaching to Terra. Speaking of Horus. Where is HE!?" Guilliman was rising in fury, now getting up, and Dorn just stared at him.
"Do not act like a Fool, Guilliman. Faline is currently incapable of bringing Horus to this time."
"Act like a fool, Rogal? What was your course of action just after Father was interred upon the throne? Establishing the Black Templars and start crusades with limited resources that were drained from the Siege." Dorn slowly rose from his seat and he had a face I have not seen at all. it was wrenched in annoyance at his brother. Oliver blinked.
"Is it weird that Dorn might be sexy with an angry face." He whispered and I just shook my head, just letting the Imperial fist and the Ultramarine Primarchs argue.
"It was Feasible to destroy the scattered legions after the death of Horus and you wanted us to hold back!"
"It was to Strategize!" Guilliman yelled. "We lost brothers! We lost our Father, The Golden throne was Damaged! We lost lives, resources, brothers in arms!" I wanted to speak up, until Oliver and I heard steps and then we saw Sanguinius walk in and we stared at him, Dressed in Gray sweatpants, no shirt, his wings folded behind him and his face wrenched in morning grumpiness.
"Will you two stop arguing over something that none of us can control?!" he said, with a slight growl and Oliver covered his mouth gently. Guilliman stopped, seeing Sanguinius, and he paused in his argument with Rogal Dorn only to watch Sanguinius, his eyes focused on the brother that should have been dead.
"Sanguinius? Are you… actually here.. in the flesh?" Sanguinius intensely glared at Guilliman.
"Do not change the subject. I am here hearing you two squabbling about what happened in the siege of Terra. and you two are actually loud for a Primarch's ears. Some Primarchs are trying to sleep." He growled, annoyed at the fighting. Roboute just sighed and Rogal sat back down upon his chair and cleared his throat. I never took Sanguinius to be grumpy in the mornings, so this was a new thing to see.
"Apologies for the outbursts and heated arguments, Sanguinius." Rogal Dorn apologized, to be returned with a nod from Sanguinius. "Our intention was not to rouse you from your slumber." The Angel huffed and Oliver quickly scurried to the stove, with the massive pile of pancakes and then got Sanguinius a plate, and then handed it to him. Sanguinius paused at first and he softened his gaze, then took it.
"Yes, Guilliman, I am here. After my death, something otherworldly seemed to have awakened me, and healed me after my fight with Horus. I later came to find out it was father himself who did this. He did not resurrect me at that time, but here, in Selleton. It is an adjustment. a Lot of citizens love to see a real life angel and pray in the church that I am here and blessing the town, but worship of me is not foreign." He kept talking while he carefully drizzled some Maple syrup on his pancakes. "There was a woman who fell to her knees while she was camping out in the park and prayed for her daughter to find a husband. I am glad my foresight came in handy for that, when I told her she already met her son in law, he just does not know it." When he cut his pancakes up, I went to speak up, only to be cut off by a sardonic laugh and Konrad coming in, grabbing 4 to 5 pancakes and rolling his eyes.
"Awwww, how sweet," Curze sarcastically wheezed, stopped staring at Guilliman, sniffed him once and then scoffed. "I thought I smelled Beans.."
"Beans? I didn't cook beans.." Oliver asked, whipping his head around. "Should I?"
"Good, because Guilliman will be here counting them" The Night Haunter said, observed the syrup, then he shrugged and grabbed the entire bottle. Roboute just gently tossed his hands up at the slight insult from Curze.
"Good to see you too, Konrad Curze." He grumbled at the Night Lord. "I am shocked you are not in anyone else's skin, naked and trying to terrorize people in the dark, you horrid creature." Guilliman cut and Curze looked back at him, grinning.
"What can I say. I have mended my ways. I am a little saint. See the little halo on my head? It is all thanks to this sweet little deer here, Faline. How can I ever thank you?" he playfully said, doing a mock prayer gesture. When he looked at me I blinked, staring in confusion. and I looked into Konrad's eyes, something I will never get over. Those void unblinking eyes that love to send chills down my spine. I swallowed the lump in my throat.
"You are… welcome?" I said, not sure what to say on that. Konrad chuckled and grinned a toothy grin then ripped into a Pancake then drank the syrup. When he finished the bite he looked at Sanguinius.
"Sanguinius, my brother, you should have told the woman how she died. Makes a much better reaction, than them touching you and thanking you for your presence." he said, then went to walk away.
"I am not like that thank you, Curze, and do not take the Syrup, other People need to eat." He ordered, and Curze ignored him, taking the pancakes and the bottle of syrup.
"Oliver had three bottles purchased already, he can live without this one." and with that, Curze left. Oliver opened the pantry only to show Konrad was right and put a replacement one on the counter.
"He was right. I mean dealing with Primarchs, I could not really skimp." He said, looking to Roboute who was still staring at the hall where Konrad disappeared to. He was still thinking, contemplating and I noticed his knitted brow of worry. and I moved to the Primarch.
"Curze is still Curze, Faline." Guilliman said. "He is still himself, despite what he says. What is he supposed to be here, eating pancakes normally and stealing syrup bottles after all he has done, and all he has helped facilitate? I.." He paused, looking down at his last bite of pancakes and then sighed. "I am not sure if I can condone this, Miss Cross. I am sorry."
"No, Do not fault this on Faline, brother." Sanguinius said getting up and his wings unfurling. "She has really made an impact in a lot of our traitorous brothers. She is actually close to Perturabo." Guilliman looked at me in shock and Oliver laughed.
"Ohhh, when I heard from Fulgrim what he saw. Perturabo had her ON A TABLE THEIR MOUTHS GLUED TO EACH OTHER!! and judging from what Perturabo was hiding, it was gonna be more if Fulgrim didn't come in." Oliver laughed and Dorn just closed his eyes, shaking his head slowly.
"THAT BASTARD TOLD YOU!? HE CAN'T KEEP HIS THIN MOUTH SHUT!" I yelled. Oliver was laughing happily, all while Guilliman looked in slight shock.
"wait, you were Intimate with a Primarch!?" I sighed and then i shook my head.
"The most we did was sleep in the same bed, we are taking it slowly. I am not rushing into anything. but can We talk about something else, PLEASE!?" Suddenly, I heard heavy steps, and heavy breathing, only to turn to see Angron in some Spongebob sweatpants and grunting quietly, as he looked at Oliver's pancake stacks, grabbed a plate, took a hefty 7 pancakes and then drizzled some syrup. Guilliman stared at Angron, noticing that we told him the truth. his hair was overtaking the Nails, that Angron was calm and eating some pancakes instead of roaring in pain.
"Hey Bestie, they are blueberry pancakes, so. yeah!" Oliver said happily, and Angron just nodded and he spoke.
"Thanks." He spoke only one word as he walked back out of the room, enjoying his breakfast. Guilliman just stared at me and Oliver then sighed outwardly.
"I need to think about this. I need time to process all of this. Because no matter what Angron is wearing, what Curze is doing, which Primarchs is being intimate with whom, this is too much for me to take in. What of the Memories, the scars. The pain!? Trillions of lives lost because of them, and here they are. I.." I slumped my shoulders. he noticed my slightly hurt expression and he got up to me and placed a hand on my shoulder.
"This effort you are obviously making. You and your brother. This is commendable, I mean aside from visualizing Perturabo fraternizing, but the fact you are doing something for my brothers, I appreciate this effort. but…" His voice trailed off and I nodded. I heard this before, and It was ingrained in my mind, they did not have to finish the sentence.
"you will never forget what was done in the Horus Heresy. In The Siege of Terra. I know. I am sorry, Guilliman." I spoke with somewhat a defeated tone. Guilliman nodded, his face did not show triumph over what I said, just a soft and grief stricken expression.
"I am sorry, Faline." he began. "But if it were up to me, if it were my choice. NONE of my traitorous brothers should be given any form of redemption, or have a chance to start over, after all they have done."
"Roboute." Sanguinius began and then the Ultramarine's Primarch just got up, and then he finished his last bite, before washing his plate and utensils, then put them on the dish rack.
"I must contemplate. Oliver, I wish to thank you for the Pancakes. They were lovely," He said, softly. Oliver smiled slightly, and Roboute returned with his own as I sat down and Guilliman walked into one of the halls. I ran a hand in my hair and Then grumbled.
"It is not Redemption, its just.. I honestly, do not know anymore." I said, and Dorn returned to his own set of pancakes, carefully cutting them, and then looked at me.
"What do you think this is? A New life. A Way to atone for our sins? You have to be the one to determine that. Not Every Primarch has done the same action in our time. Perhaps it is different with each Primarch." The Imperial Fists Primarch asked, giving me some insight, despite Guilliman's departure.
"I never thought of it that way." I admitted, and Dorn took a bite of his pancakes, then Oliver nodded.
"Actually, Rogal here makes some great points. Perhaps this time here is different for each Primarch. It should be up to us to find out what is it each of them need." Oliver rose his hand and then he sassily looked down the hall and then scoffed, seeing something I have not seen yet. " But, can we agree that Lorgar needs an ass beating?" Oliver said as Lorgar walked in, Oliver's face now sour and I looked over at him, Lorgar coming in and taking some pancakes.
"Usually, some people whisper their grievances if they want to be rude to the person coming in." Lorgar said, but Oliver crossed his arms.
"Oh, my bad let me do this right then." He put his hand to his mouth and leaned to Rogal's ear as if about to whisper in his ear but he kept his same volume.
"Lorgar needs an Ass beating." he said loud enough for everyone to hear still. Sanguinius just closed his eyes, as if stifling some sort of laugh, but he kept his face calm. Rogal was still holding his stoic look but he glanced at Lorgar, gaging his own reaction. Lorgar frowned rolling his eyes taking three pancakes on a plate.
"That was not a whisper." He muttered.
"It was called a stage whisper in Theater, Lorgar." Oliver said curtly. "Hope you enjoy the Pancakes. Just because you are an asshole, doesn't mean I'm gonna make you go hungry."
"I would" I muttered, and ate my food, while Lorgar rose an eyebrow.
"so charitable, little nurse." He said, then left, and I looked at Oliver.
"As Much as I can't stand Lorgar, I think he just needs to reflect on what he has done and what those actions he did has resulted. and to stay away from Kor Phaeron and Erebus." I spoke up then I finally looked over at Dorn who was still with us and finishing his food.
"Am I right here?" I asked him. Rogal blinked, looking at the hall where Lorgar left and then he sighed getting up to wash his own plate. The sink turned on and he scrubbed his plate.
"Lorgar has been told repeatedly to not worship Father, and his consequence for repeated disobedience was the Destruction of Monarchia. He brought it upon himself, and he has no one to blame but himself. I see your sentiment, I see your Empathy. But Lorgar's actions is the equivalent of a child throwing a tantrum." Rogal finished his washing and then put his items upon the rack to dry. he turned around.
"Yeah, That tantrum caused you all to split, fight, kill and even destroy each other." Oliver countered and Rogal just crossed his arms.
"Yes. And We handled it. Father Destroyed Horus, scattered the Traitor Legion and we rebuilt. Roboute Guilliman is indeed right. As much good intention I see You and Faline have for this. The Traitor Primarchs, have done damage. It is time for them to acknowledge it."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Somehow, the Afternoon fell upon us, and Guilliman seemed to be reading some books, and he was accompanied by Corvus, only to see me, holding Vulkan's book. He nodded and then Roboute came up to me. I grew slightly hopeful, as they seemed to finally walk up to me. Was he coming around to this new environment.
"I do hope to ask you some questions. Corvus and I have been speaking for a while, and can you enlighten me on some answers that Corvus did not have?" I nodded a little too vigorously, and Corvus rose an eyebrow at my growing excitement. It seemed with all going on with the Manor, I really needed some hope.
"Of course. Anything at all! please." I said, and Guilliman sighed.
"Who was the First Primarch you brought to this time?"
"Lion El Jonson." Guilliman nodded. "I will be honest I tried to go in order of Legion, but that was derailed, due to Konrad scaring the crap out of me, and Magnus bursting his way in to be next." I said truthfully and Roboute looked at Corvus. Corvus was still silent, but he seemed to confirm this to be truth.
"Do you have any sort of abilities and such, psyker energy, or powers of any kind. What about your brother? Does HE have any Psyker abilities or powers?" he asked me. I thought of my encounter with Magnus. When he entered my dreams and caused me to be asleep in Lion's Cabin for a whole week and I remembered how I was capable to use my own thoughts to break from his cycle of torment. Maybe that WAS innate powers, but I was not sure, since Magnus and Malcador confirmed I have no psyker talents whatsoever. Perhaps it was Determination?
"At first I thought I did when I outran Konrad when he attacked me, but that was the Emperor saving me, and I guess I have a bit more control of myself when I am dreaming, but other than that, No, I do not. Oliver as far as I know has no abilities, but he is a Registered Nurse, and was hired to help take care of Angron and give him treatment due to his Nails." The two Primarchs exchanged a glance again and Guilliman continued to think.
"When you read each of our books, pertaining to anything that we went through. the ones father donated. We appear here? Is that right?"
"Yes. but it seems I am not exclusive to that." I rose my hand to count on my fingers. "Leman, Rogal Dorn and Jaghatai Kahn appeared when a customer came to my Cafe, and read the books. Fulgrim read Konrad Curze's. Angron's was stolen and read by the Mayor of Selleton. I think the only three Primarchs who came that did not need me to read their books, were Alpharius, Magnus, and Corvus."
"And They arrive sometime during their time in the Heresy, or After?" He seemed softer spoken as he was getting more and more of his questions answered, seemed more receptive as he was gaining the information he needed. He was logical, and I liked that.
"It seems to be an underlying pattern, yes. one more memorable thing was Lorgar arriving here after he escaped into the eye of Terror and he kept blaming me for not getting his reward for serving the Chaos gods." Roboute seemed more relaxed now, satisfied with my answers, then he took a look at Corvus, and they both nodded together.
"I have told you, brother." Guilliman looked at Corvus then back at me.
"Thank you, Faline. Everything you told me gave me a better understanding of what this was." He said then he relaxed his shoulders. "I do have one more question. If I go to the computer in the office room, will it give me details pertaining to the town Selleton? I would like to have more research involving the town I seem to be staying at."
"Oh yeah, There is a website for Selleton and everything." I waved to the door. Guilliman seemed to light up at that and both he and Corvus headed into the office room. I smiled, seeing that he was into research mode. I turned, feeling a bit more vindicated with myself, only to see Mortarion just leaning against the door. He must have been there the whole time, listening to our conversation. I blinked, seeing his curious look, but it hardened back up again, and he huffed, walking off to the Kitchen, as if he was not even wanting to be noticed. Maybe I can talk to Mortarion as well with what he heard. I got into the kitchen to see Mortarion look in the Refrigerator and I walked up to him. He grabbed a large Bottle of water and then he opened it, sniffing it at first then he took a long drink, the contents swiftly going down his throat. I waited silently as he threw the bottle in the bin and he glared at me.
"I do not buy your answers." He simply said to me. I opened the fridge myself then grabbed my own water bottle.
"Good, because I am not selling them." I retorted sassily. "I know the truth, and If you deny it oh well."
"Sounds like Lorgar's mewlings."
"Ew" I looked visibly disgusted and he looked at me in slight shock I said that about Lorgar. I opened the water bottle then took a nice long sip of it, as I leaned upon the counter.
"Perturabo thinks you arrived here when you were trapped with your Legion slowly dying to Nurgle's Rot." I said to him and he froze slightly, and he lowered his head again, silent. That silence confirmed Perturabo was right. He turned his head to me.
"Perturabo does not know anything about me. And he should stick with not sticking his nose where it doesnt belong. What does he know? He simply left the Siege because Horus gave me command and not him."
"That was not meant to be some dick measuring contest, I was merely stating what I found out and what you were going through!" I said now a little annoyed.
"You two are clearly meant for each other, if you want to stick yourself in business that isn't yours either." I scoffed, a little offended but I shook my head trying to keep on my point.
"Look, I am not here to get you riled up, I just wanted to give you this." I put the bottle down and he sized me up.
"Oliver read your book, and from what we found out from what you last remembered, we did not know you were in that situation. I am sorry you did not get to save your Legion, I am sorry you were cheated of that chance. I really mean it. You can believe me when I say that. Can you?
Mortarion was still cautious, but hearing my words, I can tell he was processing them. A glint in his eye that I have not seen. He did not know what to do with that sentence, I can tell.
"I want to believe you. I really do, Faline. But I have been cheated a lot. overlooked, and it is getting so tiresome." He said, letting a little bit of vulnerability out.
"Maybe I can help you. and you can trust me, right?" I said, hopefully, and held out a hand, and he stared at it. I saw something in his gaze, looking like he wanted to take it. His hand slightly rose, and I saw it about to take my hand, but he stopped short and he hardened his gaze again, then backed away. I lowered my hand, as he moved to the doorway.
"No." Is all he said before leaving the kitchen. I lowered my hand and just sighed. Being so much around Primarchs, I should be used to their overt stubbornness, but here I was, just slightly Frustrated at Mortarion. I couldn't be though in all honesty; He has his reasons to be untrustworthy and that was it. I took my bottle then left the kitchen, now to look for a spot to read Vulkan's book and relax after such a long day. When I went to sit down in the living room again, I heard the Door open, only for Jaghatai Kahn and Magnus walking in with a lot of bags, most of them containing various meats, vegetables, seasonings, oils and a large box with a Rice cooker. I put the book down and gazed curiously at their load of groceries, and the Kahn grinned,
"Since Oliver made breakfast, I decided to treat the Manor with some Chogoris Style hot pot. and it is the right weather for it. Winter cold, be sure to warm all of us up for it." They moved to the kitchen area and Magnus stayed behind grinning, before going to go help Jaghatai with the food.
"You doing okay?" He asked and I nodded my head, holding up the book, showing i was going to read. He smiled. "Oh good. You just read, Kahn and I will just handle the food."
"I look forward to it!" I called out, and I sat upon the chair, settling down, to start my reading. As time passed,Magnus and the Kahn were preparing the ingredients, I was able to hear them cutting the ingredients, slightly laughing at something and some bottles breaking. I paused, wondering if any of them needed any form of help, but Magnus seemed to have blocked the Kitchen doorway with a barrier, causing me to grumble
"We got this" He kept saying before I finally gave up and walked back to the living room and continued my reading. I can smell the broth being made, since I can smell the delicious spices, coming from the kitchen into the air. It was intoxicating. I put a bookmark in Vulkan's book and took it with me to the kitchen, no more barriers, now the Dining room laden with a massive Hot pot Spread. Kahn and Magnus laying out the thinly sliced meats.
"This smells amazing." I said, as Roboute walked in seeing Magnus and the Kahn putting more vegetables and some sauces on the table.
"Glad you like it, now dig in, there is a lot to go around." Kahn said, filling his own plate to cook upon the burners. I got myself a plate and Lorgar came in, taking a seat across from me, and taking a look at the large spread and taking his own plate.
"What a bountiful feast, Brothers." he said as he lowered to his seat.
"It isnt that deep, Lorgar. The Kahn just wants to treat us to some food." I said,
"Yes, Let us enjoy a rare occasion that most of us are here, and to eat this food. Thank you, Jaghatai." Sanguinius said, and the Kahn nodded with gratitude, as more Primarchs came in to the smell of the food. First, Rogal and Guilliman, Then Fulgrim, Oliver, and Ferrus, Perturabo after them, then Curze. Corax, and Lion next and then even Mortarion came in observing the foods then sitting down. Alpharius and Omegon were indeed the last. Soon, every single Primarch found a place and started to eat some hot pot, all prepped by the Kahn. Malcador walked in, seeing the Primarchs in a rare sit down to just enjoy food. I knew he never seen them like this. and I smiled.
"Well, The last time we all gathered to get food It was my brisket." I said, and Leman grinned, sticking three strips of meat in the broth.
"Faline, you are assigned to Brisket duty throughout the year, at least." Leman joked and I laughed.
"Brisket is a summer treat! Something for the Barbecue or smoker! but I will happily make it if you all want it. Family recipe after all." I said proudly. Oliver leaned to the Kahn.
"Family recipe means she took our mom's recipe and replaced it saying she invented it." I scoffed. Oliver and I had this same argument every time. "I mean, your brisket is good, sis."
"Mom used Barbecue sauce instead of mustard as a binder. It totally overpowered the flavors." I argue and Oliver laughed as Jaghatai Kahn smiled.
"I have traveled across the country and found a festival where people put their brisket up for competition, perhaps you should do the same, or Selleton itself can do it, and you can put it to the test." I dropped my jaw at the idea and nodded.
"That is an amazing idea, definitely something to put for the council suggestion box?" I looked directly at Rogal and Fulgrim who froze temporarily at the mention of the Council, Rogal recovered and he took the food he cooked in his mouth and he nodded.
"I can put in some good words, Faline. you know this." Rogal said. Fulgrim grinned.
"And I can be the one who can convince the masses to fund it." He said it like it was an easy feat for him. It was for someone like Fulgrim. Most of the Town loved it when he spoke, walked around the Town and even heard out concerns. He was slowly turning to the face of Selleton, much to Georgia's annoyance. I noticed Roboute was observing the entire encounter, He saw how much I was talking with the Primarchs, how fluid I was to converse with them. He finally set down his chopsticks and he cleared his throat, getting the attention of the table.
"I have a curious question. Most of you have betrayed the Imperium at the call of Horus. What is the difference here?" Leman stopped his eating of his meat, and Curze was slurping the small strips of raw meat as he looked over at Perturabo, Magnus and even Mortarion.
"Faline is not the Emperor." Perturabo said directly. "She is bringing us to this time and letting us to our own devices,"
"It would be very awkward if Faline WERE the Emperor." Oliver said, and Magnus laughed to himself before Perturabo stared at Oliver.
"I think it is more of the Environment and who is bringing us together than anything. The Emperor has forgotten one major design flaw in our makeup." Magnus said, "That we are still men, and We are still sentient, and quite capable of making our choices."
Sanguinius was eating some of the baby corn and he looked over seeing the conversation.
"Choices yes, but it was still given consequences that included the Death of our brothers, our Gene-sons. The Destruction of the Imperium, and the mistrust of a lot of us. I mean, I can still see Ferrus still sour toward Fulgrim." Sanguinius pointed out. I looked at Ferrus and he was making his plate of the food, and closed his eyes.
"When you get your damn head removed by your brother, that does tend to sour a relationship based on Mutual respect, and a love of the craft." Ferrus confirmed, just taking the strips of meat in his mouth and chewing. Fulgrim just sighed.
"You punched me three times, Ferrus." Fulgrim said, their chopsticks now crossing and Ferrus scoffed, grabbing the mushrooms.
"And somehow I still feel like that is not enough." Ferrus stated gruffly, and Lorgar rose his hand.
"The Point is, Guilliman," Lorgar rose up and Guilliman looked right at Lorgar. I noticed the slight scowl in it too, as if he did not want to hear much of Lorgar's speeches . "Most of us Traitor Primarchs feel we were wronged by Father in some way. Surely you can see our grievances." Lorgar stated, and Guilliman just furrowed his brow and then moved his head to the side. Oliver finally looked at Lorgar and then pointed.
"Whoa whoa, Most of you, can we mention the one who was given the MOST grievance" He pointed at Angron and Angron huffed, still eating as Lorgar just sighed.
"Yes. Angron had it worse, but it does not mean the rest of us have our problems as well."
"Are you talking about the Destruction of Monarchia, Lorgar?" Guilliman called out. "You do know you had that coming by repeatedly being told that Father is no god."
"Not to mention from the Reports the Buildings were sub par at best" Perturabo Grumbled, handing me his small corn and I gladly took it, and Lorgar just glared.
"You have no right to criticize my buildings, Perturabo. Might I remind you your own planet was easy to break when you threw your childish tantrum that they rebelled. At least MY planet never revolted. They hung at my every word like it was succor for their weary souls. Yours turned against you as soon as you have your back turned."
"You Lie. Your planet was not so willing to take your word as weight." Perturabo jabbed his Chopsticks at Lorgar. "Even still, your planet was filled with zealous idiots who think some higher power is the reason they are in existence. You grew up to be one of them, and hung to the words of a man who beat you, despite your clear Strength difference. Again, If I were in your stead, Kor Phaeron would have had a broken Spine, instead of a Broken Primarch."
Oliver and I were watching this squabble, casually eating now and moving our heads back and forth like it was a Tennis match. Oliver made the small clap of his fingers.
"Perturabo, continue, because you ate and left no crumbs." Perturabo glanced at my brother, still wearing his scowl and he looked at me, all while I just took some cooked shrimp in my mouth and chewed.
"I am not a messy eater." he said, as Lorgar rolled his eyes.
"Yes, but like me brother, you are a messy man. All of us are. Each of us have our flaws and insecurities. Roboute Guilliman was the one to even say none of you deserved redemption. You want to continue all this, when even one of us has no hope for any of us?"
The Kahn, and Magnus was casually eating as each of us had our turn to get up and speak.
"Come on, Lorgar. We were having a nice Dinner and you had to ruin it with your speeches." I said aloud now. "I already said This new second life is—" Lorgar Cut me off now
"—Is what, Faline? To Fix us like broken toys for your little Disney Dollhouse?" Lorgar iterated, and I stood up now, The rest of the Primarchs immediately in alert as Lorgar stood to face me verbally again. Leman growled, remembering Lorgar shattering my wrist.
"You have your limitations. Who said they were manipulations when it is truth?" He counted each of them with a finger. "The Emperor gave you no abilities to withstand any of us. All of our Auras are suppressed so you can be able to handle even being in our presence. I assure you, if our auras were our full power, you would not be making kissy faces to Perturabo of all Primarchs. We all still have the Memories of what happened to us, our past lives and our times during the Great Crusade and the Siege of Terra, None of us brothers are going to be Forgiving just because a little girl tries to sing us little Disney Songs Telling us to love each other hold hands, and kiss and make up." Lorgar said bitterly and Oliver just scoffed.
"Lorgar" I began. "This is all because you have a problem with me due to not being able to bring Kor Phaeron and Erebus, and you got all booty hurt about it."
"Oh, please dont be crass at the dinner Table, Faline." Lorgar countered. "I am more annoyed that with the Request of Father. He decided to bring all of us here, who I can tell most of them do not want to be here. We were at the cusp of greatness Faline. Rewarded to seeing through the Truth of Father. That we were tools to be used for his own Gain!"
"And did you think the Chaos Gods were so different, Lorgar? To them you are just a pawn in their massive game as well" I yelled and the silence grew now. Every Primarch that was at the table focused on the argument. The only thing that was making noise was the bubbling broth in the center and the steaming hot Meat and seafood cooking.
"The Chaos gods were the very same. In the Emperor's Defense, he never said he was a god. Sure he could have told you in a totally different way instead of knocking down Monarchia and all that he has done to you, but you were so easy to manipulate even the Chaos Gods seen it, and took advantage of you like a vulnerable woman in a bar." I continued, not knowing my own voice was raising. "
You never had an original plan in your body, instead it was whispered to you by people who used you. Kor Phaeron used your Status, Erebus was just an asshole, and you. You let them. Curze is right" Konrad perked up at the sound of his name.
"… You are Pathetic, in fact the most Pathetic of all of the Primarchs, here!" Curze was grinning ear to ear when I actually agreed with him, feeling more vindicated than anything. Lorgar also noticed this and he was seething. Curze winked, but suddenly, Sanguinius and Konrad scooted away from the table, as if they were sensing something. I took a long look at this action but did not realize Lorgar trying to swipe The Vulkan Book. I gasped and grabbed the book and suddenly, Chairs groaned against the floor as Lorgar tried to take my book from me, and I held my side from him.
"Give me the damn Book, Faline!" He shouted, and the dining room erupted in shouts, I desperately tried to pull my book away from Lorgar, but my mind wandered, briefly wondering what he was doing, he can Easily overpower me to keep the book. I tugged hard, and he tugged back, with a harder fervor, only for the sound of the Book ripping apart. Magnus audibly gasped hearing it and before he ended up trying to take the book, it tore apart, paper flying and I fell back on my seat, and Lorgar looked down at the destroyed tome. There was silence, shock, and Curze grinning, as I stared at the destroyed Vulkan book.
"Lorgar… What have you done.." Magnus said visibly mortified that a book was destroyed in front of him. I looked in pure horror at the ripped up Primarch book and Perturabo immediately grabbed it.
"You FOOL!" He yelled, and Lorgar moved away and then sighed. Each of the Primarchs were in stunned silence, watching as the Vulkan Book was Destroyed and Lorgar closed his eyes.
"I am guiltless. She held the book, and did not let up." I seethed, watching his smug ass fixing his shirt and smoothing out his bald head. I got up, hopped over the Table and Charged at him. There was a collective "Ooh" as Perturabo held me back
"LET ME GO IM GONNA FUCKING BEAT THIS PRIESTS ASS!" I yelled in Fury, flailing in the Iron Warriors arms and Angron shouted Standing up and pointing at Lorgar.
"LET HER FIGHT HIM, PERTURABO. LET HER GO!" Angron screamed. Chaos soon Erupted. I was flailing and trying to get out of Perturabo's arms. Perturabo was keeping me back from attacking Lorgar. Lorgar was sitting there, his gaze fixed on me. Angron and Oliver were trying to get Perturabo to let me go. Fulgrim was in the corner, drinking the wine. Leman was yelling that he can definitely join in the fighting, Jaghatai was standing from his seat looking shocked the Hot Pot Dinner was ruined, Magnus was dramatically crying at a book being destroyed, Sanguinius was just stunned into silence. Lion and Rogal Dorn were trying to calm things down, and keeping me from attacking Lorgar, Konrad Curze was Laughing maniacally slamming the table in pure amusement, and I could not see Corvus, or the Alpha twins, and Mortarion was silently moving away and eating his food, as if nothing is going on. Guilliman was pinching the Bridge of his nose and Ferrus was just scowling at the fact everyone was yelling. It was all of the Sudden, Malcador appeared in the middle of the Dining room, and it caused all of us to stop and freeze as Malcador looked at the chaotic scene.
"ENOUGH!" There was silence, The aura crackling around him.I was set down and I grabbed the ruined book, walking up to the Sigillite to show him the damage. He took the two pieces and observed them, frowning as he stared at it and sighing in exasperation.
"What's gonna happen now? The Book is ruined." Malcador handed it back to me, and I looked down at it as he spoke to me calmly.
"Nothing happens to the Primarch if their book is damaged." He told me reassuringly, causing me to sigh in relief. "You have read enough for him to arrive, however. I am shocked the Man of the Word, someone who claims to be a man of books. Destroyed a book due to the pettiness of a woman who has no control of what was done." Lorgar turned to Malcador and fixed his collar, his face calm, as if he has done nothing wrong.
"That book was screaming.." Magnus looked slightly heartbroken sniffling like a child, and the Kahn was rubbing his shoulder. Malcador stared at Magnus' melodrama but Lion stepped up to Malcador.
"This has been an underlying problem the Entire time Lorgar has arrived, Malcador. He has caused problems with her due to not being able to go back or even bring Kor Phaeron and Erebus here." Lion declared. "I was the one who had to bandage Faline's wound when he started his own tantrum when he first arrived.
"Tantrum?" Lorgar looked incredulous and Lion looked straight at the Wordbearer.
"Exactly what this is. a Child like Tantrum. You resort to manipulations and your old ways just to hide the fact that you are still immature and do not like it when people tell you no. It is time to grow up and adapt to your surroundings." Lion shouted.
"What you call a tantrum is actual justified Anger, Lion El Jonson" Mortarion shot up, "We have been taken from what we know and placed in the care of some young woman who knows nothing of the Hells we been through and actually try to befriend her? Do you know how humiliating this is? Can we also mention this woman took us from crucial times. Like when I was taken from my suffering Legion."
"Mortarion, again, I do not pick and choose the Events you last remember before coming here. I am not on a crystal ball and say. "Oh, he's vulnerable here, Lets take him away, muahahaha," I sassed to Mortarion.
"Fulgrim! What was the last thing you remember when you arrived to this time?" Mortarion shot a look and pointed to the Emperor's children Primarch. Fulgrim lowered his head and then glanced at Ferrus Manus, and he let out a heavy sigh, before he answered. "I killed Ferrus Manus. That was the last thing I remember."
"Night Haunter, What about you?!"
"I was dead." Konrad said, and Sanguinius nodded.
"I was The Same. It was when Horus killed me." I heard Malcadors hum of acknowledgement and then he looked at every Single Primarch, and then spoke.
"Then ask yourselves. All of you. Would you return if given the opportunity.." He asked, and there was silence. I kept silent, wondering if there was anyone who did not want to leave. or if there was anyone who would return. I looked up at Perturabo and he was stoic, listening, and suddenly, everyone was dispersing. Everyone left and I looked at Malcador. he was staring at Perturabo, somehow they were heavy in a silent conversation. I can tell. Magnus and Perturabo always had that face if they were telepathically speaking. It was then he huffed and walked off and Oliver stared in confusion. Oliver and I were the only ones now in the dining room, and I took it as them all thinking of Malcador's question
"You feeling better now?" He asked me, and I just held up the ruined Vulkan book,
"Honestly, I do not know. Everything is starting to fall apart, all because Malcador thought putting them all in one Manor is a good idea." I put the Pieces on the table and then shook my head in frustration.
"I mean, to be fair, it was working." Oliver said, reflecting on the messy Dining area, hot pot contents all over the floor, the ripped up Vulkan book on the counter, and I stared at Oliver skeptically.
"Was it? Because I remember wanting to just throw down with Lorgar just now."
"But what were the Primarchs Doing JUST before.. they all Gathered, ate Hot pot, and was enjoying the moment. Until Lorgar ruined it. But Come on, Family Dinners always end up either being harmonic or full of fights and clapbacks. You think this was a failure? This was a NORMAL Family event. and YOU caused it." Oliver said as I thought of it in that perspective. It was true, We had a large family and we always had random fights and some family members who we hated and yelled at. I put my hands upon my hips, now slightly eased from that metaphor.
"Something seems to be working. Just yesterday, they were training, and playing a game YOU set up. come on. You may not see it, but I sure am." Oliver smiled at me. and Despite all that has happened. despite the dinner that was ruined by our fights, my lips curled to a smile as well. Oliver actually is right.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was Midnight, and I could not sleep, I was instead sitting upon the armchair, my legs dangling off the side of the arm, my head resting on the other, and watching Guilliman and Corax playing a fighting Game, Tekken 7. Everything seemed to calm down after the Dinner, the Dining room was cleaned last time I walked in, everyone was calmer. I was still thinking about it, and despite Corvus and Guilliman focused on their video game, they seemed to sense my slight frustration on it.
"You wish to play, Faline? You look like you need to ease your stress." Guilliman asked me and I stared at the controller that Corvus was offering. I sat upright, grabbed Corvus' controller and nodded.
"I don't see why not, but I am just thinking. I do miss my apartment and I miss Selleton." I said, as Guilliman moved to the Character select screen.
"Are all gatherings like that, Faline?"
"Nah, but then again, what Large family DOESN'T have a fight during a large dinner gathering." I said, remembering Oliver's talk after that entire event. Corvus was silent, but he nodded as he looked at the screen.
"Well, Faline. with what we went through, I say, it was eventful." He chose Paul Phoenix, and I chose Nina Williams as we began our virtual Fight. There was silence, save the fighting noises of the game and the clicking of the buttons. Guilliman was better at this than I was, and I was around video games longer than he was. He beat me in the first round and I looked over as he shifted.
"Corvus told me there was an old Farm there. Has anyone occupied it?" He asked. I raised my eyebrow at the
"There was an old family, that knew the Selleton family that used to run the Farm. They grew crops they always sold at the Farmer's Market, their Eggs were top tier, and the Butcher always got giddy when they sold cows and Pigs for meat processing. They sold their cattle and then moved out after Mayor Selleton died. Why? I never took you as a Farmer." I asked him.
"I may be a professional at Administrative work, but honestly, the Farm life has always intrigued me. I actually respect farmers and the honest work they put." When the next round started, I thought I had him, stuck a combo that I loved doing, but Guilliman managed to block at the last minute and catch me, opening with a sweep, then his rage, leaving me open to the entire combo, and winning the round. I nodded, sitting up now to get myself more focused than before.
"Miss Selleton would love to have that Farm open again." I said despite getting frustrated that a Primarch was beating me in Tekken. Guilliman can see my frustration and he leaned back, pleased with himself. I glanced at Corvus who was now watching. I can see no one challenges Guilliman to a Video game, he was next level.
"I am glad to hear that. Perhaps I can make a great deal with her, speak to her about reoperating the Farm." Roboute said calmly, his eyes still focused on the TV, "And if I am needed for other administrative work, I will not mind doing it."
"You think you can help me with budgeting to upgrade my business? After we return to Selleton that is." I asked him spontaneously and Guilliman laughed. It was slightly embarrassing but he gave me a reassuring smile as I passed the controller back to Corvus when the Victory screen came up displaying Paul Phoenix, and Corvus took it, going back to the character screen.
"Of course." he said and I relaxed on the chair. I relaxed now, watching them play and now feeling the familiar heaviness of sleep creep in. It was not before my eyes closed until there was a loud knock at the door. I shot up from my chair, and the two Primarchs looked at each other in confusion before looking at the front area. It was so late at night, so having visitors so late at night made us all cautious. Corvus and Guilliman looked out at the window, and before I got up, Corvus motioned me to stay down. Roboute got up and he walked over to the Front door, and he opened it only to gasping when he felt massive arms wrapped around his shoulders. I jumped up only to see Vulkan crushing Guilliman into a hearty embrace. Roboute flailed slightly, but as soon as he recognized who he was, he placed his own arms around the Primarch. I took a closer look at Vulkan, noticing the Volcanic dark skin, from being upon Nocturne throughout his life. the searing hot red eyes, and the sculpted muscles that flexed when he greeted Guilliman, now reaching for Corvus, causing him to try and escape the massive hug.
"Vulkan! You are here!" Guilliman felt Vulkan finally ease his hug and Vulkan walked in with the rest of his brothers. I was the one on the Chair observing the entire situation. Vulkan glanced at me and I waved, as he continued his talk with his brothers.
"When I was told by Father that you are all here,"
"So Father HAS told you to come here? You heard his voice when you arrived." Roboute asked and Vulkan nodded. "So it seems it was a common thing for all of us when we come here." The Ultramarine looked on quizzically. Finally Vulkan focused on me and he moved to my chair and I looked up at him, straightening up, as he approached me cautiously.
"Are you Faline?" He asked, and I nodded, Corvus and Roboute moving aside. I got up off the chair. I can see the massive size difference between us. even when sitting down. Even with their true sizes scaled down, this was still a tower of a man.
"I am." For some reason Mortarion's introduction came back to me. My anxiety came back. What if he did not like this as much as his Brothers. No. not Vulkan of course. He was more level headed than the others. More stable. He noticed my concern and cocked his head.
"Sorry, I have had bad encounters with some of your brothers when they arrived." Vulkan nodded his head in understanding and he knelt to my level and he opened his arms. I stared slightly looking at his arms and then shrugged, moving in and hugging Vulkan. He was warm, like a campfire. and he did smell of soot and ash. it was actually quite nice in a Winter night. and his hugs was like being blanketed in a warm cozy hearth, I immediately relaxed. This is the best hug I have ever had. I wanted to cry, with how I felt.
"I am sorry about my brothers, I am willing to wager each of them caused you a lot of stress."
"For the most part yes." I said, slightly easing away from the hug and he let me go.
"Do not worry, Miss Faline. If you need them to stop, I can help with that" He winked and I grinned, only for the sound of a throat clearing on the balcony caused us to look up at the source. Konrad Curze. his lip curled up. I turned and Vulkan's soft facade faded instantly, his eyes now focused on the Night Haunter with a ferocity that made me step back. I remembered all I was told by Lorgar and even Curze himself. The Night haunter Tortured Vulkan. killed him repeatedly, and I started to panic and I went to speak To Vulkan, but Vulkan rose to his height again, his face hardening by the second. His hands were now curled to fists.
"Wait Vulkan, before you—" I went to say, but Konrad lifted a hand, silencing me as he leaned on the Balcony, staring Vulkan down.
"No no.." Konrad called out from the Balcony, denying my chance of defending Konrad, "This was predicted. Let it happen."
"But.." I went to start, but Vulkan was already at the foot of the stairs, removing the large coat, and then letting it dangle on the ramp, before continuing up the steps, three steps at a time. Konrad did not remove his gaze from Vulkan, they were heavy in a locked staring contest. Curze was grinning, and Vulkan was calmly moving to the top of the stairs, his face heavy in a glare. Corvus and Guilliman gently pulled me away and I sat down upon the chair, as we all watched this intense moment.
"You wanting your revenge on me does not surprise me, Vulkan. I saw this very moment, and saw everything you will be doing to me. I knew this day would come." When Konrad made his statement, Vulkan stopped, and he brought his fists together, cracking them and readying himself.
"I told you, Konrad, If I saw you, I would kill you. You should have run back into the darkness like the little rat you are."
"You think Death is my fear?" Konrad asked him his grin not leaving his face, despite Vulkan moving closer to him. "I have experienced it once, What's another! You are quite the expert in not fearing death, aren't you, Perpetual?" Konrad teased, "If you want, We can continue more of our experiments. I have more creative ways." He laughed, but Vulkan's face wrenched in a focused anger.
"I experienced it numerous times in your custody, Konrad. This is my retaliation." He stated. I rose my hand, but Corvus shook his head, and I lowered it, just watching as Konrad and Vulkan were now face to face. The Primarch of the Salamanders now towered over
"Shame, You do not have your precious hammer." Konrad grinned, cutting words aimed right at Vulkan. Vulkan just chuckled, and he nodded, as if remembering something, and reminiscing it, he looked once at Konrad and suddenly, Like thunder, Vulkan's Fist Cracked against Konrad's Jaw. Konrad's neck snapped and his body followed, hitting the balcony and then flipping over the railing, falling down to the Living room. Konrad landed on the wooden floor, and I heard the splintering of the wood around him.
"Holy Shit!" I exclaimed, and I noticed Guilliman and Corvus' faces scrunched sucking air through their teeth and watching as Konrad stumbled to get up. I heard some Doors open at the sound of Konrad crashing upon the floor, and I saw Oliver at the doorway, and he saw the situation seeing Vulkan coming down the stairs and Konrad keeping his balance, standing up and recovering at the punch.
"Oh.." Oliver said, watching Vulkan grabbing Konrad's hair by the hand full, twisting then pulling him close, kneeling again and then slamming Konrad three times in the Floor where he landed, and threw him across the way, Konrad spitting blood and teeth.
"I feel like I need to stop this." I said to Corvus and Oliver as he joined us. "I mean, What does that make me, if I stopped Angron from Beating Lorgar, and I do not stop Vulkan from beating Konrad?"
"Girl, it looks like you are doing Vulkan a favor letting him beat the ever loving fuck out of his brother." Oliver said, as we saw Vulkan advance to a stumbling disoriented Curze.
"Oliver is right, in a sense, Faline." Corvus said to me. "Vulkan seemed like he needed this for a long time. It is better if you let justice run its course." I sighed, until I heard a cough from Konrad and he rose a hand before trying to balance himself, his face covered in his blood, some teeth missing and his jaw swollen from the punch.
"Do NOT interfere, little Deer. I told you this would happen, and you must let it.." Konrad said, and then Vulkan took his knee and slammed Konrad's face in again, and I heard a disturbing crunch as Konrad fell to the ground again, blood now seeping from his now broken nose, unconscious now, and Vulkan stood over him, his head leaned back, pointed at the ceiling, and he sighed audibly, as if a thousand pounds has been lifted from his shoulders. I slowly stepped forward, and then I waved, getting his attention. Vulkan looked at me, his fists covered in Konrad's blood.
"You good?" I said to him and Vulkan nodded. I thought he was actually going to kill Konrad, but from how Konrad's chest was still moving, he seemed like he held back. I wanted to ask Vulkan why he did not kill him.
"I feel So much better." Vulkan said softly, towering over his beaten and battered brother, He turned to see the kitchen, then walked away from the Night Haunter. Oliver now moved over to Konrad and sat down next to him observing the damage.
"Okay, Konrad, You got a Nasal Fracture, bruising along the lip," He touched his jaw and gently pressed. "dislocated jaw, we can set that. and let me see." He lowered his hands and Konrad weakly hissed as Oliver was doing his job.
"I am not feeling you up, I am a nurse. You ain't my type, honey."
"It isnt that. It hurts." Konrad wheezed as Oliver felt his chest and he frowned.
" you got some broken ribs too, okay, you will be able to heal that, but it will be swifter if you just go lay down. come on." Oliver went to help him up but Konrad growled getting helped out by Oliver. When Oliver led Konrad out of the hallway and ignored Konrad's complaints, I moved to the kitchen to catch up with Vulkan and I found him in the kitchen, sitting upon the bar stools, a large bottle of water in his hands as he was calming down from the brutal beating he gave Curze. He took a sip from his bottle then looked at me and gently patted the counter for me to join him.
"I am aware on why you did that to Konrad Curze." I said, and Vulkan did not answer. I sighed and then I looked away, leaning on the counter. "He took you, during the Battle of Istvaan, and Subjected you to torture beyond anyone's imagination. Killed you repeatedly, until you snapped." He listened to me, as he took another drink of his water, then leaned back.
"It was long overdue, of course." He said, softly, then he looked right at me, and I straightened up.
"However, you did not kill him, even when you said you would. Why?" It was not out of morbidity, or something like I wanted Konrad dead, I was genuinely curious on why Vulkan did not kill Konrad. He held his bottle with both his hands and his fingers tapped the plastic as he tried to think on his words.
"I wanted to, I really did. However, I did not, It seems Father wanted to give us a second chance on life and to relief us of suffering, which was needed. I need to ask you. Has Konrad Curze done atrocities here?"
I looked down, now thinking. I always saw Konrad throwing things away, and I heard that he was the cause for the Disappearance of the raccoons that always terrorize the alleys of the Town. His fridge full of raw meat that he eats like a snack.
"I mean." I sucked air through my teeth. "He is the reason not many animals come to the town part of Selleton, if you know what I mean." I said, frowning. Vulkan furrowed his brow at that, now causing an awkward silence.
"Well," He said, now clearing his throat, and then let out a sigh but he put the bottle aside. "I did notice that he was different from the Konrad Curze I am so used to. Was it your influence that gave him that?"
I did not answer. I did not think I had any influence on The Night Haunter. I know I spoke to him, helped him ground himself, come to terms with his insanity, but I did not ever think I influenced Konrad Curze, the Primarch of the Night Lords to ever own up to his own actions and take the beating he knew he deserved.
"I don't even know. I don't know what is going on in that Brain of his. Konrad and I had our understanding, and he can be okay to be around sometimes, if he isnt like scaring the crap out of me, but. I did not think i ever influenced him in any form of humility."
"Makes me wonder what else you have done to my wayward brothers, what you have done when giving them a new chance at this new life." Vulkan said, now focused on me.
"Lorgar said to me a few days ago that I was gonna be torturing you if I put you in the same house as Konrad Curze."
"Lorgar does not know that I am capable of handling my own problems, and as you can see, I am perfectly able to handle myself, and deal with my grievance with Konrad. I saw it looked hard for you to see what I have done, and I actually want to thank you for letting me beat him."
"You are thanking me for letting you beat the Shit out of Konrad Curze? I do not think I even had the ability to even stop if you I can!" I said and he laughed softly,
"You are right. You can't" Vulkan took his bottle again, "But You are far from my tormentor. I have experience in that. I think what you could be, from what I am seeing so far with all my brothers." He paused and smiled one more time. "You might just be their humanity."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vulkan put me in a good mood, and that entire encounter might have helped me get invigorated in this. With all of the Primarchs save Horus being here, I can finally relax, I can finally do what I was told to do. My mind still wandered though, to Horus. I was slightly down hearted he will not be a part of this. If I am to be the Humanity of the Primarchs, why can't Horus have this as well? I did feel myself getting exhausted now, and was ready to head to sleep, but I heard some voices in a room with a door cracked open. Curiosity got the best of me and I peeked in, seeing the group of the Traitor Primarchs sitting along the desks of the Library and Lorgar speaking. I opened the door. Fulgrim, Magnus, Mortarion, Lorgar, Angron, Alpharius and Perturabo were all in the library. Lorgar paused his own speech and saw me and then regarded a hand.
"If you are here to eavesdrop, might as well take a seat." He said, and I walked in. Fulgrim scoffed. looking right at Lorgar.
"Lorgar, your animosity over Faline, is starting to grow tiresome and boring. She has her limits, and I never thought I had to agree with the Lion of all people, but You just have to adapt, deal with your surroundings and make the most of this place." He said, and Lorgar blinked at how Fulgrim took my side.
"Surely you do not think that. I am sure there has to be something she can control. I refuse to think she has no sway in what the Emperor wants with us." He looked straight at me and I held out my hands showing there was nothing in them.
"I am serious. Emperor does what he wants. If anything, I am mostly the one chosen to help you all with this project of his." I said, and Mortarion just watched me, then shook his head.
"So it was the Emperor who chose the times in our lives we get whisked here, and you had no control of this?" Mortarion asked me and I nodded. Mortarion just lowered his head, "And here, I thought you were a psyker out to torment all of us." Fulgrim laughed loudly, his legs crossing in his seat as he leaned back
"Please, Mortarion. That little girl trying to torment any of us?" He motioned to every Primarch in the room. "A laughable situation, if you ask me. and Lorgar." he looked pointedly at him with a sneer. "You are horrid for making her feel that way."
"She made you relive the beheading of Ferrus Manus." Lorgar tried to counter, getting up from his seat. "Tore you apart in a way that made you unmade into the Primarch you are. A Being of Perfection that she does not see."
"That is Not how—" I went to defend myself, but Fulgrim held up a single finger to me, silencing me and he put his hands down across each other, and faced Lorgar.
"Faline is going to have to do a lot more than THAT to fully break me down. Sure she threw that event in my face, but she made me face it, instead of running away from the problem itself. Seriously, Lorgar, I thought you were just as intelligent as Magnus himself. Do you not know the difference between Torture and empathy?" Fulgrim pursed his lips at Lorgar who was now looking slightly annoyed.
"Her methods of having all of you deal with your ordeals and inner insecurities is not empathy. It is taking a wrecking ball and tearing you down." Lorgar declared.
"Maybe that is what is needed for you Stubborn Brats," Fulgrim said. Fulgrim met my gaze and Winked, and I just smiled, slightly a little vindicated. Lorgar was slightly annoyed I was being defended, and I got up, now ready to end this once and for all.
"You know I am right here, Lorgar." I said. "I have no ulterior Motives, Lorgar, this may come as a shock to you, but What if and hear me out, maybe I just want to give you guys the balance needed to actually have a life away from the War and strife."
"Oh? and What are your actions on that?" Lorgar asked. "Hiring a Primarch in your Cafe, and treating him like your Underling, trying to be our friend or something like what you and Perturabo have."
"I have never treated Magnus as lesser. We have been friendly, and had our arguments, but He openly requested to be hired in my Cafe." I said. "What Perturabo and I have is normal as well. not to mention Consensual. You have been around Manipulators for so long, you think it is the norm, when it is not!"
"Kor Phaeron has never manipulated me!"
"I did not have to MENTION his name and the FIRST person you say is that fucker! It goes to show I was right!" I doubled down, and there was silence. I sat back down, and then Lorgar spoke up again.
"Fine. But what of the Motives of the Emperor? Why Father wants us to go through this time. why he wants us to befriend this woman, and have a normal Civilian life. I am sure you have your theories, Faline." I nodded, slightly shocked Lorgar was cooperating.
"That question that Malcador asked is running in my mind, and I can't stop thinking about it. but that runs the question. What if The Emperor is indeed giving you guys this emotional stability, giving you all the ability to live like this, then returning you all before the Great Crusade, before the Heresy, and then starting over to prevent it. In my opinion, I do not think it will work. Malcador even said the Heresy will happen no matter how emotionally adjusted any of you are." I shared, and I looked at every Traitor Primarch. all of them silent. Lorgar steepled his fingers then and he regarded a hand to everyone.
"Okay, we can start with that. Would any of you go back to our time, if given the chance and opportunity?" Lorgar asked and the first one to answer, was Angron and he got up shaking his head vigorously.
"I will refuse to go back to The Emperor and That damned Legion." Angron declared. "I will NOT go back to the Nail's bite, go back to that Tyrant that made me watch my brothers and sisters die. My time here, I have my own terms, my own control, given a reason to live again." I nodded, hearing Angron's vehement refusal to go back. That was very much expected. Angron was better off here, and it was obvious.
"If I return to the time Before the Great Crusade," Fulgrim crossed his legs as he began to speak out his own answer. "It would mean having to repeat parts of our history. And if i did, I would be a puppet, unable to control my own body, and to relive parts of my life, I do not wish to relive again. I will have to say no, I would no return." Fulgrim said.
"I am merely a form of Magnus who came here just because I asked Faline to come here. In a way, I am there and here, so you know my answer here." Magnus said, leaning back. Lorgar looked at Alpharius who crossed his arms, and then waved a hand, as if saying to pass him.
"I would return merely to save my legion from the clutches of a chaos god." I nodded. Mortarion was recent, and he still was stubborn to trust me. Lorgar pointed to Perturabo, who was silent the entire time, and he looked at Lorgar at first and hardened his face. Perturabo suddenly spoke and rolled his eyes.
"I would return. If this is just some temporary pet project for Father, it would annoy me that I was taken to some place that was meaningless in the first place." THAT was something I did not expect. I dropped my jaw, and Magnus, Fulgrim, and Lorgar just stared in shock.
"Um. Perturabo." I said to him and he turned to me. "D-did you say you would return?"
"I do not repeat myself, Faline."
"You better fucking start now, Perturabo." He noticed my rising anger at his insult. He turned his whole body to me now, and his own glare fixed on me.
"I said, I would return. Given the opportunity, I would not waste my time here, and waste the rest of my resources here."
"And if you do not get the opportunity." I asked him.
"Then I will be left to my own devices, Faline. It is simple as that."
"Okay." I tried to remain calm, despite hearing his logic. but something about it broke something in me. "but if you were given the chance to leave.. you would leave. Cut all losses, just everything you worked on here."
"I am not going to sugarcoat it for you, Faline. If this was indeed temporary, then fine, let it be temporary, I am gone." My throat started to hurt hearing every word he just said, Fulgrim covered his mouth.
"Perturabo, you better shut up. Now" He warned quietly. but Perturabo glared at Fulgrim as if to stay out of this. I tried to hold it together, but every statement he said was hurting my heart, my throat. I knew only Magnus can hear my hidden distress and Lorgar was now silent at the fact I was hearing this from Perturabo.
"What about us, then?" I said trying not to choke at my words, my eyes were now stinging. Perturabo just looked at me up and down.
"Be realistic, then. Deal with the fact there is a chance you will not have me, at all. this was only a temporary arrangement and you know it. I outlive you. I surpass you."
"Oh, so Lorgar got to your ass then?" I said, recognizing those words and Lorgar actually moved his hands in a surrender. He actually did not feed those words to Perturabo.
"When will I ever listen to that zealous tantrum prone idiot. He has no influence to me. And if he tried, he will meet my boot."
"So, The moment you hear these questions, this particular question, you are just going to say 'cut losses as soon as the moment arrives. I have no need of this and I do not give a shit of what I am to someone."
"What I am to you?" Perturabo stood to his full height. "Do not pretend that this is some transactional affection. Your pity was clearly showing and I am sick of playing along." He pulled out the folded paper that had the sketch of my upgraded library.
"Bo, That is NOT what you are to me, When have I ever treated you that way?" Tears were now streaming down my face, he did not back down, and he put the paper down upon the desk. "That project was for you. I thought you were the perfect one to do it. You remember I was nervous to give it to you because I did not want to burden you, make you think I am using you. I was not using you. I genuinely enjoyed what we had"
"Do not give me that emotional sentimental drivel, Faline. You did use me. With your emotion, affection. What we shared that day, was a gross misjudgement on my part. If I were you, Faline, take that affection and give it to someone else, because you do not need to waste any time with me.
"Perturabo." I stated, wiping the tears from my face, but they were still falling. "You are the Smartest man I have ever met. That is why I feel that was the Stupidest statement you have ever said in all of your time being here."
"If you DID feel something for me, Faline, it is better if you do not. it saves you the pain for later." He pointed at the upgraded library sketch, "And keep this. At least give me the recognition I deserve when it is done." I was at a loss for words, Taking the paper I folded it and then put it in my pocket, trying to wipe my tears again, but they were quickly replaced again. Every single Primarch in the room except for Perturabo was just looking at me. Lorgar unexpectedly had nothing to say. No smug smile, no victorious speech that I was put in my place. Nothing. He was silent.
"You are so wrong about me, Bo. You really are. but fine. You want to push me away as soon as you are given some outcome that might not happen? Fine. We are over." I said, then took a breath, trying to stop the tears but Perturabo glared at me, his arms crossed, as if he felt nothing at me breaking down in front of him. I gave him one last look, and he stood his ground, but on his left eye, I seen it start to water, and before the tear dropped, he turned away. I broke down there, and then walked out of the room, ignoring the chairs groaning as Magnus, Fulgrim and Angron got up.
"Faline!" Fulgrim yelled out, but I did not stop for them, I just continued to run to my room. Shutting the door, I turned to my bed, grabbing my pillows, not bothering to cover up in my blankets and I screamed in the pillow. My heart hurt, my body shook, and I kept my tears running down my face, as I just cried at the end of our relationship. I have endured seizures for a week, felt the Pressure of Primarch auras without any suppression. Felt the Emperor's might, had my own wrist Shattered by a single flex. But out of all of the painful things I felt throughout this entire time I had with the Primarchs. Perturabo breaking things off with me was the worst pain I have ever felt.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Drive back to Selleton was silent. Oliver, Angron and Mortarion was in the car, and I did not even bother to talk to them. Malcador decided to stay in this time, do to more observing, I looked at the rearview mirror, only to see Leman and Lion following us back. When we made it to the Town limits, I pulled up, turned off the car and opened my door. I shut the door, before Angron got to get out and Oliver swiftly moved to intercept me.
"Faline, talk to me, please. I hate silent Faline." Oliver took my arm and I shook my head.
"I just want to sleep. I did not get enough last night." I said, shedding another tear. I shook my arm away and Oliver looked at both Angron and Mortarion getting out, but I just waved without saying goodbye. I was already in the Apartment, and I noticed I noticed on my counter was the Tea Brewer that Malcador promised me, my keychain that had a note that only said one name, Sanguinius. And on my small dining table was a large Basket. A Gift basket with various teas, Coffee grounds and some bags of cookies and wrapped cakes. It all looked so expensive, and honestly, so relaxing to see. There was even some fluffy socks and an eye mask. I flipped over the tag and I read the note, in elegant and purple cursive.
"Magnus teleported this into your house so you can see it when you make it home. Please take care of yourself. I am sorry for our Idiot of a brother."
-Fulgrim and Magnus
I nodded and then walked away from it, going to my room first before I opened the gift basket. I needed sleep first. My eyes closed as soon as my head reached my pillow, and I shed a single tear. I hated that Curze again was right about this trip. It ended in tears and it was mine.

Okay, so. um.. I am SO sorry. Maybe. But Damn this was my longest Chapter yet.
It might take me some time to get the next chapter out, but Honestly, we are close to the end! I might put in like 5 Chapters left. I am not sure just yet, but we are close!
You know damn well Fulgrim Slapped the shit out of Perturabo for what he did.
