A lot of things me and my beloved friend @alecz-obssesionz made of some of our ships of Hollow Knight. Yes T quiero mucho Aleczin
Helphen's shepherd
Stormveil Larder
In one corner of the courtyard was a staircase leading into a basement. I followed it down, and found the castle's main larder. It was close enough to the kitchen, but it was still in an awkward place. Yet another casualty of the castle's expansion and the difficulty of building into such a steep hill.
These have been collecting dust in my drafts For A While, so Iβm finally just gonna release them into the wild.Β π€·πΌββοΈ

Being thinking about Messmer's Flame, which is weird since I don't care about the demigods but probably has to do with reading people write anout him.
To Tagus, when thinking about MΓͺmeΛ Flame, I think a major note is how vivid it's, Flame of Ruin, Prophet's Flame and Black Flame are quite static, moving and waving their tongues in consistent ways, meanwhile Ghostflame and Wraiths are characterized by their animosity, twisting & bending toward their targets.
Secondary note, is how burns, it's a smoke producing flame, indeed, Messmekh hands are chared, soothed, while smokless fire per se it's not a thing, there are mark contrast between a low smoke producing fire and a high proding one
A high smoke producing fire is generally result of a wet fuel making an whiter smoke, other cause can be ventilation as well how centralize it's the heat
A low smoke producing fire is achieve by using an well dry fuel making a dark yet efimeral aerial derbis, with good airflow and well focalized
This at least points that Mesmeg Flame is at least not that good at burning despise one may think or perhaps missused burning things that is no good at.
Thirdly, We know that Giantflame produce ash, the Great Forge when was well keep did warm its mountain and produce a soil enriching ashfall, same goes to Ghostflame that the Deathbirb had to use special fire-poker to cleanse their kilns & it's unspecify if it's holy counter-part, Wraith, byproduce anything, unclear wether Black Flame produce any residue, finally Frenzy Flame produce ashes as we see at it's ending but also leaves embers, flameless yet burning derbis, in its case are eyes, such like the last, Mexmer produce a chared ember akind to a cord.
Fourth, What it burns, The Fell God's Flame and the Phrophetic Flame seem to act like normal fire burning flamable stuff, wood, Ghostflame will not stated straight forward and rather in combulte manner appear when burning corpses and its is closeness to death what invigorate (perhaps Wraith taps into birth, but there isn't info about it), so does Black Flame, The Yellow Flame don't seem to care what it burns as long it burns something trying even to burn stone and spirits with ifferent results. Messmer's Flame is unclear but since the Hefty Furnace Pot is made using its embers and the latter burns both body and soul, one may think that would relate it to Frenzy that also burns both, yet there is a semantic difference that made it closer to Ghostflame, Frenzy burns spirits and end their lives, Putrescence are impure remains, remain that also were burnt with ghostflame, both cleanse yet what they cleanse is a different matter one was used for cremation other to oblate those expunged of grace.
Fifth, Among flames we only see 3 cases where it used to animate, Ghostflame is what animates Deathbirds and TWiD or at least how their aimtion is manifest, The Forge's Flame seem to had being used to animate the Forge's Golem and while not said outloud seem to be the same that powers th Ancient Golems, not cofuse with imps and watchdog that may use fire those seem to be animate through Glintstone or some sorcery, Mehmer Flame is what seems to animate his Furnance Golem due the past point stated.
Due the first, third, fourth and fifth points is no wonder what Wego attempted, Messmer's Embers seem to be alive when left to its own doings, so his flames tendency to curl is vivid but also we can even use those embers to craft Fire Spritestone, Rauh Burrows are empty we're the one putting a sprite inside, Wego did understood that Messmer flame was more than a thing that destroies rather did transmutating mean, when his flame burn something indeed calcinate it yet was is left is a spiritualy loaded means that gains a new spiritual life thus is not strange that Wego attempted to use fire magic to perform a rite of resurrection, Marika can and doesuse her golden magic to resurrect tarnisheds through grace (even if seem to be an automatized process her deed), however Wego failure was that his rite did not resurrect but rather reanimate, if the Fire Spritestone is an example of what happens then is likely that rather that Wego's rite did provide a new spirit to that soulless corpses even if is an efimeral attempt.
These rambling is mostly a try to remember this last statement which I read a time months ago, perhaps a year or more, don't remember if was on reddit youtube or here, just that the idea that Messmer Flame did give birth to fire spirits was charming... made me think what Messmer Flame could had do if had being studied and give other use, if Marika had no fear her kindred
I-I... I
I just realice I was missunderstanding putrescent, I thought that were cremation leftovers, humans remains that were burns in ghostflame yet lingered.
Yet after thinking about both things I realice it doesn't make sense, Ghostflame is the result of burning corpses from which the closeness of death begin to draw powers from death, Putrescent state that all forms of death were burnt in the old days even "tainted" flesh (whatever that meant), yet it says that putrescent did leak from the ship-coffins but that don't means that was burnt at some point, just that used to be burnt and is what was inside the ship-coffins.
I thought that Ghostflame did exist in the Ancient Dinasty due the ship-coffins, but now I realice that is the opposite, putrescent are unburnt remains that had exist sinse the Ancient Dinasty that may had never receive propper burial and thus became part of TWiD, its closeness to death is what makes it ignite into ghostflame when use, it's like a coal deposit igniting due a gas leak catching flame.
Onibi The spirit flame of Japanese myth, this lil fireball is born from the corpses of humans and animals, meant to drain the soul out of any poor sap who dares encounter them. #onibi #spiritflame #yokai #ghostflame https://www.instagram.com/p/BuSL0wlldQu/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1np20q95wadxc
