There was a time her kingdom was alive. Fontaine was alive.

Now it's drowned below oceans of water. What used to be Fontaine simply doesn't exist anymore.

Back when she was a queen, she and I could never be together. She was a monarch of a cursed nation, and I, a mere diplomat from a rival nation.

But what is a queen without her kingdom?

As I saw her weeping in my chambers, I did not understand her loss. Surely, if I make her my new queen, she could have a new kingdom to rule over. I wasn't that loyal to the Tsaritsa and would raise my weapon against her if needed be.

It's not like Furina's life is that different now.

I surrounded her with all kinds of fineries, cakes, operas, magicians, anything. Everything that made her life liveable at Fontaine.

But nothing changed. She cries because her 'people' are now dissolved forever, since they used to be oceanids. It's only natural. She only needs to accept it.

I do admit I had a hand in causing Focalors's plan to get delayed, so much that Fontaine ended up submerging and didn't defeat the heavenly principles in time.

But Furina shouldn't know my involvement. She doesn't need to.

At the 15th day, I get impatient enough to finally threaten her at the door, and if she did not let me in, I would break it. That was not an empty threat. To my relief and satisfaction, Furina opens it, albeit looking terrified.

That's a good reaction. Fear is a brilliant motivator.

I ask her all sorts of questions about her well being, and she replies in one or two words, and sometimes even short sentences. She trembles in my presence in such an adorable way, I would want to devour her straight away on the table.

Oh how I would drag her body over and bend it to my will, and fuck her brains out till she only knows to cry for me.... Maybe even make her scream, scream curses at me, scream my name, scream anything as long as she screams because of me.

But for now, I need to read her a little more. I made mental notes of all her likes and dislikes, but I only get that information from the spies and informants planted around this area of the mansion.

Summary: For all the force behind her command, the grogginess was more than enough to reveal that she’d been asleep until only moments ago. Her blown-wide eyes seemed to be looking straight through Arlecchino, like she was seeing someone else entirely. Or maybe someone from a different time. Arlecchino surprises Furina for breakfast, inadvertently waking her from a nightmare.

They're soooo cute in this! Arlecchino showing up with tasty treats for Furina only to startle her out of a nightmare was so very good, and it was nice to read about them in a relaxed/fluffy setting. It was a fun read!
