It’s rough living in this big city. The busy streets are flooded with anxiety and aggravation. At every turn, a confrontation. At every light, a test of your character. It’s easy to become as dry and as weary as a grayed, shriveled up, dehydrated plant. But in the midst of all of this meaningless mayhem, we have something many others don’t! We have the joy of the Lord as our strength! As many others make fruitless attempts to achieve happiness, we literally possess the key to happiness in life, and let us not forget it!
Psalm 119:1-3, 35, 37-40 “Happy are people of integrity, who follow the law of the Lord. Happy are those who obey his decrees and search for him, with all their hearts. They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in his paths. Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found. Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word. Reassure me of your promise, which is for those who honor you. Help me abandon my shameful ways; your laws are all I want in life. I long to obey your commandments! Renew my life with your goodness.”
The Lord renews our lives with his goodness! Our limp and crinkled leaves are watered daily with the living waters of his word! Without it, we shrivel up with the rest. But with it, we blossom into our full potential in Christ Jesus! So here’s a question for you – have you watered your plants today yet?
