Here’s another geology fact. Medicine Lake is not actually a lake. In the spring the area fills up with melt water and then slowly drains into an underground system over the summer. It’s like a bath tube that’s filled faster than water is draining. You can see the bottom end is already backwatering, while it still looks like a river system upstream. The banks show layering of the sediment. Pretty cool, eh 🤓?! #geonerd (at Jasper, Alberta)

Today’s canyon is Magline Canyon in Jasper National Park. Being over 50m deep, water has been eroding it for eons. The potholes are smooth as a baby’s bum, having been grinded to perfection by sediment. #geonerd #crosscanada (at Jasper, Alberta)
