as an adeptus, xiao didn't allow himself to fear. he had fought mortal battles with powerful enemies before; facing the evil and the cruelest of the demons. he has staining his hands with blood and his soul with their sins and walking a long and lonely journey to feel such human things as fear and insecurity.
but since you came into his life, the yaksha has returned to feeling like his old self. or as close to a human as he's ever been.
at first, it was difficult for the adeptus to recognize and accept the feelings you brought him. however, the more he pushed you away, the more he wanted you around.
and when he least expected, xiao has fallen deeply and hopelessly in love with you and there's nothing he can do but deal with it.

a kick to the rib was all it took to knock your breath out, but your only thought was for the hoarders to avoid your belly.
you could taste the metallic taste of blood in your mouth and your body tired and numb. the urge to give up and pass out was greater than the strength to protect the unborn child in your womb, but you held your ground taking every blow.
purple flashes surrounded the bandits knocking them down with a single blow.
not far from you was your husband. the tense body betrayed his anger but it was his eyes sparkling with an overwhelming fury that made you swallow.
scaramouche didn’t even made effort to annihilate all the hoarders, and not even care about the terrifying sight of dirt and blood staining him.
he carefully picked you up in his arms, gently carrying you all the way back to your house.
"i'm sorry i didn't come sooner." he pressed a kiss on your forehead.
"you're here now, that's enough." you smiled, closing your eyes.
back in the warmth and comfort of your home, he silently placed you in your shared bed and tended to your wounds. words didn't need to be said, you knew how angry he was at the previous event and how sorry he was too.
you took his hand and smiled at him, bringing his palm to your ungrown belly.
"i want you to know that i was able to protect them with my life and i'd do it again. not just for them but for you too. i don't want to fight, scara. i understand your aversion to children, but it's you i want a family with. i understand if you are not ready yet but just be aware i’ll be on your side on this path."
you knew you were making a difficult request to the man, but the nod he gave was enough to let you know. for you, he would try.
the months that followed, scaramouche showed neither positive nor negative signs about the pregnancy. he bought vitamins when you needed them, went out at night to harvest sunsettia when you were craving it, or was there to brush your hair back when you were throwing them up.
"if you knew you'd be making this whole mess months ago, you wouldn't even have agreed to it." he snapped.

as time went by and your belly grew, you could feel the baby moving inside you and that feeling always brought a smile to your face.
you tried to persuade scaramouche to touch your belly but the man refused with dead eyes.
not until one night when the baby was kicking you constantly, not allowing you to get your deserved sleep, that then you felt your husband holding you.

✦ If he ever gets into a relationship with you, he'd have to let you know about the conundrum he's been faced with because he cant not have his vision - he's supposed to be protecting you, after all.
✦ Eventually his stress for the matter will wear off because he grows to feel comfortable around you, and wont be as nervous.
✦ There will be moments where you're shocked during a heavy make-out session but he'd probably apologise into your lips, unbuckle his vision and throw it aside before kissing you even harder to make up for it.

✦ The first time his vision acts out is when he's comforting you from some bandit that had tried to steal from your shop that had just escaped.

✦ Now, he's not usually touchy, but you seemed pretty startled by the incident, and you're also a close friend, so he doesnt think twice about pulling you in for a hug. You were literally holding back tears, how could he not?
✦ After 2 whole seconds of embracing, you're both zapped and Cyno pulls away with his eyes blown wide. He looks to his vision and then to you, and then he starts to realise how adorable you look.

"I apologise, I guess that may have been quiet a shock to you" he says it in a breathless whisper of some sort, like he's still taking in the whole revalation of what just happened and how insanely attracted he is to you right now.
✦ Your lips part in silence as you take in his joke, you can see him swallow down a lump in his throat. To his surprise, you start to giggle, your eyes crinkling in the cutest way as you wipe away at a tear from the corner of your eye. A tear that was once from fright that is now from his joke.
✦ At the very sight, Cyno's vision would falter even more, and it will send him a constant wave of shock, but he bears with it because he cannot, will not, stop staring at how pretty you look when you're smiling like that.
✦ I imagine thats enough for Cyno to go home and reflect on his feelings for you. And once he's understood it properly, he's locked in.
✦ Like he would fully embrace the way his vision malfunctions, and will nonchalantly shrug as he gives you another one liner he's prepared prior,
