Norsery Rhymes from A to Z - Geat, the Spear of the Gods
Happy Thorsday! - Here’s another 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic, Celtic) mythological characters. This week it’s the Geat, Gēat, Gaut, Gutas.
Mythical father or son of Voden / Odin, and the founder of the Geat Germanic people of Northern Sweden.
Also possible related to Gapt, the Ancestor of the Amales.
As Gautr is one of his associated names, and it is also one of the names for Odin, it's possible that the father sone relationship is less about Geat being Odin and fathering the Geat people.
His name means either 'the poured' for fertile rivers, or 'the spear'. Being translated to mean the 'Staff or Spear of the Gods'.
