Gautatyr - Odin, The God of the Gautlanders Norsery Rhymes from A to Z

Well here we are another Thor’s Day and another 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic) mythological characters.  This week it’s Gautatyr, Gautatýr, one of the names attributed to Odin / Wodan in Skaldic poetry.

His name is thought to mean “Gautland god". From 'gaut' "Geats" and 'tyr', "god".

Challenge Day 024 of Year 12 Bojif wasn't sure how it was going to make it to it's family reunion. It wasn't the time or the distance, but the quarantine coming back from his crews latest mission. He didn't want to miss seeing his family after so long, but he also didn't want to give them any exotic diseases.

Challenge Day 023 of Year 12 Sticri wondered how crew with big families managed. It had two small robots to keep maintained, and it found that difficult enough.

Challenge Day 022 of Year 12 Miruk loved to cook. There just weren't that many opportunities on the ship to do so. Everything was pre-prepared. So it knew it would have to wait till it got back to land before it could make anything.

Challenge Day 021 of Year 12 Cobin missed it's friends. it was difficult to stay in contact when so many had moved planets and systems for life and work.

Challenge Day 020 of Year 12 Carilli loved to Skyglide. Find some remote place without any traffic, and just glide around in the air. You couldn't do that in the cities with all the vehicles flying around.

Challenge Day 019 of Year 12 Budduk spent a lot of her time in Zero-G these days. In un-graved stations inside and out fixing the things that needed fixing. She liked the work, and didn't mind the floating. But she did find the adjustment to grav at the end of the day a bit off putting sometimes.

Challenge Day 018 of Year 12 Wamer never went anywhere without a good pair of earshades. Her ears were extra sensitive and there was no way she was going to subject them to the sounds and wind and dust of the outdoors without some protection.

Norsery Rhymes from A to Z Gerhilde, The Gleeful Spear Battling Strategist

Well here we are another Thor’s Day and another 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic) mythological characters.  This week it’s Gerhilde, Wagners name for one of the Valkyries in Das Rheingold, Die Walkure.

Her name translates to “spear battle". From the Old High German 'ger' / 'gēr' for "spear" and 'hiltja' / 'hild' meaning "battle".

She is the daughter of Wotan and Erda, and her sisters are Helmwige, Waltraute, Schwertleite, Rossweisse, Ortlinde, Grimgerde, Siegrune, and Brunhilde.

She excitedly flies over the fields of battle with her sisters gathering the worthy fallen to bring them to Valhalla.

Challenge Day 016 of Year 12 Mora wasn't sure she was ready to live somewhere without the constant rain of her home colony. She couldn't imagine being without the sounds of it on the habitats, and the smells of the plants and soil.

Challenge Day 015 of Year 12 Charas was proud of it's fitness journey. It had been terribly out of shape the year before and was feeling so much better now that he was active.

Piercing Gaze. 2025-2026

From a quick drawing I did on a train, to an overly complicated, and not terribly organized Photoshop finish. Getting back into the swing of digital painting bit by bit. Did I try every blending and layer mode in the bag?.. Yes. Does it work?.. Some of it. But it was fun to try.

Challenge Day 014 of Year 12 Targ only knew what Huam was going to do when he finally got home. He'd left so suddenly to sign up for the guard that barely anyone had heard about it before he had shipped out. Now having seen more of the sector he knew he wasn't the same person who'd run all that time ago. He wondered if he really could go home after this.

Challenge Day 013 of Year 12 NH had a lot of ground to cover in the facility each day. So he listened to recordings of various animal sounds. He found it quite soothing.

Challenge Day 012 of Year 12 Parii was in desperate need of a long vacation. The few days at a time she could take off work never managed to relax her.

Challenge Day 011 of Year 12 T1R loved going to concerts. The people, the energy, the unexpected nature of how the songs would be played, it was all very exciting.
