Finally not being able to eat ANYTHING anymore.
So considering my ibs-a went to full fledge ibs-d, I usually don't eat when I go out. I wait until I get home and then eat food at home. That way I'll have the flare up when I'm not around everyone. Well now I can't even eat a sufficient amount of food. I am getting sick with no matter what I eat, when I eat it. Even water, can set off a flare up. I did a food diary. I follow FODMAP. Started eating small meals instead of waiting to go home and that never helped. I'm overweight, and I lost 10 pounds because of how much I get sick (flare-ups). I am scared to eat anything anymore. Anyone have this problem where their ibs got worse?

1. Introduce yourself. What Illness do you have? How long have you had it(them)? I'm Katie a new follower. I have IBS-D and I've had it for 7 years now, since I was 15.
2. How has this (these) illness affected your life? My IBS is seriously triggered by anxiety or stress and my anxiety/stress is sometimes triggered by my IBS. They do not coexist happily.
3. How did you get your diagnosis? The usual doctor route after ruling out lots of other things first.
4. If you could have told yourself something whenever your symptoms first arose what would it have been? "There is no need to be afraid" the pain was so bad I was genuinely afraid now I just deal with the pain.
5. What is the biggest realization that you’ve had? That this is something I am just going to have to deal with and that it doesn't have to completely control my life. During a flare up that is sometimes hard to believe though.
6. What makes your life easier? Being at home and away from the stress of doing a PHD but that only happens twice a year.
7. What kind of treatments have you tried? Have they worked? I've tried specific diets, yoga, anti anxieties, breathing techniques nothing ever really makes enough of a difference for me to be satisfied with the outcome.
8.Why do you think you have this illness? What do you want to blame it on? My IBS has always seemed to be triggered by stress and I've always aimed very high academically which always comes along with stress.
9. If you could change one thing about the world pertaining to your illness what would it be? I wish it wasn't so God damn urgent.
10. How have your family and friends reacted to your illness? I deal with my illness very quietly, my friends and family know but I don't like to make a big deal out of it.Â
11. What has been the most embarrassing part of your illness? Duck waddling at a ferocious speed to toilets because you just can't hold on any longer.
IBS & Stomach pain & noises
I can't stand when I'm in class at night and I have to stuff myself to the point that im nauseous before class (its 3 hours long) to keep my stomach quiet and even then if I try to think my stomach feels like its empty and tightening I have to make sure I'm eating every hour or drinking something like coffee and I'm not able to focus at all during the lecture im just a sitting duck n have to study at home (as if i have much time). Im tired of spending money or eating bread (I have a lovely gluten intolerance too) just to keep my stomach quiet when its not like it allows me to think anyways! I hate the stomach/intestine noises. I have a new boyfriend n it embarrasses the shit out of me.I hate having to keep constantly eating to keep my GI busy...... I hate IBS =(
officially diagnosed in Feb of 2013.
IBS problem: Waking up
within an hour of waking up your stomach is making noises so loud you don't want to be around anyone, making it impossible to sleep over someone's house without wanting to die of embarrassment.
