The true tickle is Cosus/Cossue/Coso, like, his nature. Is it even a he?
The true tickle is that fact that it was supposed to be a war god because in two aras appears with Mars (supposendly) but etymologically speaking apprently they would be closer to a “gathering” a “confluence” maybe even with watery elements? This could be an “assembly” or a “court” and therefore get its war relations but... that’s just theories! Y’know?
It tickles me that its a very popular divinity in the north west, that Strabo said that these people were often at war with each other but that they had no gods and the revered nature. So like we can assume the nature of Cosus changed over time... but that’s all it is! It’s an assumption! We don’t know! It tickles me! I want to know them but its grasping straws I don’t even have a frame or a start point. Like with Navia at least we can safely assume the water relationship given the evidence (etymology and the relationship with Mariña and with thermal springs), so that’s something. But Cosus??? What even is the start point? Or the middle point?
What’s their business? What’s their deal?? What’s their story??? I want to know them! I want to feel them and embrace their stories but there is just not enough to go on!!!
