okay so the shoni timeline messes me up EVERY TIME I THINK ABOUT IT.
so shelby acts all homophobic and also saves toni life on day twelve. the two of them don’t even talk about it for another three days, and when they do it results in them kissing - and shelby freaking out about it and running away.
then shelby sorta powers off and ‘ghosts’ toni for a day, and when they talk again she’s like “i know exactly who i am and can’t wait to get back to her” and toni looks like shocked and confused but i don’t think she bought it...none of us did.
then on day twenty two is when they kiss under the lychee tree. that’s six whole days. almost a week goes by and toni thinks shelby just messed up and she “knows who she is” when really toni knows she’s just suppressing her feelings because of all her internalized homophobia.
that’s why toni looks at shelby for so long under the lychee tree - with such longing too. she’s just waiting for a sign from shelby - something, anything - that tells toni what’s going on in her head.
