Basics

Building type: Shattered celestial architecture. Cathedrals half-collapsed. Houses stitched together from dream and memory. clocktowers without hands.

Levels: The town exists in overlapping strata, like several versions of itself layered. Visitors sometimes walk into “older” or “future” versions of the same building.

City / Town: Nexus-town. population absent except for echoes and wraiths.

Suburb / District: Divided into “Rings” rather than districts. Inner Ring (cathedral core), Middle Ring (residences/streets), Outer Ring (collapsed ruins that bleed into void). The Pathway of Reality (stairs to the platform hosting the pathways to every dimension) is located in the Cathedral Core. The Outer Ring leads to the Edge of Creation (FF VII).

Street & Number: Impossible. Streets spiral, loop, and sometimes lead back to where you started even if you swear you walked straight.

Neighbourhood

Description: The neighbourhoods are broken reflections of what once was. Some streets feel almost normal—cobbled lanes, lanterns glowing with soft silver light—until you see the sky fracture or hear the faint march of ghostly armies. Other areas are frozen mid-collapse, rubble floating in slow motion, buildings suspended in midair as though time halted. Living here would feel like drifting in a dream, safe for a moment then overcome with dread.

Neighbours: The neighbours are the fragments of angels, watchers, and mortals who once crossed through. They are not truly alive. They are more like echoes replaying their final moments. They whisper prophecies without realizing it, reenact battles, or offer phantom hospitality at broken inns. Some can guide, others mislead, but none fully understand they are dead.

Setting Detail

Overall feeling: Haunted, sacred, inevitable. A place heavy with prophecy. Oppressive silence that feels like standing in the eye of a storm.

Sights: Shattered sky like broken stained glass. Streets that fold into infinity. Celestial statues cracked and bleeding starlight. Ghostly banners of the Celestial and Lucifer's Army still fluttering though no wind blows. A great central cathedral collapsed but still glowing faintly from within.

Sounds: Echoes of war drums, distant angelic choirs distorted like broken records, footsteps that don’t belong to you. Sometimes Aurora, Bianca, Lucien, and Sephiroth will hear whispers in their own voices.

Smells: Ozone, burnt incense, and the metallic tang of blood that lingers though the battle ended eons ago. Occasionally, scents of flowers, smoke, or sea air from other realms bleed in.

Miscellaneous notes:

Time does not pass here. Stars shift positions at random, seasons flicker in and out. Snow falls for minutes, then heat beats down the next). The Nexus resists outsiders. Only those with a fate tied to its unraveling can remain long without dissolving.
