The Far Out Beat Tape brings together some of the finest forays into beat-driven electronic music from the label’s extensive back catalogue. From classics to rarities, of varying tempos and styles, this mixtape eliminates binary genre classification and carves out a place for Brazil on the map of the global beat diaspora.
When celebrated digger, DJ and Brazilian music connoisseur Joe Davis set up Far Out Recordings in 1994, it was an incredibly exciting time for dance music in the UK. House, techno and rave were splintering off into varying directions, jungle was blowing up and the future was wide open. While Far Out may be more widely known for its modern day iterations of MPB, jazz and samba, it has always kept itself firmly on the cutting edge of electronic music as this release amply demonstrates.
This compilation serves as both a handy sampler and an overview of a myriad of sounds and styles that Far Out has contributed to the worlds of broken beat, hip-hop and beyond.

Adam Ahuja, Gavi Grodsky and Danny Wolf presents: Stars In A Box
Cool jazz music with the electronic and funky vibe
Three long-time professional NYC performing-musicians team up for this jazzy, cinematic, sci-fi-edged groove tank, "Stars In A Box."
With a plethora of instrumental colors, wild lo-fi leads, and stank beats and riffs, we've got track that may feel something akin to a Tarantino-esque journey testing the limits of dimensional hyperspace.
The tune features Adam Ahuja (Robert Randolph, Meatloaf) on keyboards/electric bass/vocals, Gavi Grodsky (The Flowdown, The Simpsons' Hank Azaria) on electric guitars/vocals, and Danny Wolf (Rhye, Great Good Fine Ok, Gavin Turek, John K) on live drums and engineering. The track it's out now, on the Infinity Gritty label.

Adam Ahuja:
NYC-based Adam Ahuja is a live-looping artist, keyboardist, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist. He has drawn international recognition touring independently as an artist and as a past member of acts such as Robert Randolph & Family Band and the Ana Popovic Band.
Ahuja’s keen sense of the contemporary music scene prompted him to establish Infinity Gritty, a music label, consultancy, and artist development agency. Infinity Gritty has partnered with Grammy-winning label Ropeadope Records on distribution and promotion for multiple projects. Ropeadope is home to albums by jazz luminaries such as Christian Scott, Nate Smith, Snarky Puppy, and others.
In 2017, Ahuja released his critically-acclaimed album “Ubiquity” via the Infinity Gritty / Ropeadope joint venture, on which he composed and performed all music, including keyboards, guitar, bass, drums, percussion, and voice, and wrote the lyrics.
Adam Ahuja’s music incorporates influence from jazz, rock, funk, soul, hip-hop, electronic, world, and little bit of Vanilla Ice dance partying at age six. Ahuja melds a love for groove and an affinity with harmony, while flavoring his compositions with metaphysically-bent singing and rhymes.
When Ahuja plays live, he offers what he calls a “neolive” experience: one in which he draws upon a range of electronic instruments (keyboards & key-bass, singing & rhyming, beatboxing & drums pads) to record and loop the performance live, without the use of pre-recorded sampled parts. Ahuja’s shows often involve interactive participation as he loops and records audience members, bringing them on to the stage and giving them a personal connection to the performance.
Ahuja’s adept performances, charisma, and novel approach to the “one man band” paradigm have made him a widely viewed social media presence with individual videos generating well over 50,000 views.
Along his career path, Adam Ahuja’s work has led to collaborative highlights including writing and recording in-studio guitar parts for rock-legend Meatloaf, jamming on stage with musicians such as Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads, Questlove of The Roots, and Kenny Wayne Shepard, opening for legendary jazz pianist Chick Corea, and landing endorsement deals with Nord Keyboards and Motion Sound Amps.
Adam Ahuja has headlined, played, or appeared at a wide range of US and international festivals and venues. Recent highlights include Musikfest (PA, USA); Blue Note Jazz Festival (NY, USA), Morristown Blues and Jazz Festival (NJ, USA), Victoria Jazz Festival (BC, Canada), Costal Jazz Festival (BC, Canada), Gypsy Jazz-Fest (New Caledonia), Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise (Caribbean), Great Mississippi Balloon Race (MS, USA), Unifier Festival (CT, USA), Freemind Fest (PA, USA) DiscJam Festival (NY, USA), Folk Fest (PA, USA), Second Street Festival (PA, USA), and Sofar Sounds (SP, Brazil).
Adam also holds a Master’s in Public Policy (MBA) from University of Konstanz (Germany) and BSBA in Management and Pre-Med from Bucknell University.
