I feel like having a detailed picture of your future is very Si, rather than Ni? I donât really understand why Ni is associated with having a clear vision of their future, which is usually a grand vision. Like Ni is âfuture-orientedâ and Si is âpast-orientedâ, but I wanna know why? Â
Hereâs my attempt at answering this. Si processes by reflecting on past events to come up with a plan for how to react in the present. I guess thatâs where the Si stereotype comes from? But they arenât necessarily stuck in the past; they use the past! And I think that they do lots of planning for the future -- details and all -- by consciously drawing from past experiences. I think what people donât realize is... Ni also draws from the past! Ni is not magic! The process is just semi-conscious (as I understand it). Ni processes by semi-consciously adding up known information to conclude how to react in the present. Of course, with both of these âin the presentâ descriptions, Iâm talking about everyday decisions that everyone has to make quickly. So my conclusion about why Ni is widely-accepted as âfuture-orientedâ, even though all it is is a way of perceiving information, is........ people just think that Ni is magic and mystical? and pose it against Si which is âpast-orientedâ? yeah I canât even answer it. maybe Iâm just having a dumb moment.Â

There's a new VR psychology treatment that lets you talk to yourself by switching roles (being both the patient and the psychologist) that can lead to detachment from habitual ways of thinking about personal problems. It allows you to see yourself as you see others.

The International Space Station will soon be retired, but a replacement likely wonât come from NASA - A few, like Sierra Space in Colorado and Houston-based Axiom Space, are well on their way to constructing their own commercial space stations.
