Considering we are already talking about witchy holidays I thought I might add an austrian one. It's called Funkenfeuer (or Funken in short). It's celebrated on the first christian fasting Sunday in spring.
We built a tower out of wood, stick a witch filled with gunpowder on the top and burn it down. If the witch explodes before the tower collapses it's considered good luck, otherwise the witch has to be burried. Strangely, adding a witch to the tower didn't start during the witch burnings in Europe but in the 19th century
Point is to chase away the Winter. It's a very big celebration here

Thank you for letting me know! I am bothered by the fact that this is lighting a fire and putting a witch on top of it, still too reminiscent of witch burnings, even if we're cheering for the witch to explode (?) for good luck (?)?
Can't we put a male on the fire and watch him explode? while witches get to dance around the fire and laugh and potentially kiss if they're into that?
We have to renovate these holidays, otherwise I'm glad to know there's more witch holidays! And in the spring too, we have nothing spooky going on in here in spring, I hope we can make some stuff up.
