My Ni is my inner guide of foresight. It has studied so many patterns that it can settle on a likely outcome incredibly quickly. At this point, using Ti, I could break down why it's the most likely outcome and would matter of factly do so if you asked. When it comes to my visions of the future, I want nothing more than to be as accurate as possible to be sure I'm not wasting my time or hurting someone. Yet, sometimes those visions forget to check against reality. They are generated by grabbing a slice of life and playing it out if things remained the same. But things never remain the same. Reality comes knocking again while I'm off imagining in my head, reminding me to come out and play. The vision, though possibly still likely, is refined further with each new version of reality it gets fed. Ni can only know the future if it checks in with the immediate to update and refine the path.

Example: Learning to balance on one skate. Ti began over-analyzing where optimal weight distribution would be on a thing with for wheels that could fall out from under me with just the slightest wrong movement. Eventually Se chimed in with “it’s just like balancing in yoga, dummy. Head up, bend the knee, focus ahead, core strong. Stop thinking.” and just did it. Now, Ni knows the pattern so well it can do it while rolling in the short span of only a few weeks.

Cognitive Functions: An Extremely Lazy Hack To Find Your Stack

Fifth in the function stack! Y’know there’s dominant, auxiliary, tertiary, and inferior, but after that there are the shadow functions. There are names, but I really just refer to them by the numbers.

So I’ve been looking at cognitive typing for a couple years now and I am still having serious issues in stacking my functions. I can identify them no problem at this point. Fi Si Ne Te. But stacking them? So I’ve gone to my normal site for personality analysis (aka TDF) and they have added great quality insight as always. But hasn’t really helped on my stacking. I’ve tried the personality cafe forums, but last time I did one of their questionnaires I got accused of trying to lead the answers to a different type because some answers were conflicting too much or some such which just left me with “no this is what it is actually like in my head you people!” Anyways I’m just sifting through this personality typing thing again. At least for a few months before I get too frustrated trying to figure it out. At a logical level I get I should not be confusing ISTJ with INFP, but I just can’t tell them apart in me.
