What if Touka is a FAIRY?!

Okay, you know how Fairy Tail was named based on the question Mavis asked, “Do fairies have tails?”

Well, in the latest chapter, it is revealed that Touka has a TAIL. She also said that she’s a water type, which could mean that she’s a water type fairy as well. 🤷🏻‍♀️ just a thought...

So, as I posted recently (seconds before I started this, in fact), chapter 471 was the first one that actually interested me in a long while. It’s not that I don’t like the others, but this one is the first one I’ve actually felt something while reading in a long time. I just knew too much and had called too many things from previous chapters to find any true enjoyment.

Now, chapter 471 brought along some interesting developments.

For me, I think it may have been the characters involved that made this chapter for me. 

First of all, we saw Natsu and Lucy again, which I’ve been wanting since the end of 469. Granted, that means there was really only one chapter between, but for the situation at hand it seemed like a very long break. I understand that it was for suspense, but there’s been so many instances like that in this arc that it’s just dragging on and on.

We saw Fried, which was great. Even though he was injured, we saw the way he was interacting with Lucy, and it was a breath of fresh air. Their interaction is just what I have wanted from Fairy Tail -- a brief, comforting interaction to show that the bond of friendship and family exists, even with those who once opposed the guild. This happened later, as well.

And a cute, albeit short, moment for Juvia to be herself, suggesting to sleep with Gray in a sleeping bag for two. Gray, his usual self, refuses to sleep in the oven. And he’s the first to find out the secret about Laxus. He remarks on it so casually that it gives me just a little hope for when he finds out about END and Natsu...but you can also tell that he’s worried.

And Laxus. The fact that he is still suffering from an attack that happened A YEAR AGO is a death flag---a death flag that kills me because, throughout all of Fairy Tail, I feel like Laxus is one of the most well-developed characters. The subtle indication that he may die in the final battles strikes right to the core.

The Sky Sisters are back. This is, for me, another important part of the chapter. Chelia, or however you choose to spell it, was once upset because SHE couldn’t protect Wendy in the reunion arc, but here comes Wendy to save her from Dimaria. I think a big portion of the fight with Dimaria SHOULD be Wendy and Chelia fighting, although I feel like it won’t be the case. And, since Wendy can’t heal herself, Chelia may sacrifice her own well-being to make sure that Wendy can continue fighting. 

Another death flag rose for Gajevy. Levy and Gajeel were alone and talking things out. The petite woman was so concerned about her power, and how she feels that she is lacking compared to others. And then we have the cute, couple-y moment where Gajeel tells her that he will arrest her and gives her a little confidence boost and she smiles at him. If you needed more of a sign that they’re already a thing, here it is, folks. Here it is. In this situation, it feels like one of them will die to save the other. They’re just that close. And while most people are probably in the camp that thinks Gajeel will die to protect Levy--which he would in a heartbeat--I think I’m in the camp that thinks it’s slightly more likely for Levy to sacrifice herself for Gajeel. Whether it be during a fight with Acnologia, and she takes the blow so that the dragonslayers have a chance, or during a fight with someone else, I feel like Levy would want to do something for him after all he’s done for her.

There was so much in this chapter that drew me back in for the first time since the Avatar period, if I’m perfectly honest, and I am honestly more excited about the Laxus and Gajevy in this chapter than anything else.

The death flags are popping up everywhere, and it’s hard to see exactly which arrows are going to hit their mark.

My thoughts on this?

While it is a good comparison, because there are references that pay homage to Norse Mythology scattered throughout Fairy Tail, I don’t believe Natsu is capable of killing Happy, even if he is possessed by the demon part of himself.

As I’ve said before, Natsu values family above everything. This means that Happy, who is like a son and a best friend to Natsu all in one, is potentially the best one to break him out of his thoughts. 

Is it possible that E.N.D. will attack Happy? Of course. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it happened. I kind of expect it to happen, since Happy is the only one with Natsu in his charge towards Zeref. But I think that Natsu would be snapped out of it by someone else before he could strike the fatal blow. In fact, I think any number of people would physically get between them and take the blow in Happy’s stead if it came to that.

In my opinion, the Fairy Tail member most likely to end up dead from an encounter with E.N.D. is Gray…and if Gray falls, this time he won’t be getting back up.

My thoughts on your post ( x ) are as follows!

It’s an interesting connecting between Brain and Zero and Natsu and E.N.D., but I think Natsu’s relationship with E.N.D. is different. 

As far as we know, all the members of Tartaros have been defeated, and since it doesn’t seem like E.N.D. has taken over Natsu, I don’t quite think that the defeat of Tartaros is the trigger for Natsu’s transformation into his demon form, as the defeat of the Oracion Seis was for Zero and Brain. The reason for Natsu’s separation of powers is also different.

Natsu was dead.

The only way for Natsu to come back to life was for Zeref to turn him into a demon and, better yet, the strongest demon of all of his creations. It is my belief that the dragons, and potentially Layla Heartfilia, had something to do with sealing the demon side of Natsu, so that he could live life as a human, learn to live and to love like he would have, had he not passed at a young age. I also think this was part of Zeref’s plan for him.

Zeref gave Natsu the power to kill the strongest dark wizard that ever lived–a wizard who is immortal. The strength it must have taken to keep this dark power under control for so many years is phenomenal, and I believe that it is part of the reason why Igneel was inside of him, and why all the dragonslayers and by extension their dragons seemed to flock to him, like moths to the flame (no pun actually intended but seriously…flame? Igneel? Fire? Yeah I’ll stop now). I think, rather than the defeat of all the other demons of Tartaros, the biggest catalyst for E.N.D. coming forth in Natsu is the removal of Igneel from inside him.

The only thing still protecting him are his ignorance–the fact that, as far as we know, Natsu doesn’t have a clue about what he is or what’s inside him–and also the scarf that Igneel gave him (which, as has been suggested, could be made of the scales of Grandine and Weisslogia, as the sky and light dragons).

When these two barriers are removed? That’s when we’ll see the signs of Etherious Natsu Dragneel’s awakening.

In some ways, I think it will be similar to Zero and Brain, because I do believe that, at least for a short period of time, Natsu will lose control of his body. But, due to his love and devotion to Fairy Tail, and also in some way probably to interference by those closest to him (can anyone say Lucy? Gray? Erza? Happy?), I think he’ll be able to pull himself out of the darkness.

But…we’ll just have to wait and see, yes?

It’s been a while, so I thought it was about time I gave a few thoughts on current events in the Fairy Tail manga.

Let’s start with Brandish and Lucy.

Brandish of Zeref’s Spriggan 12, his strongest mages, knew (knows?) Lucy’s mother, Layla. Not only that, she has been “captured” by Fairy Tail. 

This brings on a whole slew of questions, and plays with the mystery that has been surrounding Lucy and her mother this entire time. It finally proves that Layla was more than just a mage and a wife and a mother, because she had an interaction with such an important member of Zeref’s army. And, considering that Brandish doesn’t look any older than Lucy, I can’t imagine her being older than 25 or so, which is the age that Lucy should be.

This means that the likelihood that Layla is somehow still alive, and encountered Brandish within the last 10 or so years, is definitely a possibility. How else would Layla have left such a strong impression on Brandish? Such a strong impression that Brandish was drawn towards Lucy because of that slight recognition of her mother?

In addition, I believe that Brandish was captured as part of Zeref’s plan. Even Mavis might not have foreseen that, despite being the Fairy Tactician.

Or maybe she does know, and she’s keeping Lucy to guard Brandish for that reason, as well as Cana, who may or may not still possess the ability to use Fairy Glitter.

There are so many more things I’d like to say on this, but I’m in an art class and I’m currently behind in my project, so that’s all I’ll say on this subject for now.

Zeref and Natsu, and what it might mean for Fairy Tail.

What can I say here that someone else hasn’t already said?

Obviously, there will be some sort of interaction with these two sooner or later. Since the big reveal, we’ve known that there would be a showdown, brother against brother, demon against creator...but now it’s looming over us so much more quickly than I had expected.

Natsu is charging headlong at Zeref and his army, alone.

Natsu could very well be needed elsewhere; he was supposed to go with Gray’s group, but he was MIA and the already injured Erza stepped in to take his place.

This could lead to many things with the group he was supposed to be with, as well as with Zeref. A few of my thoughts include these possibilities:

Zeref will release the power of E.N.D.

If this happens, it could overcome Natsu and he could end up hurting his friends and guild members. Yes, E.N.D.’s purpose is to destroy Zeref--but that doesn’t mean that the power won’t consume him, overrun his own consciousness, and lead him to attack Fairy Tail.

Zeref will reveal that he and Natsu are siblings, Natsu’s death, and subsequent revival as E.N.D.

This could demoralize Natsu. He might lose sense of where he is and what he’s fighting for, because he values family above all else, and even though this person is harming his “family”, they are actually connected by blood. His last blood relative is his greatest enemy...and wants to be killed by Natsu. The thought could destroy him, and he could lose to the side of him that makes up E.N.D., possibly resulting in the above scenario.

The team with Gray and Erza and Juvia and the others could face enemies that they can’t defeat without grave injury or even death.

This could have been prevented if the wounded Erza had not stepped in for the MIA Natsu. If he hadn’t charged directly at Zeref, he could have followed the plan and saved someone’s life.

One of this team is at high risk for death regardless because of the uncertain future of Gruvia, the presence of Gray’s oldest surviving “family”, Lyon, Erza’s injuries, and Laxus’s desire for revenge against the one that hurt his Raijinshuu. The only possible saving grace here is that Wendy is in this group, and they are meeting up with the Sky Goddess Chelia; healing is with them. They have so many heals...but in a fight of this magnitude, a healer could easily be stretched too thin, and if either one of them are singled out and have to fight alone, it could spell disaster for those that they are healing. If they team up together, because Wendy cannot heal herself, Chelia may sacrifice herself in order to save Wendy’s life.

In addition to these reasons, we must also realize the look of pain on Lucy’s face when they realized that Natsu was missing. It was pain mingled with concern, but the fact of the matter is that Lucy doesn’t seem surprised that he left on his own.

Almost like she knows what he’s doing and where he’s going.

And maybe a little like she suspects what he’ll find when he gets there.
