Letting out a soft snort, Y/N moves to directly face him, a soft smile growing on her warm face. Her hands let go of Erestor's to grip his arms, slowly moving up towards his chest. Earning herself a sharp look before moving back down to his hands."Would you care for a dance then?" She asks hopefully, watching his face for an inkling of conformation.

His face changes from very slight disgust to a small frown. "No." He says bluntly, making Y/N slightly shrink in place. "I wouldn't want to make such a fool of myself by dancing like that." Erestor's gaze falls on the crowd before them, watching the couples swing each other around the floor.

The familiar burn of tears builds quickly in Y/N, her hands tremble gently from her lover's harsh words. Swallowing thickly as Erestor glances back at her, confusion written all over his face. Heat builds in her as tears start to spill down her face, grabbing her thick skirts, Y/N quickly turns away from Erestor.

Ignoring her name being called, she runs straight through the dancers she longed to join, Y/N doesn't stop to apologize to anyone elf she bumps into, even to her twin brothers. Bursting through the hall's large doors, Y/N wipes her tears angrily as she runs, the cool night air makes her shiver but not stop.

The sound of distant waterfalls slowly calm her, but not by much. Letting go of her dress, Y/N slows her upset pace. A shiver finally runs through her as she lets her hands run over any nearby plants. The distant sound of footsteps makes Y/N pause, but not for long.

Chiding herself for running away, Y/N lets out a shaky sigh as her hands run over her bare arms, quickly regretting leaving the warm dance hall. Ignoring the sound of footsteps hastily growing louder, Y/N keeps moving, letting out a shriek as she feels a hand clasps her shoulder.

Brushing the hand away, Y/N continues down the path, feeling more anger bubble in her. "Y/N," a familiar voice calls, another hand grabs at her to stop. "Please, please stop."

The softness in his voice makes Y/N come to a halt, letting his hands gently turn her around Y/N puts on an upset look before meeting his gaze. "I'm sorry," Erestor starts, taking both her hands in his. "I did not intend to be so harsh, I just...I'm not good at words, you know that."

"Indeed I do," Y/N replies, enjoying the warmth of his hands. "But that is still no excuse for that."

"I just thought you were getting better around people Erestor," she murmurs. "A-and I thought a dance would have been a nice treat as we haven't done it before."

"I know," Erestor mumbles. "I just–no, umm, would you–" clearing his throat, he stands tall before gently smiling. "Lady Y/N, would you care for a dance?"

While she may still be upset with him, Y/N can't help but smile gently at him. "I would love to Meleth," slipping her hands from Erestor's, she moves to drape them over his shoulders, sucking in a breath when his hands gently hold her waist.

"Just know," Y/N starts as they begin to slowly sway on the walkway. "We will talk more about this later."

"That may have to wait until your brothers are done with me," Erestor chuckles mainly to himself before holding her tightly against him to spin around, enjoying the delighted look on her face.

"I'm not surprised," Y/N hums, watching him warmly. "Being the youngest has its perks you know, that and being Father's favorite too."

Erestor softly smiles as silence falls on them, twirling her again, Y/N lets out a small laugh as he holds her in the air. Being set back down, Y/N sighs as she leans closer to her lover, enjoying the tightness of his grip. Resting her head on his shoulder, Y/N gently breathes in his soft scent, thoroughly relishing in the warmth it brings her.

She knows moments of intimacy such as this are rare for Erestor, especially when it's somewhat out in the open. Y/N treasures each second, the sound of his beating heart, the feel of his grip tightening every time she moves against him, the moonlight reflecting off of his ornate circlet.....Y/N sighs in bliss.

Would she have preferred this dance in the warm company of others with music and laughter around them? Probably. But Y/N just can't help but giggle with every twirl. The quiet song of crickets and the distant rushing water begs them to never stop their dance.

"Thank you," Y/N sighs, her hands rubbing small circles on Erestor's neck, a small grin creeping onto her face as she feels him shiver. "Thank you for this."

"You are welcome nin meld," Erestor replies with a whisper. Y/N moves her head from his shoulder, gazing deeply into his silver eyes. "I am sorry that I could not give this earlier."

Moving her hands from around his neck, Y/N quietly shushes him as she cups his jaw, which promptly stops their slow dance. "All is forgiven," she says, glancing from his eyes to his lips. "So stop fretting about it."

"I just don't want you to thin–" Y/N cuts him off with a small kiss.

"You should know what I think," she says, rubbing her hands gently against his chest. "Which is that you are an incredible ellon and I am extremely lucky to have. While yes I will admit, you do have your days of being sharp or rarely even, cold, but it's times like this where you show that you are more soft and loving."

Erestor turns from her gaze to hide his blush. By the Valar, he is gorgeous, Y/N smiles to herself. Leaning up on her tiptoes, Y/N leaves another small kiss on his jaw, which immediately brings back his attention.

Moving her hands from Erestor's jaw, she slowly buries them in his braided hair. "Y/N," he gasps from her touch. "As much as I love dancing with you out here, maybe we should head back? I wouldn't want anyone to find us like this."

"Do you not like me touching you like this?" Y/N says with a grin, kissing his jaw once more but this time moving down his neck. "Not like me kissing you like this?"

"You, you know I do," his voice grew tighter. "But can we please move?"

"I suppose we can," she says with an assuring smile. "Would not want to ruin your glorious reputation for being a stoic elf."

Nodding his head in thanks, Erestor takes Y/N in hand and lets her lead them back to the grand hall. The laughter seems louder than when he left, nearly drowning out the music entirely.

When they pass through the large doors together, Y/N slips from his grasp, no doubt in search of her sister or friends to tell of her wonderful night. After watching her go, Erestor sighs happily as he grabs a goblet of sweet wine from a passing waiter before slinking back to his pillar once more.

Bringing the goblet up to his lips, Erestor takes a slow sip before nearly choking on it as a hand clasps his shoulder. Turning away from the crowd from his coughing fit, Erestor glares at the elf before him. "Glorfindel!" Erestor croaks angrily. "You nearly killed me."

"Oh relax," Glorfindel sighs, leaning against the pillar next to him. "You're fine, besides I came to congratulate you?"

"Congratulate?" Erestor questions, taking a smaller sip of wine, his mind wondering what he could have done to earn the other ellon's praise. "What for?"

Glorfindel lets out a soft snort as his eyes land somewhere in the sea of elves. "For making Y/N the happiest elleth here of course! You two were so cute outside," Glorfindel says with a slight smirk. "Who knew you were such a good dancer?"

Turning to Erestor's flustered glare, Glorfindel can't help but laugh at the flush on his friend's cheeks. "You don't say a word about that," Erestor growls.

"Mmm, we'll see about that Mellon," Glorfindel says before quickly moving to disappear into the crowd, leaving Erestor to grumble to himself.

Oh but Glorfindel is right, Erestor sighs, looking down at the dark red wine in his hand. I did make her very happy.

And if I have to bear his teasing for months, it'll be worth it. His eyes land on Y/N, her face beaming with joy as she no doubt retails what had happened to her brothers.
