Much happier with the Tsuki painting than the Tetsuo tbh, but drawing masc face shapes have always been harder than fem shapes for me, so it makes sense it would carry over into painting. My biggest regret is not taking a picture of Tetsuo before I drew on his lip paint-- I kind of fucked up the lip shape along the way, and while the red is a nice addition, his clean face with just the soft blue shading was very pretty.

For like 2 or 3 months now, I've been slowly working on (but mostly just daydreaming about) making a "anyways this is my new oc, Tsuki" post, where I indoctrinate you all on my now extensive modern au Tsuki lore. But seeing as my ideal indoctrination post will require multiple colored comics and character references, ya'll are gonna be waiting for a while.

But this is a lot of Kono's part of it, so consider it a sneak peak when that comes out in another 6 months

First image is what's supposed to be WOTW's second arc cover, where we see what Hiro and the clan have been up to while Haru and co. have been dealing with Iron Court things.

Then, a Sora I drew a while back that don't think I've posted before, where I tried extra hard to lock in on her face shapes.

Finally, an INCREDIBLY rough portion of what is part of a storyboard for a Tsuki and Zushi interaction animation (Tsuki is only approaching her because Tetsuo is forcing him to and it shows. Too bad she won't pick up on the hint.)

B) I have to admit that the idea of Tetsuo wearing a bra being on the same canon-altering level of a prophetic dream journal about the red moon / infinite tsukuyomi or the Senju weed empire, is in fact very funny to me

Ok, there's now an AU of the Shikamaru Yaoi diary au where, instead of his grandfather's diary (or maybe alongside it?) Shikamaru (+ Sakura and Ino) somehow ended up with the messy, near incomprehensible dream diary of one Hatake Sora— and the strange, all too real mysteries that they unravel for him and Konoha as a whole ,,,,

FUCK, stop making me think about this that's actually a really interesting concept and I don't have the energy to dive into it rn but like. Mm. Putting a bookmark there for later thoughts.

Yk I hadn't fully considered that it was a discord exclusive AU but ur right it is. It's multiple, even.

Tldr; Neji and Obito role swap AU due to a list of chain reactions that occur bc of this actually being an Uchiha Madara and Hyuuga Hiname role swap. Swapping destinies of going crazy, leaving the village and one day kidnapping some little Konoha boy (Neji) to show the Truth Of The World(tm) and make them do their bidding vs being murdered for political reasons and having your story quickly swept under the rug by your own clan.

^ That's the original / starting point AU for me, which has actually existed as a very long, incomplete Tumblr draft post for over a year now I think. One day I'll finish it. Probably.

Then the Neji detective AU was a stage in that AU, but also its own entire separate thing, thought up by our wonderful and valued minimum wage worker here.

Basically: Neji finds the old diary of one Nara Shikasada, Shikamaru's grandfather. (This is the same diary that features in the Shikamaru becomes a BL author au, yes)

In this diary, Shikasada details the death of Hyuuga Hiname; Early Konoha's 19 year old Hyuuga heir, who was murdered just a week before she was to become clan head. Since then, she's become a sort of warning story within the clan— she did, after all, plan to dismantle the caged bird seal. And who was it that killed her but her own people, those she'd intended to set free.

Which is obviously reason number 6 why we can't ever stop using the seal on our lessers, now come along children it's time for lunch.

( She was Konoha's first (public) political assassination <3 )

Anyways, apparently, according to the diary, it was a pretty open secret that the story was total BS. Especially to Shikasada, who had known Hiname on a personal level. After all, he was one of her greatest political allies, and had at that point once in a love affair with one of Hiname's followers + the cousin of another. Both who'd given their lives to see that Hiname and her goals lived another day.

The day she died, the Hyuuga went into lockdown— rushing through the motions of the trial and immediately throwing the blame onto Hiname's closest allies within the clan. They were quickly re-branded and executed, and because the entire thing was an inter-clan matter, the rest of Konoha could only watch.

(Reportedly, the Hatake head herself even showed up to try and tear down the clan compound gates.)

A week later, as to not "further disturb the natural order of things" Hiname's little brother was made clan head in a ceremony that should have been hers.

Though Shikasada isn't sure who exactly did it, both he along with many others (especially clan heads) knew it was NOT her own servants. Shikasada himself was convinced it was one of the Hyuuga elders, or perhaps the brother.

(Coincidentally, his entrance onto the clan council was not a smooth one)

-> Anyways ! Lots of other little murder details/commentary on early Konoha politics later, and we have a mystery on our hands !!! Or Neji does, anyways

There's also a version of this branching directly off from the Shikamaru yaoi diary AU where, while Shikamaru, Sakura and Ino are adapting the diary to publish, they obviously notice the murder mystery and for some reason one of them decides to tell Neji.

There's also also another version of this AU branching off of the original thing I mentioned about role swap Madara and Hiname.

Where, in the middle of him taking Obito's place in the world as a crazy silly evil little guy (and either before/after he's trapped in a cave with crazy old lady Hiname) Neji finds the diary and it makes him more curious about Hiname's story / his clans misdeeds

Had to tap into the "oh fuck ok we're genuinely doing face shapes" part of my brain but I think I finally have a Daisuke design I'm half satisfied with. Maybe this means I can finally finish that now year old intro post for him?

He has a cute little double bow hairstyle, which feels a bit too cute for him to have done himself— which makes me imagine that the style was originally done up by Kono, and he's just been styling it like that since she first did it for him. But I can also maybe see Tsuki having contributed ? Tsuki has definitely played with his hair either way

I haven't talked much ab Keiko but she's Kurumi's mom and the clan shepard. + She's Maru's little sister, making her Tetsuo's aunt. I wonder what that family dynamic looks like...? Maybe Tetsuo came to her a lot when he was younger and his own parents were showing favoritism to Tsuki

I should probably try and figure her out some more, this clan needs more women spotlights

Wait ok here, take her doodle / design page where I'm trying to figure her out as ur reward :

I started off wanting something vastly different than all the other Hatake so far, energy wise— we already got a few cool, quiet ocs, grumpy guys, and plenty of outgoing, cheerful characters. So I decided it's time to add in one of my favorite kinds of ocs: the token pathetic little guy <3

Then I decided to make her related to Yuki, since they both have albanism. And since Yuki + her dead twin brother Maka are pre-existing ocs, her design kinda just fell into place (she actually looks very similar to a specific version of Maka, in au's where he's supposed to be a little less pathetic and a little more lethal) tho I did have the very conscious thought of wanting her to have those classic 'fuck-you' giant anime girl hair vent bangs.

Maka's grandchild,,, oh this girl is about to be SO neurotic.

Thinking she's one of those fun, incredibly hypocritical characters full of contradictions. She loves rules and hierarchy and structure but hates to have it imposed on her; she has her own ideal version of it all, and if you don't abide by HER idea of how things work then clearly you're the problem

She was one of Tsuki's little minions (even more so than Sora, who was more of a genuine friend to him) as kids, helping to bully Tetsuo. When Tetsuo became clan heir, she had a very hard time processing what that actually meant, when he was so well-established in her eyes as being on the bottom of their little social pyramid.

By early day Konoha, she's come to accept it, but still often places a trust/loyalty in Tsuki over her actual clan heir.

-> Putting a little bookmark there actually, that seems like it could develop into an interesting plot. Something involving an outsider POV on that especially could be cool ,, someone struggling to figure out how tf the Hatake chain of command works and why this one inactive shinobi commands so much respect / why Tetsuo allows them to get away with it

In general, the weird dynamic between Tetsuo and Tsuki and how it affects the rest of their age mates when they're supposed to be influential figures among them is so fun ,, So it makes it extra fun when making Chizuki, thinking about exactly how she might fit into / affect that scene

Tsuki has almost definitely had/will have to "put her in her place", as he's one to do— but unlike how it pushed Umi away, I think it would only increase Chizuki's fanaticism. Her conspiracy theorist ass is so ready to join the spiral cult

Her issues with Tetsuo are especially interesting since, as she's training under Keiko to be the clan shepard, this also means she'll one day help be in charge of the smaller, more day to day clan logistics. So she has an actual important job that she needs to work with / for Tetsuo in.

Much like Keiko is a sort of 4th in command (the current hirearchy of the elder Hatake going Haruka, Maru, Daisuke, Keiko) Chizuki might one day fill that 4th role for Tetsuo— if she can keep the disrespectful, under her breath comments to a minimum (for what it's worth, Tsuki usually thinks it's funny. Tetsuo not so much.)

And it's because of this role that, in WOTW chapter 1, she's mentioned as off screen helping to take care of the houses of those who are still sick. It's part of her duties as clan shepherd <3

Anyways:

She's a fucking mess of a woman. If she existed in modern era she'd be that one super quiet, soft spoken, mysterious person— who's actually a fujo furry sending people death threats and dozxing people on Twitter + thirsting on main about hot men. The kind of girl who keeps a full body pillow of Ghost from COD where he's only wearing the mask on her bed.

She's posting a photo of herself in her underwear laying on her bed (covered in empty monster energy, pizza boxes and mini tequila bottles) wearing one of those big fluffy neon red wolf ear headbands, looking on the verge of tears, and posting it with the simple caption of '#girlhood'.

6 minutes later she posts something complaining about how no one likes her posts anymore and maybe she should just kill herself since all her followers hate her now

Just the messiest, most mildly evil, chronically online woman u can imagine. The definition of "girl you're too old for this"

Unfortunately her personality (and social anxiety) also forbids her from saying most of her evil little thoughts— untill she has so many that they just burst out in a terrible explosion that changes everyone's view of her.

So I'm sure that will go great for her

Anyways, rounding back to her being a pathetic little guy type character (and also a little bit evil) ->

She 1000% uses the "I'm just a frail pathetic tearful woman" schtick all the fucking time.

She invokes the spirit of fanon Shang Qinghua to me. But if he were a woman. But still just as sexist about other women btw— like, she's looking around and giving other women names like 'wife material number three' in her head bc she can't be bothered to learn their names

She's on the floor screaming crying throwing up, just throwing a tantrum and making a total scene (she dropped her french fries)

Tetsuo tells her to stop crying and get up, she's making a fool of herself, and she tries to reply but is crying so hard it comes out as an ugly wheeze that sounds like shes on the verge of throwing up instead

Tsuki says the exact same thing but with a pretty smile and she's instantly on her feet, brushing her clothes off and going "sowwy Tsuki 🥺"

Tetsuo is so fucking sick of it here.

Meanwhile Sora is just eating the dropped french fries off the floor. Yummy :D

Opinions on her vary WILDLY in Konoha— but in general seem to be split into camps of, "oh yeah that poor, shy girl" / "she's a worm of a woman" (- Madara, actually) / "horny evil freak with malicious intent." / "Probably harmless ?"

—and so on.
