I found Omen on the rooftop of Valorant HQ, he was visibly phasing in and out like glitches in an old tv. I worried deeply for him, flying from France just to see Omen. As I stepped into his proximity, he didnt turn to look at me but simply hunched his shoulders and sighed. "Why did you come find me?" His gravelly voice grinded against my eardrums, not in an unpleasant way.
I neared him, "I heard from Cypher…" The words I had prepared on the way up had forgotten me and left me with a mouth full of sand, "About what happened at Kingdom."
His shaking grew stronger as I finished, making me fear for him, "I don't understand." Omen wouldn't look at me, his hood covering the glowing blue of his face, "I need to speak to Sabine."
I had never gotten along with Viper. It’s unknown to me whether or not it's because of Vince's and her's history or her personality, either way we haven't mixed well. I didn't know what to say to my friend other than: "I'm so sorry."
"I just don't understand how she could know so much and tell me so little." His words were like venom, I was sure that if he had teeth they would be grinding.
I knew the words that were lingering in his mind, "You are no monster, Omen." I watched as he tensed his body, uncomfortable with the word choice I had used, still I pushed on, "If you were so much of a monster you wouldn't of saved my life."
I could smell the irritation radiating off of him, "That is who I am, not who I was, Sorcha." He rolled his shoulders like he was trying to expel an invisible weight off of him.
"My whole life, I've been surrounded by people," I spoke slowly, gazing deep into the horizon, "a fair few of them were bad, only a handful were worthy of the title 'nice,' and you-" I clenched my jaw for a moment, staring as the clouds mimicked the rolling dark waves of the ocean at midnight, "you are one in a billion, a diamond in the rough, a drop of water in a desert; you may be the shadows but you are my sunlight. Who you were before Valorant doesn't matter, I know you seek answers and I understand how important this is to you and no matter what happens I'll support you in any way possible."
Omen stared at me and I wished deeply that I could read his emotions as his gaze pierced my skin like one of Reyna's leers. At last, I felt him turn away and he leaned closer to me, bumping shoulders and I could feel the vibrations his figure let off, "Thank you."
I blinked, sensing the vibrations of our bodies harmonizing and becoming a dull, almost-silent humming as Omen calmed. If infinity was real and the world was as full of peril as it was now in a hundred million years, I would gladly spend it with him, in every universe, no matter how it ended up.
