It's Friday and that means it's #friyayfaves inspired by @the__glow__girl Unfortunately after doing a mostly @freshbeauty routine for over two weeks I have some #fridayfails as well. I worked hard to use only fresh products but needed to substitute a sunscreen and eye patches with two of my favorites (shout-out to @eltamdskincare and @viicodebeauty ) If you want to know honest thoughts from a licensed professional you can read on. . . . So my overall thoughts on fresh beauty are that they are very hyped in the #instabeauty community. It's understandable, they look good, they smell good and they partner with octoly which means they send a lot of pr. After doing a mostly fresh beauty routine for a little over two weeks my skin feels.... Not great. I have very sensitive skin that seems to be triggered by many things but mainly fragrance and sometimes exfoliation. Every fresh beauty product that I mention here has fragrance. I'm stating this now because I'm not going through each product and complaining about it. If you're buying fresh beauty you know that you're getting fragrance. If your skin is fine with the, awesome. Sadly, my skin was not good with it. . . . The soy cleanser was the redeeming product here for the whole routine. This cleanser is a pH balanced gel cleanser that is gentle and non-stripping. This has both antioxidant and amino acids in the ingredients list which are great for anti aging efforts except that since this is a wash off treatment your skin isn't really getting all those benefits fully absorbed. It's still a good gentle cleanser for normal to dry skin. I'd say that combo/oily skin might want something with ingredients that will help balance out their oil production more but this worked well for me. . . The rose deep hydration toner seems to have a cult following here on Instagram and I totally get it. It's beautiful and it smells like a flower bed. Unfortunately it's basically just fragrant water-hot take, I know but it's basically like putting perfume on your face. There aren't many ingredients to it and while it does have some calming and hydrating ingredients that's counter balanced by all the fragrant oils. . .
