Cross Tag Battle Patch Teases New RWBY rep
Just over a year ago, Blazblue Cross Tag Battle was released, marking RWBY’s debut in the fighting game circuit... and nothing else. Only Team RWBY represented their parent franchise in the crossover game, even as additional DLC (or more accurately, half the launch roster was made into a season pass) was trickled out over the summer and fall of 2018. Since then, it’s been mostly quiet for Cross Tag Battle, barring teasing a new franchise in Arcana Heart joining the fray and a potential sixth franchise which we still know nothing about (but this patch indicates that it’s Senran Kagura).
The game recently got a patch that included voice lines for various characters, most notably teasing that RWBY might finally be getting some new representation as part of a second wave of DLC.
Now please keep in mind, even the person leaking this information says to take all of this with a grain of salt, and the comments section for the video indicate that these voice lines might just be covering their bases in the event they decide to include certain characters. Either way, you’ll want to head to 3:17 for the RWBY specific voice lines, which are:
Jaune Arc
Pyrrha Nikos
Lie Ren
Nora Valkyrie.
Sun Wukong.
Cinder Fall.
Roman Torchwick.
Neopolitan.
Emerald Sustrai.
Adam Taurus
Adam’s inclusion is almost definitely happening, for the record- game director Toshimichi Mori has said Adam and Penny are the two RWBY characters that he especially wants to see added to a potential RWBY fighting game.
Mercury stands out as the one named villain from the Beacon seasons not included in the roster. I am very definitely not bitter if this is true.
My own two cents on the situation are this: It’s unrealistic that we’ll get ten characters post-launch. ArcSys puts a lot of work into each character and for RWBY especially it requires creating entirely new assets (Blazblue, Under Night in Birth and Persona 4 Arena all recycled their own character animations for the returning roster) alongside the assets that will be needed for Arcana Heart. Would I like to see all these characters? Yes, very much so, I’d pick up the game again to play as a lot of these characters. But more realistically, as mentioned, this could just be the team covering their bases and they haven’t finalized RWBY’s additional representation.
My fever dream idea though? They’re gonna keep this announcer for a full RWBY game and they’re getting voicelines out of the way now. Either way, Cross Tag might be getting some new life breathed into it soon, as early as EVO if these announcements come out there.
mfw the fucking dog makes it into Amity Arena over Mercury
The promised day is now nearly finally upon us.
HE IS COMING. I CAN SLEEP AT LAST.
Amity Arena’s release date has finally been confirmed as October 25th, the same day as RWBY Volume 6 screenings will start.
... now, where the hell is Mercury.

While it’s not out for everyone until Friday, RWBY Amity Arena has begun launching in various territories for people who pre-registered the game on Android. Already reports are coming in about it, primarily concerning the roster of characters available and more particularly, the characters omitted. Chief among which being Cinder and Mercury, leaving Emerald and Roman as the only major villain representation in-game at launch.
However, Amity Arena’s Twitter has confirmed that Cinder is set to appear in a post-launch update. Mercury has likely just been confirmed as well since the Twitter account likely wouldn’t responded if he wasn’t planned.
Meaning my obsession with seeing Mercury in this game will probably outlive me at this point. When fucking Nolan can get into the game ahead of you...
Glynda has been confirmed two separate times in the past- at the end of the RTX trailer, and then her art was shown in a Youtube compilation of people playing the game at RTX. Now her art is out.
And still no Mercury. No I’m not bitter.
RWBY: Amity Arena was at RTX Austin! Thanks to everyone that stopped by and played the latest version of the game! Did you get a chance to see the new charac...
Another day, another bit of news about Amity Arena, in the form of a video that was just them fucking around at RTX with a Great One. It looks like shirts and posters will be made available (A shirt with Pyrrha’s art model can be seen in the video). The big news at the end is this:
Glynda is going to be in the game. She was previously spotted in a freeze-frame shot in the RTX trailer, and now we have her official art.
(So now we have characters that the show is trying to pretend never existed thanks to VA drunk Twitter rants getting announced before Mercury. I’m not bitter.)
