The promised day is now nearly finally upon us. 

Amity Arena’s release date has finally been confirmed as October 25th, the same day as RWBY Volume 6 screenings will start. 

While it’s not out for everyone until Friday, RWBY Amity Arena has begun launching in various territories for people who pre-registered the game on Android. Already reports are coming in about it, primarily concerning the roster of characters available and more particularly, the characters omitted. Chief among which being Cinder and Mercury, leaving Emerald and Roman as the only major villain representation in-game at launch. 

However, Amity Arena’s Twitter has confirmed that Cinder is set to appear in a post-launch update. Mercury has likely just been confirmed as well since the Twitter account likely wouldn’t responded if he wasn’t planned.

Nightswatchh, better known to you as the talented AMV creator Myrkuri, is also a mod on the r/RWBY subreddit. While on Discord, Nights came across a post made by a talented user and created this post regarding Mercury and his potential role in Volume 6. Transcribed below because I find it pretty interesting and a good potential bit of foreshadowing:

So as we all know by now, the cast is heading off to Argus. Argus is a cool place yo, got lots of shit like snow and houses I bet.

The important bit is the fact that Mercury is gonna kill everyone in the fucking city.

Or, well, maybe just one person.

Why, you ask? "Nights, get off Mercury's dick he's a secondary villain who gets less focus than a shopkeep and a fourteen year old farm boy", you say? Well sorry to say I can't, I'm just here spitting some hard fucking FACTS.

Mercury is based off Hermes, the man who killed Argus. Even better, Hermes kills Argus in his sleep. Like an assassin. What is Mercury? That's right, a trained assassin!

Is that the end of the theory? Yeah!

Do I need anything more to be hyped as fuck? NO!

Now granted, Argus refers to several characters and stories in Greek myth, but given how Mercury is one of the only (living) characters currently with a specifically Greek mythological reference (Hermes), it seems like this could be a hint for a potential amount of Mercury focus this year. Especially when one adds in Kerry saying that Mercury would be getting focus soon back in the AMA.

At the end of the RTX Teaser for Amity Arena, several team names can be spotted, including JNPR, CFVY, BRNZ, SSSN, ABRN and... STRQ?!

We know Qrow’s in the game and Raven will probably follow, but at the moment we don’t know Tai or Summer’s weapons and Summer is... kind of dead. 

I swear to God, if NHN actually reveal STRQ are in the game before they even confirm Cinder, Mercury or Neo I am going to laugh-cry and give them some money for that expert trolling, it’s kinda funny at this point. Actually I’ll do it anyway if they reveal Tai and Summer’s weapons. 

Also for fans of those other teams, particularly people who finally want some proof of Scarlet and Sage’s continued existence, this may be confirmation that we’ll see them in game.
