The Fram and the Gjøa
I visited the Fram-Museum in Oslo recently. The museum is built around the ship Fram, which was build for and mainly used by the Norwegian polar explorer and Nobel Peace Prize winner Fridtjof Nansen. The ship was later also used by Roald Amundsen, another Norwegian polar explorer, when he led the first successful expedition to reach the geographic south pole. The Fram is almost completely accessible – a fact that made my heart beat just a little bit faster ^^.
The museum also houses the ship Gjøa – the first ship to successfully traverse the North-West-Passage. I took no photos there because I was in a bit of a rush. I took so much time with the Fram that the museum was about to close once I made it to the Gjøa.
