In honor of #worldwildlifeday I present not only one of the most overlooked animals, but this one in particular is one of my cat Annie’s nemesis. This gal is missing half her tail, but she sure is tough. Squirrels are not given enough credit for their role in the nature. A person from the wildlife conservation degree at my school recently tried to convince me rehabbing squirrels and other small “unimportant” animals was a waste of resources and money. It amazing me that even people who say they want to dedicate their lives to conservation think that they can pick and chose what species deserve help. Almost all of our squirrels wind up at a rehab due to some kind of human interaction.
