Caesar's getting along a lot better today than yesterday. I went to sleep late last night in the early hours worrying about what could happen to him. Woke up at 6 to see him looking much more bright-eyed.
It feels so heart-wrenching to give a tiny little bird medicine. The technique is to hold the bird from behind with your middle and index fingers in a claw-type grip so that the wings can't move. I have to get my mum to help open his beak. It makes him seem so weak and helpless. At least he takes it well. It would be bad if we had issues with him not swallowing. But he goes back in the cage and chomps it disgruntledly.
He's much more lively today. He's trying to open more seeds, and hops around with more confidence even though he's clumsy. I got a few little chirps from him. He grooms sometimes. When I offered for him to sit on my finger just to keep him company, he decided to go down the rest of my arm outside the cage, and, scared, I offered him my other finger worrying he would fall off, he indicated towards my shoulder, so I let him sit there for a few minutes. It was really really sweet. He missed sitting in his usual spot. I put him back and I could see that he was happier just with that.
One of my worries is that one of his eyes is slightly bulging out (as pictured) and kind of fixed looking down. On the top corner you can see the white of his eye and around it it's a bit red. I'm not sure what it could be, but mum says the vet said it's probably a popped vein and should heal up by itself soon. At least he can blink with it.
Other than that, he's doing pretty good. He managed to get excited when I took a water bottle out and clumsily jumped about on the perches a few times. When I whistle he gives one little chirp back. He also managed to get angry and fluff up at my brother when he tried to sleep. He sleeps a lot, though not as much as yesterday.
Progress is good. Thank you for your support all of you ❤
