Red-crowned Amazon (Amazona viridigenalis), family Psittacidae, Psittaciformes, Lower Rio Grande Valley, South TX, USA
There has been considerable debate over whether this species was introduced into South TX or whether they were introduced through the pet trade. This population is now considered to be native.
The other native population is located in northern Mexico.
