OK, so I talk a lot about lifting heavy. Because it’s the best. BUT. What I don’t mean when I say that is ‘lift as heavy as you can’. NO. Lift as heavy as you can whilst MAINTAINING GOOD FORM. If you don’t prioritise form over weight you will not only be highly likely to injure yourself but you are pretty much guaranteed not gonna be getting the gains you think you are. All that work for nothing. Why? Because without proper form your body will always try to take the easiest route to lift the weight e.g. by recruiting other muscles than the one you are trying to hit. For instance: some gymbro curls his stupidly heavy dumbbells that he clearly can’t actually lift by using momentum and recruiting his legs, glutes and back to swing the dumbbell up. How much work do you think his bicep is really doing? Another example would be a girl wanting to train her glutes doing cable kickbacks but instead of isolating the movement and keeping her torso tight and still, she hyperextends her lower back. The glutes are not doing the work here. Maybe a little, but not as much as you want. Anyway.
