• Happiness Begins 💫 • 03.02.2020 ✨ • This time last year, I went to the Jonas brother’s concert right before the pandemic hit, little did I know it was going to be the first and last concert of 2020. I remember spontaneously booking tickets 3 days before the concert, getting one of the best seats in the house and to top it all off, I was dancing & singing to my heart’s content. Right there and then, I felt so free. I miss the crowds, how loudly we all echoed the lyrics back to the Jobros. Unexpectedly, due to the toughness of last year, I didn’t anticipate how frequently I grasped onto these moments like I was clasping onto straws. These previous memories constantly kept me afloat throughout last year. I’d constantly replay these videos to remind myself that better days are ahead. Back then, I thought my happiness began, but I was deceived. There were tons of turmoils, heartbreaks and tons of madness that sometimes I just needed a break. Thankfully, I just about endured & looking back, a year later, coming out of my social media detox, reflecting on my mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health, I’m the most happiest I’ve ever been in a long time, in ways I never thought possible . 🥺😁 In hindsight, those dark days weirdly do seem to glow now. Without the strife and the pain, your glow up would be non existent! Every bad experience, struggle, lockdown etc. will shape and mould you to be the person who you’re destined to be. To those struggling: cling onto hope and find moments in life where you were truly, deeply happy (like me during this concert) once you find it, remember how those moments felt and you’ll begin to feel better. You can get through this! Here’s to not only happiness beginning but continuing throughout our lives. There they were. It had been such a journey, you’d fought dragons, ran from ghosts, challenged the world’s most feared warriors and most importantly, they made some great friends. And now it was about to end.
They were about to return home, to the “normal” world. Where dragons were just stories, ghosts are just as fake and knights where no longer there. Where they barely even payed their rent and never got a good meal. Where their family was miles away and friends abandoned them.
They didn’t even know why they wanted to return in the first place, maybe they were just scared of change, or maybe they didn’t want to live a life that was so unstable and unpredictable.
“This is it, my friend,” He said. “This is where we part ways.”
They smiled. “I’m afraid so.” turning around, they met his gaze “But it’s been great meeting you and the rest. You know, you’ve really taught me something”
He raised an eyebrow, for as much as that was possible for a huge elder dragon “Oh? And what, my friend, might that be?”
“Well,” they replied, “You learned me to trust myself, and to never give up. Because there won’t always be other people to trust me”
He let out a chuckle “Yes, that is very right. It is too bad the others didn’t come to say goodbye. Perhaps it was too painful to see such a good friend leave.”
“Yeah. I’ll miss them. And you, of course!”
“Yes, my friend. I shall miss you too, you truly have changed everything for me. Instead of rotting away in an old cave, I came to travel one last time.”
After some silent thinking about everything that happened in the past few months, they finally broke the silence “Well.. Then I guess it’s time for me to go now...”.
He looked up at his friend, he’d been so distracted at thinking of how they came to drag him out of his cave, he almost forgot where he was. “Ah, yes. This shall be goodbye.”
They awkwardly turned around and went for the strange object that was supposed to bring them back home. Thinking of all their adventures and all the friends they made for one last time, preparing to wake up back at their apartment. It would all be just a dream, it would be as if it never happened, they’d continue their life working with no goal and no more hope.
They’d have to give it all up...

Lose all their friends..
four more steps.
Go back to working in a dead-end job with absolutely no hope of their talents for magic being discovered...
three more steps.
Go back to being rejected by their family...
two more steps.
But what if...
one more step.
What if they didn’t want to go?
They extended their hand.
What if they just stayed here with their friends?
They froze, hand hovering centimeters from the object.
“What is on your mind, my friend? Did you not want to return to your realm?”
“I... I did... But I’m not sure that’s still what I want.”
He tilted his head slightly, a confused look on his face “It is not what you desire anymore? I had thought that was why you started this whole parade through the kingdom to begin with?”
A smile crept across their face, but their eyes looked sad. Without looking at the dragon, they responded “Yes, but so much happened since I came here, I had so much adventures, made so much friends... I don’t know if I want to go back anymore...”
“Do you not have your friends and family waiting for you back in your realm?”
“No... My family rejected me after I told them who I was, just because it wasn’t who they wanted me to be. My friends... Well, I once had them but life goes on and there’s no more time to for me to get to know more people with work taking all my time... But here... Here, I’ve got real friends, trustworthy people that will stick with me and support me when I need it, real friends, true friends, people who honestly care! And there’s so much adventure, so much difference and change every day!” A smile crept across their face as they turned to their friend and stepped away from it. “Boy, I couldn’t possibly give all that up for what I’ve got back there, can I!?”
Their friend smiled back, “No, I suppose you could not. Come now, the others shall be delighted to hear by your decision.”
And they were. They lived through their years as an adventurer, learning more and more about this world with their friends, discovering every secret, seeing every mountain, reading every story, and asking every question. Needles to say, they didn’t get every answer.
And on the other side...
Their phone rang, one last time. Contact name read “George the potato lord”. It seemed that some friends, even if they don’t contact you, always stay and try a second time. They hung up, apparently given up on calling. One last message popped up, one last inside joke to ask if they had time. “Yo, madude, we need to talk about the craaaaazyy alien duck invasion we got last year, you got any time?”......
