queendom was turning out to be quite the experience. 7rophy had undeniably killed the previous week, and lux was more than ready to continue the streak. this stag needed to be ballsy above all. the goal wasn’t just to be better than the original, after all - it was to make the audience forget the original had even existed for the brief time they had onstage.
noeul was a good rehearsal partner. it was easy to focus a little too hard on herself, but with the main vocalist’s decision to stay late as well, it forced her to imagine the group as a unit built of seven moving parts rather than seven individuals. and, frankly, it had been easier to do the latter.
“we’re gong to do well again. don’t you think so?” she asked carefully, stonyfaced. were they trying too hard again? was this south of the hobgoblin-latata badass concept equator? were they going to look as amateurish as she’d felt during the former’s promotion cycle? after everything they’d been through, she hoped not, but small details like mijoo’s pigtails left seedlings of doubt. she really didn’t need 7rophy to win the show, but she didn’t intend to be shown up just because they were the junior group.

lucid’s known for their tough and difficult choreography, and as much as jaein hates to admit it, she takes a little pride in that. they’ve been praised for their performances ever since their debut, and she hopes that they continue to go down that path until their joints start giving up on them. it’s nice being known as a group with rich choreography.
she’s also not too shabby when it comes to stage presence. or at least that’s what she’s told. perhaps her fans are just being nice when they say the typical “unnie, i could only see you on stage!” but she also hears it from staff members, and she also gets placed at the center of things so that must mean something. maybe that’s what people mean when they say that some people were just born to stand on stage—though she hopes that’s not what people say about her.
she is more confident in her dancing than she is in her singing, however, and she thinks that plays a part in her seeming more natural on stage than during schedules such as radio shows where she has to sing standing still. her stage presence is almost like an on and off switch where she needs to be dancing or underneath a bunch of flashing lights for her to look like she’s doing a good job.
Send ∞ for a future (post-idol life) headcanon. ( 262 words )
for how much jaein talks about how she doesn’t want to continue down this path, she has no concrete plans for what she would do if lucid were to debut, and she were given freedom. all she knows right now is that she doesn’t want to stay in the entertainment industry because despite how busy she is and how much she has going on, she always feels empty. every single day seems unpromising, and she doesn’t think she’ll be able to survive any more years than she absolutely has to.
honestly, a post-idol life doesn’t seem like too far into the future. most idol groups go through a rough road by the time they hit their seventh or eighth year. unless lucid starts gathering a more solid fanbase, she doesn’t see them lasting more than ten years either. unlike boy groups who have very loyal fanbases, lots of girl groups depend on public interest to keep them running and once that runs out, it seems like the end of their career. public interest doesn’t last very long either because people are quick to hop onto the next group that looks promising.
maybe jaein will go back to school. attend college like she wanted to. or maybe a couple of years from now she’ll find herself actually enjoying this celebrity life and want to continue down the path. for now, she has absolutely no clue what she wants to do which is weird for someone like jaein who wants her whole life planned out for her. no wonder she’s constantly struggling with herself.
ever since the three companies have started pairing up to do all kinds of business together, jaein found herself being stuck doing even more ridiculous things. this, for example, was another one of their stupid ideas. a culture complex? for what? back during the company meeting, she heard of the plans and what the building would include, and all she could think of was how money greedy the companies are being. that’s definitely not a surprise, but she thinks they could be investing their money in better things. if the companies had that much money in their hands, why didn’t they invest it into their groups? she’s groaning in frustration when she stumbles upon a familiar face who’s dressed a bit too similarly to herself. “am i the only one that thinks this is a stupid idea?” she whispers towards noeul with a slight scowl on her face. perhaps it was a dangerous statement coming from a rookie in a room filled with people with so much more experience from her, but with how tired she’s feeling, she thinks she’d rather deal with the possible consequences later.
