Melina sets out a feast for you guys. Feast by Russia standards - lots of alcohol, minimal food.

She pops a bottle for Yelena and Natasha, but hesitates on you. You raise an eyebrow.

“None for you,” Alexei says. “You are too young.”

You cross your arms.

That’s a bit of a sore point for you. Your age is inaccurate, you being an enhanced girl in russia in the nineties, Draykov put you in experiment after experiment, perfecting his little project - Melina’s chemically subjugated agents. Alexei knows full well what happened to you. He pretends to be clueless, but you know he knows.

“No,” Yelena takes a long draw from her bottle. “She’s twenty-two. That’s old enough.”

“I’m sixteen.” you reach for one of the pieces of fruit set out. “It’s quite a story. You should ask them sometimes.” you wave a hand at Melina and Alexei.

Melina disregards this, and begins to explain the things you already know. 

When Yelena asks who they test it on, her response makes your blood boil.

“Oh, I don’t know. That is not my specialty.”

And then they start ragging on Natasha about her posture and trying to act like a family and it’s all too much.

“Shut up!” You exclaim, slamming the table “All of you! Shut up!”

You look over at Melina. “You think you did good? you think you accomplished anything? You just caused more pain, for me, for Yelena and thousands of other girls just like us. Testing isn’t your specialty? Well, it was mine. It was me every year for almost a decade. In and out and in and out of cryo like a guinea pig running on a wheel.” you’re not sure when you stood up, but you’re leaning over Natasha and pointing a finger in Alexei’s face. By now you’re almost crying. “And you. Testing may not have been her area but you were there every single time. You watched as they did those things and you did nothing.” 

Tears rolling down your face. Alexei looks taken aback. you steady your voice.

“You were never our father. We were never a family. And you didn’t care. So stop pretending you did.”

“(y/n)…” Natasha whispers.

I understand you are very busy, spreading from one part of the world to another, but I still feel that I need to write you this letter and, hopefully, take up your time in reading this letter. I know, there is no way a simple letter from me could distract or stop you in the task you have taken upon yourself to complete but still, here I am, writing you this letter.
