A trinomial:  Megachile brevis onobrychidis.  Thus it is a declaired subspecies of M. brevis of which there have been several and at least one has turned into a species.  Since the distribution of M. brevis is continental one suspects that this supspecies may also be a species if one were able to look under the molecular hood. This bee was collected in the California Central Valley in Yolo County for research on small-scale restoration in agricultural areas. Claire Kremen's 10-year study of hedgerows shows the benefits of planting native shrubs and forbs in agricultural areas for native bees.
