Alarm clocks. People react to them in different ways.
Some people rise up to them enthusiastically and head on, ready to take on the day: pushing sleep away with a morning routine of light exercise before following with shower and breakfast. The rest of the day lies ahead, filled with scheduled tasks and training which will be fulfilled at it’s best. Vitus is this kind of individual.
Now, among the many ways to face an alarm clock in the morning, ignoring it is perhaps the worst one, which is what Cilea fights against with on a daily basis. Tumbling out of bed, a mechanic routine forced against most loved sleep, followed with a cold shower to take any hopes of returning to sleep away, and fight off the remains of sleep within the first and second cup of coffee.
Other people do not have an issue with the alarm clock itself, but the circumstances surrounding the alarm are more of a problem than waking up. In this case: room temperature is lower than bed temperature. Not losing warmth becomes a paramount task. Nooking at the warmest spot between all blankets is a good solution, yet one can easily end in oversleeping. Walking from bed with every blanket over or around himself is how Varik has mediated between waking up and not losing warmth on the way.
Yet there are also rare days in which alarms clocks just don’t happen at all. In those days, morning routine is replaced with reaching the next chapter in a book; sleep is only interrupted with lavish caressing and gestures affection, with sporadic bouts of playfulness,; warmth sources are constant and plastering oneself against the nearest warm body is entirely possible. These, are the best kind of lazy mornings. As for the rest of the day, well.
We’ll see if they get there.

Morning routines.
Beep. Beep. The alarm goes on.Beep. And that’s the first message of the day.Beep. Beep. Beep. It will be a long day.
Reading messages first thing in the morning is definitely not good, but it lets you plan whether you will be able to have breakfast or just take a cup to go. Stepping out of bed, get under the shower - a warm, albeit short to start the day. Then it happens: the first contact of the day with another being: that one looking back in the mirror. It is often a good encounter, like the friend you meet everyday on your way to work. Other times, it resembles meeting an old, distant friend, a reminder of how much things have changed. Either way, minutes don’t stop and self reflection waits for a more opportune moment. Uniform at ready, and out the door to face the day.
The first stop is very important: it means coffee. No sugar, no milk, just black coffee in the largest cup available. One would argue breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and most would agree - but for some individuals it really comes down to coffee, like a habit you pick up up and forgot where and how, much like brushing your teeth before bed.
Catching up on the news board as the elevator goes down (or occasionally up) to the right level. Morning routines. They are not the same without the people.
