I finally finished Maurice by E. M. Forster and I LOVE IT. I enjoy it so much that I don't want to finish it, but I also can't stop reading.
This is beautiful — how E. M. Forster gives Maurice and Alec the happy ending they deserve is absolutely beautiful.
To be honest, I usually enjoy those bad endings because I think it's good to show the struggles of queer characters in the story in order to highlight how cruel homophobia is, and perhaps someone might realize we need to make it better in real life. BUT THIS THOUGH. THIS HAPPY ENDING. It doesn't weaken the struggles at all, but it brings out the risks queer partners are willing to take for one another.
