FLOWERBED 🪦🌼
A Friendship between an anxious Undertaker and a lively Wrangler <3
A relationship between Patch, The Waydrifters' Assistant Undertaker, and Daisy, The Waydrifters' Wrangler Hearth.
Their occupations are complete opposites, where Patch tends to the unmoving dead, Daisy tends to the wildest of the Nowhere's creatures.
Daisy is playful, spontaneous, but has a good head on her shoulders to do what's right, which rubs off on Patch in a way that makes them more open to new things.
Oftentimes, new experiences and places are cause for anxiety in Patch. Patch prefers things that are easy and predictable, and is not one to come out of their comfort zone, no matter how much convincing comes from Knell, Pura, or anyone else, it is only ever Daisy's word that they feel the safest.
Patch and Daisy are simply two kids who you wouldn't expect to get along with their contrasting natures, when at the end of the day, they both love to play and have fun whenever they can.
Daisy is a very messy and rowdy kid, having gotten used to a life around animals, being clean isn't something that is constantly on her mind. Her games range from rolling off of hills to making mud-pies, anything you could imagine that would have a Waydrifter furious once they discover the muddy footprints inside their tent or caravan.
With Patch being taught to be meticulous (as an Assistant Undertaker), they are mindful not to leave a mess or to make any mistakes. This changes however, in the presence of Daisy; she is the sunshine that lights up Patch's world, one that encourages them to let loose and be themselves away from their respective duties.
Trying to be as spoiler free as I can, but in the past, Patch and Daisy also saved each other's lives. They were each other's hope for a better future and sacrificed a part of themselves for the freedom of the other. Being together in the Waydrifters is a reminder of a better tomorrow, and that there will always be good people who will be willing to help, willing to care for you in the darkest of places.
They mean so much to each other, and to Patch, perhaps a little more.
Yeah, Patch is a loser.
Being kids, the two heavily deny having feelings for each other. "Love is gross!" "Yuck, that's my friend!" "That's only cheesy stuff grown-ups care about!"
But, alas, growing up means discovering more complicated feelings. Patch is the first to recognize it, the beating in their chest and the warmth rising to their cheeks when Daisy is around.
Daisy... Not so much.
Yeah these two are stupid. Patch is in a constant state of trying to keep up with the constant rhythm of her day to day, while holding onto the SLIM chance of them being something more.
And then there's Daisy. Completely oblivious.
At this point Patch would do just about ANYTHING for Daisy, not in an active attempt to pursue her, but as an attempt to be recognized, for Daisy to think they're cool and more capable than how they actually are. Patch wants to prove themselves to her, and wants to be the best version they could possibly be to match her. Patch thinks very highly of Daisy, she is the youngest Hearth in the Waydrifters, and strives to be just as valued of a member as she is.
To Daisy though, she's just glad that Patch is working so hard to be a part of the community. She admires how Patch would go out of their way to do something at their expense for the good of others, despite their usually non-confrontational demeanor. Daisy loves playing with Patch, but also values the fact that they can have deeper conversations with each other, they do not shy away from each other's bad sides and accept that they don't always do the right things. They don't blame each other for their pasts actions, they forgive and continue along the path the Waydrifters take.
Sooo... the newgen kids huh

Cycling through the Flowerbed.
Route 66 a National UK Cycle Route. The villagers have spruced up this model for Spring.
I have still not done the end-of-year garden cleanout. I don't know when I will. But I got a couple handsome friends (I didn't grow the white one myself) sitting on the steps, and a mum planted in the flower bed.
Years ago I would buy a mum or two in the early fall, transplant them, and they'd come back as perrenials. For some reason, that no longer seems to work. K and I have planted quite a few over the last ten years, and they just Do No come back. I decided to plant this one in its pot. Then, in the spring, I'll do a full transplant. Less stressful for the mum, maybe? We'll see.
