Bolaire had not lost count of how many alleged 'parties' he had dragged Julien away from. No, he had not lost count. It was just that if he focused on such a number, his ire would increase, and that wasn't helpful for anyone right now.
It was, however, the first time he had dragged him out with this much blood involved.'
"I don't know what you were thinking, you silly boy." The words were sharper than usual, honed by worry, supporting him as he opened the door and led him inside, tonight going straight to the bedroom, helping him lay down on the bed.
"Mmm, he was cute?" Julien beamed up at him, reaching up a hand to play at the front of shirt, wiping a small amount of blood there as his fingers rubbed against the fabric.
"Oh you are not going to feel that way about this shortly. Come on then, lets get you clean while there's still a smile on your face." Bolaire was familiar enough by now not just of the effects that the various drugs and potions favored by the up and coming idle class of Dol-Makjar were, but how this particular boy tended to react to them.
"You know, if you wanted to get me naked you just had to ask." Julien batted his eyes in the most ridiculous manor, and worse yet, tried to help.
"Let me, you can barely hold your hand up let alone undo a button," Bolaire muttered, delivery a little smack to the back of his hand.
"Hey....." A frown formed on Julien's face, as though he couldn't understand why anyone would smack him, and then a deeper frown as he began to remember the many, many reasons why one might, even as gloved hands methodically stripped him down.
Miraculously he stayed quiet for a full four minutes as he was laid bare, and then helped into the bathroom and into a bath that somehow was already full and warm. ".... you aren't gonna tell dad, are you?" he asked softly as he stepped into the water, and then hissed as he sunk down and the hot water danced over the cuts on his chest and arms.
".... of course not, silly boy." For this task, as much as he loathed it, Bolaire put aside the gloves and pushed up his sleaves. "Have I ever?"
Julien shook his head slowly after a moment's thought. "I don't think so," he answered at last. ".... Bolaire?" he whispered, trying desperately to wrangle his thoughts into some semblance of order.
"Yes, darling?" Bolaire didn't linger, he was not fond of his skin being wet like this, but he didn't rush either, making sure the boy was clean and free of blood, checking to make sure each straight wound was not too deep.
Julien just looked up at him, and in it what felt like a single moment awareness came crashing down, how pathetically vulnerable he was here at the hands of a man he somehow both barely knew, and also had already started to seek out for safety. "I didn't want to...." the words whisper out unbidden and he can't pull them back, looking horrified at the confession.
"Didn't want to what?" Bolaire's voice was steady and oddly soothing. He had seen Julien places that no one else has, but still there was no judgment there.
"I don't know," he managed to get out, tears threatening, his legs feeling weak and shaky as Bolaire supported him out of the tub and into a nearby robe. "Dad..... Father he... " Julien frowned, the visage of General Davinos floating in his head, powerful and judging.
And Julien was found wanting. Always.
No matter how hard he tried not to want.
"Your father is many things, darling. But not all things. " His hands and his voice were patient as they went back to the bedroom, Julien collapsing on the bed with a shudder, hand imminently reaching for Bolaire but hesitating to touch, after a moment finding a pocket in his pants that he could slip a finger into, not enough to prevent him from puling away, but enough that even with his eyes closed he would be able to tell.
"Oh you silly boy," Bolaire sighed softly as he noticed that, that delicate finger curled just a bit along the fabric. He allowed it for now, shifting to remain there on the bed until sleep overtook him, covering him with blankets for the chills he knew were coming. "You foolish sweetheart of a boy."
