This week marks the release of Tom Cruise's newest film, the fifth installment of the thrilling and successful "Mission Impossible" franchise. 💣 As such, Grantland.com has been running a Tom Cruise Week gimmick, chuck full of entertaining articles, podcasts, even a bracket of his best roles. All of it is really fun. 😎😎😎 Reliving many of those integral characters has been a joyful nostalgia. I could watch Lt. Caffey in that courtroom for DAYS. ("You cut those guys LOOSE!!!") 👮🏼 That film is on another level. Forever! 💯 A trove of other movies are great too: "Jerry Maguire", "Top Gun", "Eyes Wide Shut", "Mission Impossible", "Day After Tomorrow", just to name a few. 🎬 Tho, quite possibly my all-time favorite character he has ever played may very well be that of Hollywood cartoon LES 'Go Fuck Your Face' GROSSMAN, from the hysterical "Tropic Thunder". ☀️⚡️ He is barely on the screen for all of five minutes, and yet, he totally steals the spotlight of the entire movie. 🎥 At the time of theatrical release, the befuddlement by viewers who attempted to spot Cruise in be film, whose name was billed, was some tremendous unintentional comedy. 😂 For someone with the reputation as an extremely serious actor, at a time in his career when things were rocky at best, this fucking guy chooses to blow us all out of the water with this performance. Reading the Oral History of the character's genesis earlier today only solidified that fact for me. 💻 Above, you can enjoy the insane fucking greatness that one LES GROSSMAN can parlay, with the minimalist of effort. Fucking flying to the VietCong to drop off a DVR. I love this cat's determination and adoration got his man, Tug Speedman. 🚣🏽 Bill Hader, was unable to keep a straight face during numerous takes because of Cruise's ability to turn it on. For Tom to come up with the dance scene, that is bonafide gold!!! 🏆 While it was uber-short, his involvement in this awesome comedy will always mean something to me. He truly elevated an already kick-ass story up a notch. 👊🏻 #Bam Now, if I could only figure out to actually FUCK MY OWN FACE, I'd have it all. 🙌🏻👺🚨😂🔥💉👍🏻🙀💀💥🔫💣
