Weâve got to consider the function of a flag as well as its aesthetic and symbolic appeal if weâre going to create something the polyamorous community feels proud to rally behind.
Follow @polyamproud to learn more and vote for a new flag design to represent polyamory worldwide.

Small Note: There were some problems with getting the images for Part 4 saved and uploaded properly. We hope to get it sorted out and upload the part later on.
Continuing our question series with a really important message about how weâre intending to champion marginalized, intersectional voices in the creation of the new polyamorous pride flag.
We want this flag to be of, for, and by non-monogamous people of differing identities and backgrounds worldwide. A social media popularity contest isnât the way to make that happen.
We know weâre asking a lot by asking you to trust us as we continue this work, and weâre doing everything we can to prioritize transparency and be clear and resolute in our ethics.
đ As always, our DMs and email inbox are always open to you!
Thank you so much for following! You and your participation are so, so valuable to us, and to this vast and growing community.

Beside the watermark is the polycule symbol in pink. At the bottom right is a white arrow pointing towards the right. To the right of it is white text which reads â7/8â, indicating the image number.
Image 8: A single square image with a black background. All the text in the image is centered. Centered at the top of the image is the polycule symbol, enlarged and in pink. Beneath the polycule symbol is big, bold white text which reads âfollow @polyamproudâ. Beneath the big text is smaller, bold white text which reads âfor more polyam content. Beneath that is bold pink text which reads âand to join our effort rto establish a new, beloved polyamorous pride flag.â
I'll be honest, I'm a little concerned about the fact you only want 20 people to represent every single polyamorous person's opinion on an official flag. You have to know people will still using the flag they like, right?
Hi there anon, there might be a slight misunderstanding here so let us explain a little more about this.
The 20 people you're referring to would be the people on the committee. The committee will be given a bunch of different possible designs and they will pick several for a list of best suited flags for the community to choose from.
Those chosen flags will be put in a list and then a global vote will be held where everyone in the polyamorous community can rank their favorite flags among the choices and cast their votes. From there on out a flag will be chosen.
So in short the committee will make sure the flag options look good but the community as a whole will be able to pick the flag they like best!
(Our Tumblr still has to catch up on some posts talking about the committee and the voting process but you can already view these posts over on instagram. Here is a particular update post talking about both of these subjects that you can check out!)
As for the second part of your ask: We absolutely understand that some people will still love other flags and might still use those, that is always their choice and we do not intend to take that choice away from people. But we still want to establish a new flag for the community that represents us all better and is widely accepted by the majority of the community.
And we do hope that once a flag is chosen that it'll hold a special place in people's hearts!
Thank you for the ask anon, hopefully this cleared some things up. And if there's anything else you'd like more info on don't be afraid to ask!
