Page number 112 of Fisksoppa!
And a few personal on the issue. The issue being... personal projects, and webcomics, and the unfairness of everything being sooo much work.
Iām an illustrator. Iām also a comic book author. And a freelancer. And I do Fisksoppa in my spare time, after being tricked into the project by the co-author (sheās also my sister. it didnāt take a lot of tricking). We take turns in drawing the chapters, and this is the fourth. Thereās one more coming, then the first arc will be over, and then weāll stop to decide what happens next.
I love the story, and I love reading it. And Iām posting this here as a kind reminder to my future self - itās taken 112 pages for me to actually enjoy drawing it as well (truth be told, I only drew about half of those pages). Because drawing comics is hard, and I love the medium just enough to know Iām not as good as I wish I was. YET. And yeah, yeah, I am winging the perspective and cheating on the backgrounds and shoving sketches, inks and color in 8 hours per page, because thatās all I have. Two free days a week, two pages to deliver per week. But... since... about two months I think, I am loving the process like I have never loved it before - and the characters occasionally do what I want them to do! And the backgrounds... seem to work. And this makes me incredibly happy.Ā
And I really wish past me (specifically, March 2020 me) knew.
