Yuri Gagarin became the first human in Space on April 12th 1961. Fast forward 40 years and “Yuri’s Night” was created as an international space party, celebrating everything aerospace!

The Technical University of Munich (Professorship Human Spaceflight Technology) and association Yuris Night Deutschland e.V. are organizing together the 1st Space Day in Munich!

There will be exciting presentations, among others from the ESA reserve astronauts Nicola Winter and Amelie Schoenenwald on the topic of how to become an astronaut! There will be hands-on activities for everyone (fly a Soyuz capsule or around the ISS with VR!), a space quiz with amazing prizes, a very special visit from a galaxy far far away, and much more!

The whole world celebrated on April 12, 1961 when Yuri Gagarin became the first person to orbit the Earth; now, the festivities continue with our annual Yuri’s Night 21+ spaceflight party! Don’t miss this space-themed spectacle that joins art, dance, music and technology in tribute to everyone’s celestial journey. Dance in a towering glass gallery, transformed into an intergalactic nightclub with some of the best electronic music DJs from Seattle and beyond. Partiers can choose from an eclectic mix of drinks and food trucks to fuel their night of dancing, while virtual reality experiences, photo ops and space-themed activities add to the fun.

Every year at 9:07 am Moscow time on #CosmonauticsDay, we start counting minutes until Gagarin’s return home in 1961. Launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome, his spacecraft, Vostok 1, completed a full orbit around the Earth, landing in the Saratov Region. The flight lasted for 108 minutes. Two days later, the capital and the entire country welcomed the space hero back. The world applauded the space pioneer.
