first draft material. but azrail my beloved (goes by gallan when not acting as a prince)
@olive-riggzey first draft material but have fun
"I hear rumors on the streets of vigilante groups and others who don't like the caste system, so I wanted to find them. I heard the forests are where people go if they have any sort of law they want to break." Gallan licked his lips. "I want to help. And I'm in an advantageous position. I hate seeing the starving kids. The bruises. The blood. The children shot in the middle of the streets for stupid mistakes. It's disgusting." Gallan politely swatted away Cloud's bow. "You won't kill me, right?"
Cloud narrowed his eyes. He put away his bow. Gallan was scrawny enough that he could take him in a fight if it came down to it. "You're right, Gallan. I won't kill you. I'm going to arrest you."
"Oh, splendid! Are you going to take me to your leader?"
"Yes, actually. And you can have the pleasure of meeting my father. He'll decide if we kill you or not. There's typically a zero tolerance policy for upper casters. But no. You're not going to die by my hand. X and Y. Arrest him. Looks like we have a prize for my father."
"Is he going to torture me or just kill me? Because if I had to choose, I'd prefer a quick and painless death. I'd really prefer not to die at all though. I have this friend in the kitchens—"
"You know you're really talkative for a guy who is about to die." Cloud said, as he walked next to Gallan, who was tied up in ropes.
"Honestly, you guys are so much more pleasant than the people who normally try to kill me. I'm very experienced in having people attempt murder on me. At least I can sympathize with why you might want to kill me! So already, I think our relationship is headed in a positive direction."
"Keep on talking, and I'll cut out your tongue."
"Yes, ma'am. But you will put in a good word for me, right—"
"Shut up. I'll tell him not to torture you." Cloud smirked. "So I can have the pleasure of doing it myself."
"I tend to have that effect on people."
Cloud chuckled softly to himself. "You're entertaining enough, I might ask father to keep you around. Don't people in the courts have jesters? Maybe we'll have you do that."
"I would be a great jester. I love the jester in our castle. One of the only decent people there. Thank you for the opportunity. I knew I could count on you. Keeping me alive and giving me a job. I'll humiliate you least of all when I make my jokes for your father."
Cloud snorted. "He has to agree to allow you to be...hmm...what would we name you? Vigilante Jester? Regardless, he has to agree to the position. And most importantly not to kill you. Now be quiet before I change my mind on the job"
"I won't utter a peep. I will prepare for my role, as I practice being a mime."
Cloud snorted louder. Perhaps patrol wasn't too bad after all. Who knew it would be this exciting all along.
